  1. Woo hoo! Am definitely interested, Rune, although will have to clear it with the spouse this evening. Was planning on heading into the city anyway tomorrow, so should be able to figure out a way to get an hour or so at the Casa. Thanks and kudos for setting this one up.
  2. OK, John, email sent with file attached early this AM, sorry for the delay.
  3. The second email came through, John, and was replied to earlier this evening.
  4. Four turns in, and four turns out this early afternoon. One game completed (albeit in an unexpected manner), and four well on their ways. Every movie brings it's own world of drama, heartbreak, etc.
  5. No sweat, Bertram. I for one am welcoming the leisurely pace that our scenario is taking - the blistering pace set by everyone else has kept me on my toes. It seems that when I logon, send my files and by the time I'm ready to sign back off, I already have the next file (I'm looking at you Mr. Dorosh!).
  6. Ugh. Here I am sitting at work, like a sucker, and I have no less than 5 tournament emails waiting in my inbox. I gotta go on the dole or something, to support my CM habit. To my opponents: will get the responses out upon my arrival home this evening, I can only hope that the movies awaiting viewing are as fun to watch as their predecessors.
  7. A glorious Saturday morning here. I awake to perfect weather, the prospects of a Cubs-Sox game this afternoon, and four movies in my inbox. While not all are developing as I would wish, each movie brings hope, desperation and a 60 seconds of nailbiting.
  8. Phew, 5 turns/setups/moves off today to 5 different opponents. This tourney is keeping me on my toes, I only hope to use sensitivity/understanding/flowers, etc. to avoid having Mrs. SpanishBombs reaching the Mrs. Tabpub level. These games run the course from sprawling to byte levels, and all promise to be enthralling. A note to my opponents: I'll be attending the Jeff Tweedy concert tonight which means 1)I won't be getting any turns out this PM, and 2)when I return home, I just might be a little drunk, so feel free to take advantage of me by sending me the next turn.
  9. Woo - hoo!!! Got my first email file of the tournament! This is going to be a blast! Thanks to everyone putting it together.
  10. I'll give it a shot - can always play a Byte Battle. I'll PBEM it, too if someone is interested.
  11. Did you see that? He said they couldn't give any info "just" yet. This is the first time I've seen the use of "just yet". In the vernacular does that not imply imminency? I mean, if he had said "we can't give anything out there yet" then I would be thinking later rather than sooner, but since he said "just yet"... Grasping at straws here in the heartland...
  12. Stopped by the book store today just to peek at the ad, but was dismayed to find all the computer gaming magazines to be wrapped in plastic. It is a sad commentary on my life that the magazines I cannot view because they are wrapped in plastic are computer game-related.
  13. There is a lot more footage of this, including the Americans climbing out of the Sherman that is originally taken out by the Panther. At least one of the American tankers has lost a foot, and its pretty gritty footage seeing him climb out of the tank. There was a Tom Hanks hosted show on combat filmmakers a year back or so, I think I may still have it on tape. It has an interview with the guy who filmed this footage. I recall a couple of things: 1) the guy called the Panther a "Tiger" 2) the guy said that the German commander had lost his legs before climbing out of the turret, and did not survive. In fact I think he said that the commander's body was on top of the burning tank. 3) the Panther burned for a few days. BTW, I know the site with the link is pretty odious, but I would hope the topic/footage itself isn't worthy of a lock. I find the footage to be some of the most amazing combat film I've ever seen, and after all most of us are knocking out Shermans and Panthers in CM on a daily basis.
  14. Not before I get to say: Send me a turn you yod.
  15. Just go and look yourself in the Russian Museum</font>
  16. As long as we're on the subject, I find the whole Maus at Kubinka topic to be pretty interesting. I mean, I'm sure we all have a number of resource books and the like which unequivocally state that both known Maus's (Mices?) were destroyed to prevent the Russians from capturing them. That seemed to be the common western opinion for some time. Then, lo and behold, a Maus shows up in the Russian tank museum. I'm sure someone out there knows this story better than I, but the fact that common knowledge was so wrong for, what 20 years?, is kinda a cool cold-war artifact. 17. Allow me to add my congratulations to Wreck, speaking as but one more tattered corpse on his highway to the championship. I think I ran across a number of good players, but he was heads and shoulders above anyone else. I'd say I was looking forward to a rematch one of these days in another tourney, but I'd be fibbin'.
  18. OK, just to add another nonsequiter to this thread(except maybe in my mind), in the hopes maybe there will be a few answers if BTS replies, I wonder how those rear-turret MGs will work on the KV-1s and the like. They look cool, and all, but I wonder about their a)effectiveness with the low-visibility and b)if they can be used while the main gun is firing. Hmmm, maybe that is fodder for a whole new thread.
  19. I suppose I'm in the minority here, but I've got the 18 month old daughter and a pregnant wife, and between the two my CM time is about as much as I could hope for. Having the baby keeps us from spending a lot of time out on nights weekends, and keeps us from going out a lot, and the wife hits the sack pretty early, so the evenings are chock-full-of CM. I usually have 4 games going and get about one turn per game in per day. (Playing them well is another matter ) Am pretty busy at work (approx 50 hrs/wk self employed), and I know I sacrifice other things like sleep and exercise for playing games. I do find, however, that the 6-8 beer nights are few and far between and the 2-3 beer nights are the norm.
  20. Very cool. CMMOS just keeps getting better and better. BTW, looks like version 3.02 might have some other goodies too. Winter Wonderland I know of, but is "The Hills Are Alive" the long awaited "The Sound of Music" mod?

  22. There is no way this thread is still alive, better get in while I still can. "Mind" was good, maybe even very good at times, although it was 2+ hours that seemed like 3 1/2 hours. LOTR was 3 hours that seemed like 15 minutes, and even though it had been years since I had read the books, I thought about this movie for weeks after seeing it. Maybe we can all agree on this: Thank God that Moulin Rouge didn't win.
  23. Check out the Byte Battles at Der Kessel. They are mostly great scenarios that are true to their name. If you play through a few of them, you could get a good taste of different terrains and weather conditions: Trun and Bure are two of my favorites.
  24. Wow, not my best performances obviously, but an experience I would not have missed for the world. A couple of ideas for a new signature: ROW, Section III last place (but barely) ROW - not last place overall! ROW, Section III, I've been wrecked! Seriously, though, I am now anxiously awaiting redemption and demonstrating vast improvement when the first CMBB tourney begins!
