1. Maybe some kind of antimalware service pays special attention to the Steam version?
2. It was a mod and picture thread that had vehicles made up as the Coca-Cola advertising vehicles that were running in TV spots at the time. Sadly, the pictures are lost in time.
3. Yeah, units that don't fold open are bugs. There is at least one other one in some game.
4. My Steam version of CW loads fast. I can't see any differences to the BFC or Matrix versions. Speaking of it, there are 3 versions, not 2: - battlefront's (which has activation count DRM and gives you the other 2) - Steam build (steam DRM) - Matrix build (serial number based DRM) The Matrix one is attractive from a DRM and management standpoint, but only the battlefront version is available for Mac.
5. There was an interview with Charles and Steve just recently (in CM timescale).
6. I think it is worse. A module and game engine work both require Charles to get involved. The only Charles-free content is scenario packs. Lately we had a serious lack of content that requires Charles. I would be happy with modules even without engine changes, but it is kinda in one pot. Of course this opens up a path to hope that Charles is instead working on engine v5 with multithreading and better integration with modern GPUs.
7. The only question here is why the patch in the winehq bug is not integrated into the official wine yet. Then it would arrive in bottle over time.
8. I'd happily pay $60 for a 3/4th recycled game - if I could. The "Charles-free" new content such as scenario packs is not that interesting to me. I want to play with new toys and I want bugs fixed.
9. Assuming bottles uses Wine to actually run things. There still is a patch needed to Wine to run CMx2. Wine versions missing that will fail when initializing OpenGL.
10. What version do you have there, exactly? I can run CMBB on Win10.
11. That is all true. The catch is that the amount of work that can be done without Charles' involvement is very small. Basically the hired guns cannot do anything at all that any random user couldn't do.
12. For me, CMRT also isn't starting and after many kill cycles it still didn't change its mind. CMCW works fine on first try.
13. But then you have to run in Steam. That prevents some usage scenarios such as having the game open on your desktop and your laptop at the same time.
14. Actually there are three builds:

BFC (license with install count), Mac and Windows
Steam, Winblows only
Matrix build (just serial number), Winblows only
The Matrix build is actually attractive because you don't need to worry about the max install count.
15. Well, the idea is to point beta testers to the proper bug reports, so that they consider copying them to the BFC bug system.
16. We should really use a proper bug tracking system such as github's (free to use). That is way more convenient for the beta testers to traverse and copy those bugs they want to bring into the BFC system.
17. No, if you want that to happen you better keep a list of bugs yourself. Unless you have seen confirmation that a given bug has been entered into the bug tracking system by a beta tester.
18. So they wanted to leave it like that for -what- a whole week before actually releasing the matching patch? I mean they obviously don't do things with the server on weekends. If you hadn't told them to revert they would have left it like that rejecting all public versions, while none of them does anything on there.
19. I am surprised they (Matrix) don't have a separate test/staging server for testing new versions before they go public. Upgrading the one production server to 1.06 before any of the customers can get 1.06 is a little below the standards of good software engineering.
20. Oh, I remember that issue. You probably want to search for gimp in this forum's history, we dealt with it before. I don't remember details.
21. GIMP will do fine unless you already have muscle memory built for Photoshop. Straight BMP export.
