  2. Did some digging and found this on the After The Battle web site. Issue No. 48 GERMANY SURRENDERS Surrender of Gruppe Elster; Unconditional Surrender; Caserta, Italy; Lüneburg, Germany; Innsbruck, Austria; Baldham, Germany; Wageningen, Netherlands; Reims, France; Berlin, Germany; The Channel Islands; Lorient, France; St Nazaire, France; Dunkirk, France. It Happened Here - Michael Wittmann's Last Battle. £3.10 CODE A048 I have sent a email to the company asking about the possability of ordering the magazine . Regards Måkjager ps...AFAIK this magazine was published sometime around 1984/85. Below is i hope alink to the web site for anybody who wishes to try get hold of a copy of this magazine web page [ May 30, 2002, 06:23 PM: Message edited by: Måkjager ]
  3. Yes Kilgore..those are the pix i am refering to. regards Måkjager
  4. I have a difficulty in accepting the theory that Typhoons knocked out Wittmans Tiger due to the one photo of the ko Tiger 007 that Wittman was in command of that day. To the best of my knowledge Typhoons carried 60lb rockets which they used to fire on enemy ground forces. These i think would have been fired in a volley to best maximise the chance of success against a target. Looking at the same photo of the ko Tiger that has been published in Panzers in Normandy - Then and Now , Tigers in Combat 2 , Michael Wittman and the Tiger Commanders of the Leibstandarte and any other publication with the same photo i fail to see any evidence of impact craters from the other rockets which must have fallen near the Tiger. I may be wrong as the angle of the shot is not expansive enough to allow us to see these other craters but i do doubt that it was a rocket firing Typhoon that caused the damage to the Tiger. Furthermore we are told that the Tigers in the force began to take fire from the right flank. It would have been common sense and standard military practice for the Tigers to turn and also to rotate their turrets to try engage the enemy...presenting their thickest armour to the threat If this is what happened then the turret side with the escape hatch would have begun to move towards the right...beginning to align it with the rear deck / engine compartment that is allegedly have been the hit point of the rocket. If you look at that side of the turret in the picture you will see that there is no evidence of blast damage to either the hatch , zimmerit or rear turret stowage box. If you take the scenario that the Typhoon fired and hit the rear deck while the turret was facing near the 12 o'clock position..then how come the rear stowage box is still intact with the turret? With no sign of extensive blast damage? I have no experience of explosives..but i do know that 60lb of HE is 60lb of hurt..and that a "flimsy" stowage box would have been ripped asunder from the blast. For me Joe Ekins did his job that day. Regards Måkjager
  5. A SdKfz 251/10 armed with the 37mm Pak 38 gun destroyed a T-34 from 1000m by hitting such a fuel tank while serving under Peipers command in Russia. ( or so it says in the "Jochen Peiper "book by Patrick Agte ) Regards Måkjager [ May 12, 2002, 03:54 PM: Message edited by: Måkjager ]
  6. Hi lads...well what can i say but thank you for the kind reaction and encouraging words I had hoped at this stage to have been able to offer it to the community...but real life has a nasty habit of intruding upon my Mod making. Now down to some more nuts and bolts. As "generic" mods the Tiger will come in Bi green , bi redbrown , tri-colour with optional early-mid / late wheels ...ie dish type(early/mid ) or steel rimmed ( late) like in the pix. They will also come as either clean or dirty and weathered...zimmerit and un-zimm. There will be a cross on its side and some rear turret numbers a la my previous Jagdpanther mods. As for unit markings/insignia..not too sure just right now as i will also be making the 101 / 102 WSS Tiger Battalion vehicles as well..they will have their own cammo schemes ( hoping to do as historically accurate as possible ). Other things....i know that it is difficult to please everbody all of the time..but i will try The spare tracklinks on the front hull / turret "MAY" also come in optional earthy / metallic / rusty sets. As i dont know how else to do this they wil be included in an on the specific bmp files..this may mean the actual zip gets bigger and bigger Not forgetting some kill rings for the gun either. I still also have to work up wear and tear to the vehicles but when i progress a bit futher i will give another update........oh and did i mention CMMOS compatability. 2 Gigs and increasing. Thanks for your time Måkjager. ps..Gyrene..i got a Radeon with an ADC via OWC and what a difference it makes. psps AndrewTF... i will be willing to barter once i feel i have a deal for you ..and i dont mind my pz crew wearing pea pattern boots As for grass.....on the grounds of the 5th Amendment.....
