  1. I just played a tournament game similar to this a few days ago. It was an 800 point ME between the British Airborne and the German Fallschirmjager. I had the choice of sides and picked the allies. After the game my opponent mentioned that the Falls. units were over priced. I went with the allies because they could just plain buy more men. I often find that the winner in many games is the guy who can buy the most infantry. In this case the Germans could purchase 5 platoons with 150 men (not including headquarters and support) and the Brits could get 2 companies with 180. We drew the opposite conclusion than you did, so maybe the points are right on the money. ------------------ Craiger All your victory flag are belong to me
  2. Wow, you sure are lucky. The tv show "Black Sheep Squadron" came out when I was 5-6 years old. I believe this tv show had a huge influence on my life. It was at this time that I decided I would go into the military, and became interested in all things military. There was only one tv show that I had any interested in watching when I was a kid. I used to ask my mother to call me inside from playing when it was time for the "Black Sheep Squadron" to come on. We only had a little 13" black and white tv set with rabbit ears, but I watched that show every chance I got. Later in life I read all the books I could find about the real Greg "Pappy" Boyington. Of course I learned that the tv show was a very "Hollywood" version of things, but it was still pretty good. Looking back on it I think I kind of spent my military time with his attitude, which got me into trouble at times. Luckily, like him, I was good enough at what I did for them to decide not to throw me out, heh heh. Anyway, "Pappy" Boyington has been a hero of mine since my early childhood. To meet him would be quite an honor. ------------------ Craiger All your victory flag are belong to me [This message has been edited by Subvet (edited 02-24-2001).]
  3. Four days to Europe does seem pretty fast. For mail to go from the west coast to east coast of the U.S. typically takes 5 days. It would be nice if you had the option to use various shipping agencies for an added cost. I don't know if BTS offers a choice or not. I'm sure those overseas would be willing to spend a few more... whatever it is they are spending if it meant getting CM faster! ------------------ Craiger All your victory flag are belong to me
  4. As far as I know there isn't one for the Priest. And it isn't the only one without a winter mod. Almost every German vehicle in the game has a winter mod, but MANY allied vehicles do not. ------------------ Craiger All your victory flag are belong to me
  5. Ok, here is a pic with me in it taken about 10 or 11 years ago. This was taken on board the USS Florida SSBN 728. The guys you see here were all in the division called "A-Gang." Can you guess which one is me? ------------------ Craiger All your victory flag are belong to me
  6. The highest ranking U.S. naval officer killed during WW2 was Rear Admiral Isaac C. Kidd. He was killed on December 7th, 1941 at Pearl Harbor while aboard the Arizona when the Japanese attacked. He was last seen manning a machine gun and firing at the Japanese aircraft. Right after that the Arizona blew up. His body was never found. ------------------ Craiger All your victory flag are belong to me
  7. My wife getting ready to go somewhere. My old IBM XT clone. Me the day after staying up all night playing CM. ------------------ Craiger All your victory flag are belong to me
  8. I had a dream that I was in CM. No, I wasn't playing the game, I was IN the game! And I wasn't dreaming that I was in combat during the WW2 era as a real person on a real battlefield, I was in the game. If you've seen the movie "Tron" then you know what I mean. Now not only am I thinking about CM while awake, I'm dreaming it too. Scary, I know. Nobody tell my wife. ------------------ Craig "Only a madman would consider the possibility of war between the two states (France and Germany), for which, from our point of view, there is no rational or moral ground." - Chancellor Adolf Hitler, Oct. 14, 1933
  9. I had a few nicknames while I was in the navy that I considered using. The one I was most often called is "Scammer" but when I use that on-line people always get the wrong idea. I was afraid that people might think I was some kind of cheater or something, which couldn't be farther from the truth. So I had to pass on that one. The second one I was known as is "One Eyed Craiger." That is just too damn long to use as a UserName, so that was out. That name was eventually shortened up to just "Craiger" which is what I should have used. Instead I went with "Subvet" for some unknown reason. Maybe I'll change it... ------------------ Craig "Only a madman would consider the possibility of war between the two states (France and Germany), for which, from our point of view, there is no rational or moral ground." - Chancellor Adolf Hitler, Oct. 14, 1933
  10. Bump. BTS? ------------------ Craig "Only a madman would consider the possibility of war between the two states (France and Germany), for which, from our point of view, there is no rational or moral ground." - Chancellor Adolf Hitler, Oct. 14, 1933
  11. I would agree with those that say trucks, jeeps, and kubels. It's true that any unit can be usefull in the right situation and if used properly though. The above vehicles are just the ones I find the least usefull on average. The Wespe/Priest are some of the vehicles that I buy the MOST, so I find them quite good for the price. And in a recent tournament game I bought a Marder II that performed very well. For the price I love these three. ------------------ Craig "Only a madman would consider the possibility of war between the two states (France and Germany), for which, from our point of view, there is no rational or moral ground." - Chancellor Adolf Hitler, Oct. 14, 1933

