  1. BTW. I was just joking around guys so don't hang me! Mord.
  2. Is it fun? I was hoping they'd add some names to the units to give it a little more immersion. I brought this up a while back, but didn't want to join another forum just to ask recommend it. Mord.
  3. Here's a poem: Roses are red Violets are blue Stfu about Fulda Gap It's a Haiku. Mord.
  4. Thanks, glad you appreciated my long winded post. I was hoping it didn't come off as defensive as it's hard to infer tone when typing. Now THAT is micro modding! CM's weapon slots are 99x46. The really small stuff I think occurs when you get into special equipment and ranks. Did you do work with Dreaded 88? I dabbled in playing with the Vietnam mod way back in like 99 or 98 and I remember his name being associated with maps, I think? I was never a big fan of CC but I tinkered with it because there wasn't much else going at the time besides SP. Mord.
  5. Nah, I didn't take it as complaining, just giving a little perspective on how much was actually in it. Trust me, I can't wait to get more stuff for BS! I want the Marines and the Brits, but the British are a long ways off, if they even do them. All it says in the PDF about forces is NATO, so who knows what non-US forces they might add later. Mord.
  6. I've probably said this many times before but if I had one piece of advice for anyone that just started modding, THAT would be my number one, most important. Nothing hurts more than starting from scratch after you forgot to save a template! I can't count how many hundreds of hours that cost me way back when. LOL. Now I have a couple hundred pngs and PSD files. Anything from a single beret, to a Luftwaffe helmet eagle, to a headless body, to all the crap you see in one of my portraits (soldier/background/helmet flash/shield) in a multi-layered file. LOL. Good idea, it's definitely a perishable skill. I've had to brush up on a few things this year when making my splash screen for RT because of forgetting how I did something. Thankfully Youtube rescued me. Speaking of notes you should see all my yellow note pads on divisions and stuff, they look like a drunk had a seizure all over them. I finally started creating Word documents to keep better track and make them neater. More lessons learned, eh? If you can figure out the right question to ask, search Youtube some time when you are having difficulties you may pick up some tips that will speed things up. The hard part is figuring out how to express the problem you are having so the search engine will lead you to the right spot. Yeah, back up your stuff! I have multiple copies of on my HD alone. Mord.
  7. They didn't make it into SF off the bat either. Black Sea had quite a lot of content for a title release: 85 vehicles (US 25, RUS 40, UKR 20) and 91 on map formations (US 27, RUS 33, UKR 31). Shock Force had 49 vehicles (US 25, SYR 24) and 43 on map formations (US 11, SYR 32). I'd say BS was chock full. Mord.
  8. Thanks, man. Yeah, I can't wait to get to them as well. I just happened to get lucky and cracked the CW tanker enigma that has been perplexing me for months and ended up going on a binge. You would not believe how many individual pieces make up just one of their portraits. I think for the NZ guy it was seven! It's gonna be a real PIA when I get to the infantry. Mord.
  9. I wanted something to distinguish the Heavy Abts from the typical Panzer crews. So, I opted for this uniform here: labelled "smod_german_wrap_crew-tank_uniform 2" found in brz v1.00.a under soldiers/uniforms That's what the portrait is supposed to be representing. Yeah, the collar tabs could probably be smaller but it's trying to convey that he is a tanker in a very confined amount of space, so some liberties need to be taken. The straps are from his weapon and binoculars, but the pic isn't necessarily a literal representation of how the guy looks when he's in the tank, it's just a portrait to convey he's a crewman. I mean looking at him, there is no tank anywhere. Anyway, thanks. I'll ponder these suggestions but can't make any promises as to whether I'll change him again. Mord.
