1. The window you are trying to scroll has to be active. Also, the cursor has to be over the field in the window you are trying to scroll. This may not be your problem, just trying to help.

 3.
quote:
Originally posted by Fairbairn-Sykes Trench Knife: Perhaps he will not be depicted as literally standing (possibly kneeling) - but, he's stopped hiding and he's more visable to the enemy.

Yes, kneeling is what I meant.
 4. In addition to the mechanics of the process as already stated, you want to have the mortars out of LOS of the enemy, preferably protected by woods or behind a building or ridge. The HQ should be in a place where he can stay hidden while still having good LOS to the target. When an HQ spots for on board mortars he stays hidden, as opposed to an arty FO that stands up to observe his target. I like to put my spotting HQ in the upper floor of a building or at the edge of a woods on a hill so that he can have a wide field of view while remaining hidden.
 5. It was a rifle grenade. Units cannot carry ammo for other units in CM. When a unit runs LOW on ammo it can scrounge and/or conserve ammo so that it can continue to fire at a reduced rate. Units such as mortars and bazookas can't do that and can no longer fire when they are out of ammo.
 6. I just went outside and the weather is still warm. I guess Christmas came early this year!!!
 7. It's not that I want it, it's just an idea. In the spirit of Madmatt's updates from the olden days. Super Ted usually just does one thread a day and then adds to it as necessary. It works for me.
 8. How about adding one more exclamation point for each update?
 9.
quote:
Originally posted by Amidst_Void: The example of the American Infantry (above) was used in the situation that, if I have unit bases on and I'm Axis then I would also be able to see unit bases on for my opponent, hence, it's as if my units are aiming for neon green boxes ect.

Your units are aiming at the enemy units. Your units won't see the bases under the enemy units until the see the enemy units first. The bases don't help your units spot the enemy, they are only there to help you locate the units since they are tiny and blend into the terrain easily. Whether you have unit bases on or not has no effect on game play, only on your enjoyment of the game. It's the same with smoke or fog. Tunring them off doesn't increase the range of your units' visibility; it only helps you see things better. If the smoke or fog is there, it is there whether you turn the effects on or off.
 10.
quote:
Originally posted by Cubbies Phan: I have a 64MB Geforce2 GTS and the only problems I see with graphics are is that open-toped vehicles like halftracks and vehicles like Hummels and Marders have problems. Like the textures around the outside edge that cover the open-air part of the vehicle turn into verticle or diagonal sections.

I have the same card and have the same problem, but only when I zoom in on the vehicles.
 11. How about CMHQ Update #1, CMHQ Update #2, etc. That would never get stale.
 12. Welcome back. So, you are saying not to bother upgrading to a GeForce 3 if all I really play is CM? Damn, what am I going to do with all that cash I saved up?
 13. You bastard!!! More BMP folder bloat. Thank you. Actually, I am having trouble with the link: La page demandée est inconnue du serveur des Pages Perso Wanadoo. Veuillez vérifier l'URL que vous avez demandée. [ 09-28-2001: Message edited by: Pvt. Ryan ]
 14. In one game a FB caused a Marder crew to abandon. For the rest of its turns the FB kept strafing the Marder. I suppose this isn't entirely unrealistic because from the air a plane wouldn't know that the Marder was not knocked out unless it was burning, but it sure was frustrating to see the waste of air power.
 15.
quote:
Originally posted by M Hofbauer: those chess pieces really needed a dust-off, and I'm not talking about medevac.

Yes, I know. I have a parrot which creates a lot of dust during the molting process. As a result, dust covers everything in my living room. It took me forever just to get them that clean. My mom bought me that chess set about 20 years ago. The set came painted that way and represents the battle of Waterloo, in case you couldn't tell I used to play with the pieces as army men, so they got a little beat up over the years. I touched them up with model paints as best I could.
 16.
quote:
Originally posted by ElGuapo: Think of CMBB as a whole new game in the series (which it is), not just CMBO 2 with some slight mods to the engine. I'm just glad to see CMBO was profitable enough that this company could produce a sequel.

I don't see CMBB as a sequel to CMBO. CMBB is the second installment in the Combat Mission series, while the sequel will be based on the new engine, CMII. CMBB will have improved and different features than CMBO. I believe the improvements will be the result of lessons learned in CMBO while the different features will be the result of fighting on the Russian Front. Both games are based on essentially the same engine. Think of CMBB as Close Combat 2 through 5 or the titles in the Battleground series. Each game was basically the same but with enhancements with each installment. We are fortunate that BTS is not simply re-releasing CMBO with different graphics and calling it CMBB; there will no doubt be significant improvements. But it is not the sequel to CMBO, it is the next title in the series. I do agree though that it will be a bit frustrating going back to CMBO and not having some of the enhanced features available. I still don't know what the official word is on this, but hopefully BTS will release a patch that can incorporate some of the easily ported features.
 17. Maximus asked me to forward this:
quote:
I have added some new uniforms to the set. Mainly a couple Scipio uniforms. I'm also working on a RuleSet for Allied uniforms in the same matter. Using both Andrew's and Scipio's uniforms. For those that aren't too crazy about Andrew's YELLOW US '44 uniforms, I have done some really cool repaints of both the regular US Army and the US Airborne. I have basically given them a Band of Brothers and Saving Pvt. Ryan look.

[ 09-27-2001: Message edited by: Pvt. Ryan ]
 18. If you are talking about the set he released for CMMOS, go to CMHQ where you can download the CMMOS program and the 29 other CMMOS ready mods that are there. Read the directions that come with CMMOS. The program is self extracting so it's easy to install. To use Maximus' uniform mods you would just download the zip file, unzip it, and copy and paste all the bmp files to the CMBO folder like you would for any other mod. The only extra step is you have to paste the ruleset into the CMMOS program folder because his ruleset is not included in the basic CMMOS release. After you install CMMOS and read the read.me file you will understand. [ 09-27-2001: Message edited by: Pvt. Ryan ]
 19.
quote:
Originally posted by 109 Gustav: Look at a chessboard sometime. The graphics haven't been updated for a thousand or so years, the units aren't historically accurate...

What do you mean?
 20. No, sorry, no link, but you can probably find it with a Google search or somefink.
