  1. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>P.S. Charles and I did the first test. Unfortunately, we both have the same CPU so this problem wasn't noticed until we widened the testing group.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> There's the solution, we all need to buy the same CPU that Steve and Charles are using. Problem solved. ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...
  2. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Juardis: Anybody see the turret rotate when immobilised? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Sure, as far back as the beta days. I remember playing CE and a Sherman that became immobilized 5 seconds into turn one went ahead and bagged 3 Stugs. ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...
  3. In a recent PBEM game against John Kettler I reversed a Firefly and he threw a track. The ground conditions were dry, clear weather, and no incoming fire. I was then forced to spend the remaining 5-7 turns "bluffing" his Panther into thinking the 'fly was still operational. Talk about sweating every turn! ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...

  5. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Once you select the timer option it is set for the rest of the game. Sorry, but this is not going to change. People will get a feel for how long they should set the timer for after playing for a while<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Thank you for the quick reply ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...
  6. IPA, There are 2 ways to add quotes from other posts: 1) above each post there are 4 buttons, one of which is a "Reply with quote". 2) next time you post look to the left of the text window and you'll see a button labeled "UBB code is on". Click on that and it will explain it all to you. Hope this helps.
  7. Question regarding the timer settings: Is the timer duration "locked" once the game is started? In otherwords, say I start a game with the timer set at 5 minutes. After a few turns both my opponent and myself decide this is too long and we could play faster, can we reset it to 2 minutes? ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...
  8. That works As for Bold and Italic words, the next time you are typing a post look to your left where it says "UBB code is on" (just above smilies legend). Click on that and it will explain it all for you. ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?... [This message has been edited by Kingfish (edited 11-02-2000).]
  9. Lordfluffers, No big deal, but you need to take care of your initial post or else others will have their scenarios spoiled. Go back and edit your first post and add a spoiler warning. Here is an example: ****SPOILER**** * * * * * * Put this just above the first sentence. It should be sufficient warnings to others.
  10. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Lordfluffers: Im not being scenario specific. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Sorry my friend, but you are. You have made mention of specific units in certain scenarios. Anyone that hasn't played those scenarios (myself included) can now expect to come across those units. 11. Just some friendly advice. Next time add a spoiler warning to your post when you want to discuss specifics about a scenario. It preserves the FOW to those that haven't played them yet. As to the AI's performance, it's understood that the AI handles defense much better than attack. Your best bet is PBEM or hotseat against a human. ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...
  12. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Kingfish, can I borrow Petrovsky's tank for a quick second in my PBEM game?<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Sorry 109 Gustav, The tank is Kaput. I had to take it out or else it would have ruined my game, so I commanded a conscript 2in mortar team to KO it. There was only one man left alive in the team, he was surounded and being shot at by 2 companies of elite SMG squads from 5 meters away, and his LOS to the tank was obscured by smoke, woods, tall pines, and a small city. Nevertheless, even after being pinned, grenaded, bombarded, routed, broken and violated he managed to lob his one remaining mortar round a distance of 5 kilometers and get top penetration hit. General Petrovsky, Can you send an ARV over here to drag your dead tank away? Thanks. ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...
  13. What the...!?! I'm playing a PBEM game and this tank just rolled on to the field from the map edge. The TC looks lost. Anyone missing a tank? Is this a bug? ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...
  14. I pray that the "Follow" command will be included. There are about a dozen scenarios in my HD just waiting for that command. ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...
  15. One thing to keep in mind is that for the most part, in the majority of battles of CM's scale, the CO and BN commander's job is mostly done. The combat units are in place, well supplied, recon has been performed and processed, C&C to other assets (arty, reserves) has been established, and a general battle plan has been passed down to the platoon commanders. That's not to say that the CO and BN commanders should take a cig break once the bell goes off. They should be there to rally shocked and routed troops, or to control reserve formations.
  16. Question: Does the proximity of enemy units have any effect on whether a KO'd vehicle can be recovered? During a previous operation I had killed a Stug within my lines, yet it disappeared overnight. I had two full strength rifle squads in buildings on either side, each within grenade throwing distance. Your thoughts? ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...

  18. I was about to say it's where Ted Kennedy got too drunk and crashed his car, but realized that could be anywhere.
  19. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>There is an easy solution to that – you drink the water, and the resulting ordinance is far more potent than simple H20.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Excellent Idea, should work well in mountain fighting (as long as you command the high ground) For an urban setting, where the fighting is room to room, I have instructed my troops to consume copious amounts of eggs, cheese, and beans prior to battle (at least 30 minutes). Although this is a highly effective tactic, care must be taken not to cram more than two men in the same room, else the resulting "Backblast" will light up the room as easily as a Panzershreck.
  20. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Write the program for a 64 meg video card, don't worry people will buy one ! Push the graphics to the limit.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> One thing that needs to be realized is how small a market there is for games like CM. It's tough enough to sell a wargame in todays enviroment, throw in the fact that it deals strictly with WW2, that isn't real time, and what you have is a product that attracts a very small segment of computer gamers (we are a weird breed, aren't we ). It doesn't make sense to then "up the ante" to the point where you lose a sizeable portion of your customers. I would be left out if this game was coded for a 64 meg Video card, as I'm not about to fork over $200+ just to see every tracer.
  21. SuperTed, Thanks for the quick reply, but I'm confused. Does this mean that all night battles in this Op are "quiet"? ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...
  22. Greetings all, While playing this Op today I managed to isolate and kill a Stug that penetrated my perimeter. I then counterattacked to recapture my original positions, and had actually pushed beyond that by the end of game one, so the dead Stug was well within my lines by the end of the first game. Then game 2 starts and the Stug is gone! My understanding is Vehicles that are removed in between Op battles are repaired and possibly return at a later date, yet I can't understand how this Stug was removed. I had two rifle squads in buildings on either side of it, so the possibility of the Germans getting a recovery vehicle in there is nil. Also, After setting up my forces for game 2 I hit 'Go' and game 2 ended immediately, and game 3 started. Bug? Fluke? Comments? ------------------ ...This is Romeo-Foxtrot, shall we dance?...