  10. Thanks! The helmet flash/badges etc. are there for added flavor and flair, they are not meant to be an accurate display of location/size etc. You'll see this if you have used my old BN/FI mods. For instance, I use SS runes without the shield on some Waffen SS units, or have CW flash off to the side of a helmet. I am working in a 51x57 pixel window so artistic liberties are taken in the place of realism when needed. In other words the eagle is there to represent that this guy is in the Luftwaffe and differentiate him from say a Heer soldier but not to historically represent where the eagle should be, it's size, coloring, etc. just a little detail for spice. To put it into perspective, within the 51x57 pixels I am trying to convey a combination of the unit type, its military branch, the season/location, the country, the division, and in some cases the division plus its battalion/regiment structure. The average non-hires helmet texture in CM is 512x512 pixels, and a uniform is 1024x1024, so I am trying to squeeze all that info into a space 10 to 20 times smaller than that which a single helmet (10x smaller) or uniform (20x smaller) uses. Overblown explanation? All that for an LW eagle? LOL. Maybe. But I wanted to take this opportunity to explain a bit of the intricacies of the design, why I make the decisions I do and just how little space there is to do it all in. This is micro modding in the extreme. The only thing more extreme would be the work of guy's like @JuJu who have tackled even smaller stuff in the UI. Mord.
  11. Thank you! You're welcome! I have and there is still more to do! New Panzer Abt portrait. Mord.
  12. Few things I have been working on for your gaming pleasure! Still have work to do for the full RT mod but this was a nice change of pace and theater. It's the early stages but I have been itching to get moving on all the other titles. Mord.
  13. WAH! Yep! Mountains have risen from the plains, glaciers have melted into ponds, and monkeys have given up the trees for time shares in Miami, in the same span as one of Steve's "soons". The last time he said it I watched an ant go from building a sand mound with his face to full on construction worker. Little b***** came out one day driving a bulldozer. Had a cigar in his mouth, a cup off coffee in his hand and a hard hat that read "Proud member of Local 152". Thank an unspecified and non-denominational deity that "soon" hasn't been uttered... Mord.
  14. Ahh, I was pretty sure you'd said something but man, I can't believe it's been a year already. I knew someone had just explained this. Seems, I confused you with @IanL. "I keep wondering about this so I fired up the game. If you want 8km on one side you can make it 2.3km wide. And you cannot get to 4.5km squared you can get 4km by 4.5km. I made this table setting one side to 8km (maxes out) and then getting the max width. Then I reduced the depth by 500m ish at a time and maxed out the width again. If you continue you get the opposite numbers until you get to a width of 8000m and a depth of 2320. So the longest you can get is 8km with a width of 2.3km and the max area you can get is 18.6km^2 at 2.6km by 7km. That's 1860 hectares BTW. OK, OK what the heck is a hectare - in acres that would be 4596 acres." Mord.
  15. Didn't you just tell him this same exact thing a month or so ago? Mord.
  16. I don't want to freak anybody out but I am 92.96% sure that SF2 won't be out in September. Mord.
  17. Having done some testing, yeah, "gun 7 lmg" is the sound file for the mg34. Mord.
  18. I don't think so. I believe they stopped sales on SF1 to keep it from complicating the SF2 upgrade discounts. But you'd just be wasting money anyway. The differences are gonna be stark. Mord.
  19. Why: For variety. When: It's randomized, so one time you might hear file 5 and another time file 3, so on and so forth. Mord.
  20. That is the point where I'd suggest you use hunt for the movement order. Whenever I use it I've always envisioned it as my troops being on full alert, cautious, and ready for any surprises. That is as close to what you want as you will get and it fulfills what you are asking for fairly decently, I think. The minute they make contact they drop. There is no other way to simulate caution nor a way to keep you from doing anything stupid/bad until the guys are taking fire and they start to refuse obvious suicide runs. See if that works better for you. Mord.
  21. Or we could just start the civil war right now and skip the middle man... Mord.
  22. Like Raptorx7 said. But I am pretty sure you don't own any of them because you said you were new to the series. So, the other option is to buy the entire bundle, which you can pre-order now which would give you the biggest savings of 45 bucks off the regular prices. https://www.battlefront.com/shock-force-2/ Mord.
