  1. Sytass, Will you be so kind to send your 2MB splash screens to WineCape@global.co.za? Much obliged. Sincerely, Charl Theron
  2. Gary, Care to divulge your batch file secrets so that I can do the same with my splash screens? I use Windows98 BTW. Sincerely Charl Theron
  3. Vader, Ditto here. How big is the E-mail file? E-mail me the size and if not too big, I'll take it. [WineCape@global.co.za]WineCape@global.co.za] Sincerely, Charl Theron [ October 19, 2002, 03:22 AM: Message edited by: WineCape ]
  4. If you good at it, you might get a case of free wine all the way from South Africa...
  5. As diligent as ever Wolfe - many many thanks. Sincerely, Charl Theron
  6. Lone infantry man here, On the soccer field, big clashes -- Orlando Pirates playing either Kaizer Chiefs/Mamelodi Sundowns/Jomo Cosmos -- 80,000 people in FNB Stadium, the crowd roaring for your blood... It takes a brave referee with nerves of steel to award a legit penalty in the dying seconds of the match. The "little*" man in the middle, dressed in black, that's me... Regards, Charl Theron * I'm actually 1,93m PS: Served in the 44 South African Battalion (Parabats) in the Angola-Namibian-Cuban-Russian-Jonas Savimbi war, middle '80's in the Caprivi region, just before South West Africa's independance. Seen many a bloody para-trooper after fire fights against SWAPO in the bush war, thankfully I "escaped" without serious harm... Had a ride in '87 in one of our (the SA Defence Force) own pride and joy's below, the G6... An artillery system that rocked the world with its 39km range when it entered service in the early 1980s is being modernized to outrange the latest NATO howitzers. South Africa’s G6 155mm howitzer is now being developed to achieve ranges of 50km, 60km or even 70km, according to an exclusive report in the November issue of Jane’s International Defense Review (IDR). The Denel company of South Africa - formerly known as Armscor - was producing G6 and G5 guns with a 39km range when NATO armies were still equipped with weapons that could only reach between 18 and 30km. European and US manufacturers have fought hard to make up the gap, but now South Africa has taken another giant leap forward, using new ammunition and a long barrel development dubbed the G6-52.This advanced technology draws on lessons learned from operational South African artillery in the Middle East and Africa, the initial inspiration for it having been provided by Gerry Bull, the designer of the Iraqi “Supergun” who was assassinated in 1990. Denel faces difficult decisions regarding which nations to sell the artillery to. Instead of “hotlist” nations, the company is now offering its technology to a number of NATO nations that are struggling to reach performance targets with their own designs. 7. Excellent! And so the freight "adventure" ends. Does Jarmo live close buy? If so, barricade your door. Prost. You deserved it friend. Sincerely, Charl Theron [ October 11, 2002, 12:02 PM: Message edited by: WineCape ]
  8. Good work as always Fuerte! Been using your PBEM Helper for a very long time with excellent results, but I'm still on version 1.1.193 for CMBO! Guess it's time to update to the CMBB version... Sincerely, Charl Theron [ September 02, 2003, 02:25 PM: Message edited by: WineCape ]
  9. Michael, I've noticed on several occasions in CMBO too that this is the case, where a moving AFV (in hunt mode) will spot the ambushing, non moving enemy AFV earlier - albeit only a second or two. In several CMBO games I've played the unbuttoned, non moving, ambushing AFV had a higher crew quality than the unbuttoned moving enemy AFV. Assuming that higher quality crews are supposedly better spotters than lower quality crews, more so if their AFV's are not moving + facing the enemy's line of approach with their AFV's, how does this hold water? 10. What can I say Marcus, as meticulous as ever! Great work and D/L’ing now. PS: Let me know if you want to play in the upcoming CMBB RoW III tourney, most probably starting in Jan. 2003, scenario’s by the Boots & Tracks team. Sincerely Charl Theron