  13. Any comments from BTS on this LOS/LOF through buildings? Next patch? ------------------ Craig "Only a madman would consider the possibility of war between the two states (France and Germany), for which, from our point of view, there is no rational or moral ground." - Chancellor Adolf Hitler, Oct. 14, 1933
  14. There may be a mistake on the list. I don't think MDMP2 contains a winter version of the M3A1 scout car. The M3A1 halftrack is in it, but I don't see the scout car there. Thanks alot for this list! I'm sure it took a lot of hard work to compile it. ------------------ Craig "Only a madman would consider the possibility of war between the two states (France and Germany), for which, from our point of view, there is no rational or moral ground." - Chancellor Adolf Hitler, Oct. 14, 1933
  15. 1)4 2)13 3)9 4)3 5)0 6)0 I picked Americans, but I'm not strongly commited to playing them or anything. I have played all of the above, but the last 3 only when letting the computer pick. I may start playing the British more often after going up against Churchills alot lately and not enjoying it one bit. ------------------ Craig "Only a madman would consider the possibility of war between the two states (France and Germany), for which, from our point of view, there is no rational or moral ground." - Chancellor Adolf Hitler, Oct. 14, 1933
  16. I really hate those new Army commercials. Whoever approved that marketing campaign deserves to be fired. Now the Marines, they had good commercials! ------------------ Craig "Only a madman would consider the possibility of war between the two states (France and Germany), for which, from our point of view, there is no rational or moral ground." - Chancellor Adolf Hitler, Oct. 14, 1933
  17. Maximus, you still have that winter croc trailer? ------------------ Craig "Only a madman would consider the possibility of war between the two states (France and Germany), for which, from our point of view, there is no rational or moral ground." - Chancellor Adolf Hitler, Oct. 14, 1933

  19. Last night I had a dream I was in CM. Not just playing the game, actually IN the game! Now that's scary! ------------------ Craig "Only a madman would consider the possibility of war between the two states (France and Germany), for which, from our point of view, there is no rational or moral ground." - Chancellor Adolf Hitler, Oct. 14, 1933
  20. Hey Keith, sorry things didn't work out. I stopped playing any games because I thought this might happen. Sorry if I wasn't as supportive as I could have been. Anyway, for what it's worth, I appreciated the work you did put into it. In the end I'm glad it ended quickly instead of down the road when I would have had more time into it. I understand why you shut it down, so no hard feelings here. I hope I see you around. ------------------ Craig "Only a madman would consider the possibility of war between the two states (France and Germany), for which, from our point of view, there is no rational or moral ground." - Chancellor Adolf Hitler, Oct. 14, 1933
  21. One more thing. In this game I have two other Wespe that are doing the same thing with two other buildings. It isn't just a glitch with this one vehicle and one building. I'd post more screens, but I don't know of another host ------------------ Craig "Only a madman would consider the possibility of war between the two states (France and Germany), for which, from our point of view, there is no rational or moral ground." - Chancellor Adolf Hitler, Oct. 14, 1933
  22. Here is the same vehicle from the top view looking through the other back corner: ------------------ Craig "Only a madman would consider the possibility of war between the two states (France and Germany), for which, from our point of view, there is no rational or moral ground." - Chancellor Adolf Hitler, Oct. 14, 1933
  23. BTS: "LOS will not be calculated through a house." Ok, this continues to be a problem. I know there are those non-believers out there, but I have screenshots, heh heh. Here is my Wespe trying to hide behind a house: Now let me explain. In the first shot you see the wespe looking through a house. In the second shot I moved his LOS line back about a meter and LOS is blocked. It is blocked all the way back to the corner, as shown in shot number three. Of course it it blocked forward of the good LOS as well. The exact same LOS problem is on the other back corner of the house too. If this was just a case of the house not being shown exactly where it is in the code then you'd figure that LOS would be good all the way back from the spot in the first shot. But this isn't the case. There is an LOS "hole" through this house. Also, this isn't a case of "following" a target even though it is out of LOS, so that doesn't explain it either. Maybe this is a reason Wespe are blowing themselves up? ------------------ Craig "Only a madman would consider the possibility of war between the two states (France and Germany), for which, from our point of view, there is no rational or moral ground." - Chancellor Adolf Hitler, Oct. 14, 1933
  24. Can we see these again please ------------------ Craig "Only a madman would consider the possibility of war between the two states (France and Germany), for which, from our point of view, there is no rational or moral ground." - Chancellor Adolf Hitler, Oct. 14, 1933
  25. 3 for me. I like variety. I love to try new tactics and units. 4 4 35 14 15 ------------------ Craig "Only a madman would consider the possibility of war between the two states (France and Germany), for which, from our point of view, there is no rational or moral ground." - Chancellor Adolf Hitler, Oct. 14, 1933