  7. Sorry if i have kept anybody waiting ( Pawbroon in particular) Still much to do web page ps..it may take a few seconds to load. Regards Måkjager
  8. hi M . Hofbauer...i tried to send you this info when i sen your request on the Missing Lynx forum..if you already got this info ...sorry ..but your email did not work when i sent it. According to Tigers in Combat I 19..05.44- Thw 5 KT are not combat ready.Considerations given to either send them back to Germany or destroy them. 15.07.44- The KT are deleted from the inventory of Pz Lehr Div. , crews assigned to 1./PzAbt 302(FkL).The unit is redeployed to REIMS and established with new Stugs. After several wanderings on railway the TIGERS make it to the southern part of the Department of EURE-ET-LOIRE (France) 13.08.44-The five tanks arrive in CHATEAUDUN.the are deployed within the city defence against the approaching US ARMY. Tiger no. "10" is positioned NW at the N155 , "13" stands in the west near N827 , "12" is in position at the junction of N10/N824. The 2 remaining Tiger II tanks "02" and "11" cover the river LOIRE to the North at the Place le Mail. 15.08.44- A scout patrol from the 3rd Armoured Cavalry Regiment approching from MONTIGNY-LE-GANELLON runs into tank"12". The crew of the 3 vehicles are captured by the german infantry.using the coax mg , 1 Jeep and 1 M8 are stopped. Later "12" retreats to the RUE DE VARIZE. 16.08.44-Tiger "13" is being shelled by US artillery fire without effect.Tank "12" fires several rounds with the main gun to bringing an enemy advance to a standstill. In the evening tank "10" leaves its position tojoin Tiger "02" and "11" at LA MAIL. 17.08.44-During the night tanks "12" and "13" are left behind by their crews. "12" is set on fire. The other 3 tanks drive to the Boulevard Kellermann at approx. 0300hrs. Arrivin gthere Tiger "11" breaks down and is left behind. The other two tanks take the N155 to the east and get to VARIZE in the following night.Tiger "10" then breaks down and is retreived a short dostance by "02" 18.08.44- At approx. 2000hrs Tiger "10" is blown up. "02" continues to make its way towards JANVILLE. Shortly before TOURY the tank suddenly takes a sharp turn to the left ( final drive damage?) , runs over a tree and comes to a stop. Abandoned later by its crew. from Funklenkpanzer we find the the 5 KTs that were released to the unit were never cleared by Henschel for field use. Chassie numbers ran from 280001-280005 . There is no evidence ( AFAIK ) that the KTs were used to command the remote tanks. The FkL unit did use the remotes when they were equipped with the Stugs though..several actions..but most of the Stugs suffered battle damage and the company commander was killed. Hope this is of some help Måkjager

  10. Ah haaa. Michael...have you tried DropZip from Alladin..there should be a free demo on the web page. I use DropZip to send mods to CMHQ or pc testers and it works. Just make sure the encoding is set up for PC. Get another demo of it. If you get DropZip...open up its preference and click on UUEncoding.Tick the box "Convert file format for DOS. Click on MacBinary and make sure it is NEVER selected Things might work this time. But that Hotmail account will also be a problem as there is a limit to the size of the attachments allowed...i have had files/pix that were just over 100k returned to me from a Hotmail user. Hope this helps...just knew there was somfink else i forgot to tell you Regards Måkjager ps...try some Mac magazines that come with cds...they sometimes have the software included [ April 11, 2002, 03:02 PM: Message edited by: Måkjager ]

  15. Thanks for the concern Michael , but i am using a Apple 17" LCD at its optimum res of 1280x1024. I checked Apples site and it does not say anything about refresh rate. Regards Måkjager
  16. Hello Hoopenfaust . I have a fair number of mods installed alright but this "blur" problem is present even on a clean install on my 2nd seperate HD with its own System folder. While i was /am working on my Tiger mod i noticed that it ( the hull top ) seemed very blurry in that the tow cables looked nothing at all like how i had made them. I sent of a WIP of the mod to Marco and Gordon...and they both reported clear images. Dave ( aikidorat ) sent me a pix from his iBook....its even blurrier on his ( its got a 8MB ATI card ) Tis very strange and annoying. Not having "info" is a problem my system doesnt seem to suffer...just thankful i got the sky sorted out with those older nVidia drivers....was getting quite used to playing with IR equipped Jagdpanthers I am using a DP 800 G4 with OS 9.2.2 and i have a Gig of RAM coupled with the GF 3 card and the new v3.0 drivers( and this is the ONLY game i play on it ). Game play is smooth ...no slow downs unless on a huge map with lots of units. Getting to the stage i will be looking to send off a few emails to nVidia and Apple. As for Dublin at this time of year....tis the same as any other time CHANGABLE....sunny one minute..next raining ...though today it was sunny...and now we are overcast. best Måkjager waiting to see if a ADC Radeon 8500 appears
  17. Hi Hoop... i dl and instaled last night. No major problems. One thing that did happen was when i was quitting ...the houses showed up transperent in the Yes / No black box. Only happend once. As for the driver itself....seems stable and graphice seem little clearer..though the clarity for my Tiger I mod hull top is still not what it should be (( compared to the pix marco sent me from his PC 8MB card vs my Mac 64MB GF 3 . regrads Måkjager
  18. Paw....they have either all gone to sleep , or are too busy growing onions regards Måk
  19. Great Marcel...only took a count of 90 this time Mb my wee country should declare war on some of our friends...mb then the victors will see fit to give us affordable broadband access Måk
  20. Marcel... i clicked on the link in your sig to take me to M&M and it took me a count of 180 before all the buttons appeared on the page. This is way slower than before it seems to me..a poor 56k enduser Måk
  21. PzLd.....God be with the days when i "only" had a shelf ful of unmade kits. It is with terror that i try to go asleep at night with the thought of an attic full of said same unmade kits!!!! So.....this drinks party....anybody suggest a meeting point somewhere in the world that is kind to hangover ps...i would still say if you have kits still outstanding ..try make em as BTS "might" be still short .....will just have to wait and hear from Dan. regards Måkjager
  22. Good show PL with your models...i have to say the 234/1 looks good for a kit that has been knocked around Did you use the Dragon Models Ostketten tracks on the Stug ?? I will pass on your congrats to my bud He has won a couple of medals at Euro Militare for his AFVs....scratch build some unusual stuff...has a Soviet Inter war year A/C with tracks in a nice winter scheme. I think the Album idea is good too...share ideas and grow Regards Måkjager
  23. web page I have added some more models to the page. The yellow / brown Pz II , 251/22 HT and the Flakpanzer are my bud Ritchie Keanes ..the others are mine. Michael...regarding the "clean-ish" look on the model..i painted it that way so as if the model makes it into CMBB dirt can be added to it...i wanted the detail to be seen ..which can always be mucked up later if so desired regards Måkjager [ March 30, 2002, 09:53 AM: Message edited by: Måkjager ]