  11. Bunnelle, excellent! Gack! I'm in two minds which one to download! Shame on you sir. Mmmmm, the second one seems just that tad more in the thick of things... Regards, Charl Theron [ September 28, 2002, 10:55 AM: Message edited by: WineCape ]
  12. The new smoke effect from main gun firing adds to the immersion of the game for me. It was one of the first improvements I noticed over CMBO.</font>
  13. Treeburst, As soon as you have all the results, pass it along will you? I'll put them on the same format as RoW I. PS: Feel free to discuss the +/-'s of the scenario's on the thread that KingFish has started in "Scenario Forum". The designers always need extra input from the guinea pigs here Regards, Charl Theron [ September 27, 2002, 01:14 PM: Message edited by: WineCape ]
  14. Ari, sorry to hijack your excellent post. Your tracking details for the wine prize has now been logged and are flown out of the African continent today, 27 September - see TNT's tracking details posted earlier. Good news indeed. Expect arrival date at your door just after the week-end. Stay well, Charl Theron
  15. I'm with Abbott on the smoke that's being discharged from a barrel shot. I like it. Would have been nice to add the shockwave too as per CMBO. However, a good point is raised on the angle of the camera in the TAB+1 view. CMBO's tilt is that few degree's better to judge the immediate surrounds IMHO. Sincerely, Charl Theron
  16. The CM franchise success formula is simple. One word can describe their success and popularity, as it is very much like: CHESS Very easy to learn, very simplistic to implement, but oh so difficult to master on a consistent basis. This is only "CHECK!" gentlemen, we are still searching for "CHECKMATE!"
  17. Geez, this is suddenly a busy BB .... Dropping off to 4-5 pages in less than 12 hours. I wonder why? [ September 26, 2002, 03:41 AM: Message edited by: WineCape ]
  18. BRILLIANT POST! PS: Ari, your replaced wine prize is to be tracked on TNT's Track My Package, the consignment tracking number being 826781685 Expect the track details to show up within the next few days, as TNT's site is currently not yet updated with your details and will result in a "not found" status. Sincerely, Charl Theron [ September 25, 2002, 10:26 AM: Message edited by: WineCape ]
  19. Well, my CMBO order went “missing” 2 years ago and Steve Grammont replaced the order, assuming it was lost. The replaced CMBO arrived 2-3 weeks later, promptly followed by the 1st CMBO order that was for some inexplicable reason re-routed via Madagascar. Thus I received 2 x CMBO and offered to re-send a copy back. Steve graciously declined and I gave my second copy to a friend in Namibia. Steve has mentioned that they have paid a company to do the ordering/shipping for CMBB. So here’s hoping that we will receive the US version of CMBB soon.
  20. Yup, see here http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=23;t=000862
  21. One of the best resources for CM up and running again. Always a pleasure to visit your site Tom. Thank you! Sincerely, Charl Theron
  22. WOHAAAAO! Hold 'em horses MD! Mr A. Fox still owes the CMBO community a Chaffee mod, yes sir? Or have I missed that excellent one being released lately? Best wishes, Charl Theron
  23. What can I say.... This is the reason why I support this company gentlemen! Even though I am not touched by the CDV manual debacle as Africa is luckily not lumped to the rest of Europe, it is good to note that sometimes 5 people do more than the whole personnel division of a Fortune 500 company. Ek dank u by voorbaat, BTS. Kind regards, Charl Theron [ September 22, 2002, 05:04 AM: Message edited by: WineCape ]
  24. To be honest, it was hand delivered to me via a German wine friend that I phoned to pick up a copy for me (for another buddy). He arrived on 20 September 11:15pm at Cape Town International airport. It’s the CMBB CDV version - my CMBB US version order is still pending. Guess what? I was not a good friend as I opened the package to “test drive” CMBB – couldn’t wait, hehe. My friend just have to wait until my US version pitches up before I will give him his CDV version. There is no way that I will be without CMBB, even for a day or two! Tsk Tsk, this addiction has gotta stop… [ September 25, 2002, 06:47 AM: Message edited by: WineCape ]
