  1. I recommend "Bridgehead at Benicourt" and "Paderborn-far from over", both from Wild Bill (Go figure ). ------------------ Frag Hanoi Jane
  2. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by curih: BTW, can I have my head back now?<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> No. Your head will be put on display to warn those who dare bring up flat tires again! ------------------ Frag Hanoi Jane
  3. Guys, Horses are already modelded in the game. If you have offboard arty availible, or if your troops are well fed and supplied, then it's assumed that horses are included.
  4. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>When the scale is individual squads, then just about everything that directly effects front line troops is relevant at CM's scale.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> You know, he's right. I see no reason why we can't have Battleships and Rail guns modeled in the game. ------------------ Frag Hanoi Jane
  5. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>And then inform me on the fastest way to kill the crew.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Sneak a SMG squad close to the tank, drill a Panzerfaust into it's side, and then let loose on any one climbing out. ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...
  6. Two big advantage that Zooks have over Piats and Shrecks: 1) Number of rounds. Zooks carry 8 (sometimes as many as 12), while Piats and shrecks are normally 5 or 6. 2) Zooks can run for longer distances without tiring, allowing them to support infantry squads in an attack. ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...
  7. LOL!!!! Now what inspired you to think this one up?
  8. I must be a fool because I decided to try it out with my dinky P2-233. Only up to turn 5 so far, but I'm still at it.
  9. Don't give up, keep looking. Maybe you need more men in there. Just a thought. Just to give you an idea of how rich the reward is, I had 9 platoons of Glider troops inside a small farmhouses that showed up as "**". All you heard was glass breaking, men cursing, furniture being thrown out the windows. Finally I hear a "I found it!!!" and one guy goes running out the front door with a copy of CM2 in his hands. Don't give up, trust me it's worth it.
  10. A blast from the past. http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/004042.html
  11. Wrong answer guys, The "*" and "**" indicate a prize located inside the building, for which your troops will gain a morale bonus if found. The "*" symbol indicates a lower value prize, such as cigarettes, chocolate bars, or a porno mag. The "**" is of a higher value and could be a case of beer or a couple of prostitutes hiding in an upstairs closet. The trick is to actively search for them, so regardless of enemy fire (who most likely wants to keep the prize for themselves)you must keep looking, moving your men throughout the inside. If there is an upstairs, send two squads up there as well. Remember, the greater the number of squads you can cram inside the building, the greater the chance you will find it. Good luck. ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...
  12. Keep in mind the battles you fight in Ops are just a small segment of the front line. You can annihilate the attacker in your sector and actually gain ground in a counterattack, but 3 klicks down the line somebody else is being overrun and you have to pull back to prevent your flanks from being turned. ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...
  13. I voted, but I think I screwed up and voted for Buchanan by mistake. Can I do it over...Ooops! Sorry, wrong forum
  14. Thanks for the quick reply. I have one question, though. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>One is that the mortar team on-map has to do all their own adjustment fire and such. Therefore, each mortar is being concious about what it does, whereas a 4 mortar battery off-map is firing as a team with another entity calling the shots.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Wouldn't a 4 tube battery deployed behind a hill with a company commander atop the hill acting as a spotter function in the same way as an arty FO and offboard battery? Just curious
  15. Is it me, or is there a difference in the ROF? I've watched numerous mortar barrages and it seems to me that the offboard battery will achieve a higher ROF than a comparably equipped onboard unit. The larger calibur stuff arrive in the usual 4 round clusters, but the mortars (especially the 81mm) seem to "rain". I've tried to duplicate this with a 4 tube onboard battery but can't seem to achieve the same results. Granted they maintain a decent ROF, but it's a steady 4 round cluster. The offboard stuff at first arrives normally, but really starts to pick up after about 15-30 seconds. I'm curious to know if anyone else has noticed this.
  16. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by M. Bates: The M8 Greyhound (armoured car) is the best the unit in CM for these reasons: 1) It is fast at 55mph, is still quick over grassy areas, and its turret is lightning fast. 2) It can frontally kill any German vehicle up to and including a Mark IV Panzer. 3) If it misses its first shot, it will always get another away because its turret normally stays with the target when the Greyhound is moving. 4) A German tank with a slow or very slow turret cannot kill a Greyhound which is moving from cover to cover and only showing itself briefly, and anti-tank guns have similar luck. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> The M18 Hellcat gives you all this, and it's natural prey doesn't stop at the Mark IV, but keeps going to include the King Tiger in certain circumstances. ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...

  18. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Did he carry his MG? Did he abandon it after surrendering and thus was able to move? What gives?<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> When he started to run was he listed as a member of a MG unit or as crew? If crew, then he abandoned his weapon. If not...? ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...
  19. Would you rather save your men and lose some morale, or lose the men and morale. Withdraw has no delay, and that has saved many a squad or platoon from being overrun. ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...
  20. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Yes, only abandoned vehicles can be repaired, but only if they are within your current lines. Even then they won't show up for several battles later.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Although I agree with you, I found that not to be entirly true. In a recent operation I blew away a Stug within my lines, only to have it disappear during the night. I had 2 squads in buildings on either side of it, yet it was dragged away. Strange. ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...
  21. fdevassy, The best way to prevent tanks from bogging is to assign a squad of combat engineers to each tank, and have them lay an asphalt road ahead of the tank as it advances forward into battle. During battles in heavy fog or at night I recommend you use 2 squads, the second one will install reflectors on each side of the road. Good luck ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...
  22. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Oddball_E8: Besides it could be fun sometime just to play the recce units.. Ive tried to make an operation that starts with the recce units but you actually wind up playing the first battle like an attack with recce units... Im definately pro recce command... <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> I highly recomend you play "49th recce" by Germanboy. You can find it on the "Der Kessel" website. I found it well balanced, with a very nice map to boot. ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...
  23. Which ever one is commanded by that guy "W.B. Wilder". That dude is out of control. I once saw him take out a Panther G, a Hetzer, a Kingtiger, and 3 kubelwagons, all with one shot! ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...
  24. Just tried it myself, works fine. You have to give it a few minutes to load.
  25. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Meanwhile, send me an email if you canĀ“t wait<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> I can't wait, but can't find your e-mail address either. Can you send it to my home address? It's listed in my profile. Thanks
