  1. I had slow downloads but no aborts. Is it mumbling something about "preparing download" in advance?
  2. A patch file is not placed, it is applied to the source code via patch(1). Such as cd sourceocde patch -p1 < patchfile The entertaining issue when compiling Wine these days is that you need a 32 bit version. If your main OS is 64 bits then you need to install all the stuff required to compile Wine as 32 bit versions on the 64 bit OS. It will be much more straightforward to use a 32 bit install of Linux to then compile a custom Wine. Maybe you have a spare laptop or something.
  3. Yeah, avoid weird characters in filenames, use something simple. Also make sure the disk isn't full (PBEM moves are big), and that permissions didn't change on the outgoing email folder. Try running as administrator if problems persist.
  4. The demos are not engine v4, though. Steam isn't the new platform everybody uses. And if you buy BFC you also get a steam key. Mac versions are not on Steam at all.
  5. Welcome back. the CMx2 games are, for me anyway, much closer to the fun that CMx1 gave now with engine 4.
  6. Strange, unit setup works fine in Wine at this time.
  7. I also have CMCW in Parallels on a Mac with ATI card. No loading slowdown compared to my Windows laptop with NVidia graphics chip.
  8. Well, TacOps4 has it. But it is not on sale right now, so you are technically correct.
  9. But Battlefront has nothing to do with PBEM++, its tournament mode or the Steam releases. That is Matrix.
  10. Not gonna happen anytime soon. Next item on that list is the tournament mode for PBEM++, which is going into CMCW. Then there's CMBN afterwards.
  11. What graphics card with how much memory do you have?
  12. I don't think that is a realistic hope since the Steam work is done by Matrix, not BFC, and they don't seem to be willing to put any -well- steam behind their efforts. Also, Mac users would be out as long as nobody pushes Steam some more than currently.
  13. That is a useless error message since it fails to say what kind of memory it ran out of.
  14. No, neither is actually the case for CMx2. Even the fastest per-core speed processors are limited on CPU time, not disk throughput, for CMx2. Don't give people bogus purchase advise. DCS for example is the other way round. Without a (particularly fast) SSD you want to strangle it. So SSDs are useful in the general case, just not for CMx2.
  15. Never mess around with patches. Download a fresh all-in-one installer from your user account.
  16. Yes, loading time is mostly CPU time. Storage speed plays almost no role. However, this means that multithreading would help (a lot).
  17. Would the Russians notice that their supply lines are cut given that they have no supplies?
  18. The convention is older than thermobaric weapons, how can they be outlawed by it? Also, wouldn't make sense, they are the same as using more HE.
  19. Try wiggling your audio, e.g. plugging in some headphones.
  20. It would be useful to mention which play mode you are in when reporting works/broken behavior. (single player, pbem etc)
  21. I can confirm that CMRT on Mac overwrites save files in 1-player turn-based as advertised, aka not affected by the bug.
  22. Could also be a faulty unpack of the distribution file (if on Winblows).
  23. No, what I am saying is that on the Mac the UI is actually big enough and not scaled down to negative infinity like on a windows machine with 28" 4k screen.
  24. Well, readable as long as it isn't that red font, I can't read that one.
