1.
quote:
Originally posted by Demus: Part 5. Map notes - ability to mark the battlefield map with notes (something like the map landmarks, only that you would be able to place them during the game) 6. Order of battle - have a screen with all your units and status ("health", combat status, AMMO, etc) 7. Waypoints when moving multiple friendly units 8. Improved pathfinding when paths of two or more units collide - I know how though this can be and the CM pathfinding as a whole is already quite excellent, however, inserting a pause command when this happens instead of always reversing might be more useful 9. 1-9 hotkeys for units - I know, it sounds too RTS-like, however it would be nice to instantly select and lock view to your 155mm FO, wouldn't it ? Especially if you had him sneak and hide in some thick woods somewhere 5 rounds ago 10. Option to compile all the movie phases into one complete instant replay movie - especially useful if you want to show off to a friend how you crushed your other friend on that 1-month ongoing PBEM battle. Oh, of course, makes it easier to review your tactical mistakes too. 11. Option of having a vehicle help unbog another vehicle - your Panther G stuck in the mud? call 0801-YOUROTHERPANTHERG. Don't know how realistic that would be though in battle conditions.

I really like those Ideas. I large battle I spent more time looking for my units than telling them what to do. It'd be a really usefull feature of storing your units into groups (1-9) like that! Plus adding your own notes on the map would aslo help greatly. Where you want to attack, where you last put a tank and so on! Plus the movie feature, everyone is wanting that feature implemented, who doesn't. It'll be like watching the war fottage you see on the History Channel! Can't wait!
2. Thanx MadMAtt, Man oh man, more and more suprises for CMBB, this will be awesome!
3. That looks NICE, but a bit to dark. Is it just the pic or is realy that dark in the game. Nice work though!
4. Oh......hmmmm I would and want to but...I'll contact you! Gimme a while!
5. Ok, well what kind of scenario, operation is it? Historical, fictional, how long is the scenario (turns, battles)? I will gladly help you just reply!
6. Maximus and others, why do you need to ruin people's day(s). All this guy wants is to play CM with a little bit of "style". And you come along and say something idiotic, start a flame and get the thread locked up. Leave people be, if you have nothing constructive to say or add, say nothing at all. Saying idiotic **** like that isn't going to make up for all those years of ubuse by your father. So stop trying and leave it be!
7. Thanx for the help Kingfish and Admiral. I will surely drop him a line. This battle was awesome. I will most definetly download the other battle he has done! Thanx!
8. This scenaio kicked A**! Who is the author, e-mail? Who ever it is good job. I like the way you made the terrain and instead of bocage, which I hate! You put scattered trees! I found that real nice, since German tanks can pass and it's isn't so slow. Spoiler: Here is a quick summary. I chose to attack on the right (axis point of view). I put all the crack FJ's on the right side of the map on the right side of the road. I gave them all the arty support all the shreck but 1 and seven StugIV's. Also they had 3/4 of the HMGs and around 20LMGs as support. The rest of my foces were center and I placed the rest of the LMGs as flank protection. The rest of the inf. was also center with the 4 remaining Stug's. These guys were sort of a reserver and flank protection. So I moved forward. The crack FJ's did not meet any resistace at all on the right advancing all the way to the edge of the town by turn 18. In the mean time the Americn attacked in the center. I had my troops ready to meet them. The Americans were all killed. They assauled along with shermans but all of them were knocked out by my Stugs. I only lost one stug for the price 8 shermans. Also in between this (nice little action) I sent 2 FJ sqauds as recon along the paved road leading to hill 30. They met 2 shermans. My 2 squads opened fire at about 25m killed the TC's on both shermans and procced to fire their faust, knocking both tanks out in one minute. My troops suffered no cualties. A third sherman with a few troops showed up. The squads knocked out the sheramn right away with their faust. The inf. came next and were killed. This time I sufferd light casultie. Next my 2 squads found a pair of 60mm mortars, killing both. These guys are doing some damage. I sent them forward again along the road, one sqaud on each side. They run into 2 shermans and about a platoon of inf. They manage to knock out the first sherman but with the last faust. The American inf. attacks and causes severe caulties on the heroic sqauds. So I withdrew them ending their rein of terror. Their finnaly tally, 4 Shermans, two 60mm mortars and I'd guess about 15-25 americans dead. So I finnaly get to the edge of the town on the right meeting no ressistence along the way. I stop at the edge right below the wooded treeline. Finnaly I meet some American trrops. Ofcoaurse I suffer light causlties at first contact, but all 7 stugs open fire with about 6-8 LMGs. The Americans last about 2 min. I overun their possitins storiming into the town. I quickly take out the 57mm and the rest of the Garrison by turn 25. I quickly consalidate my possition and await any counter-attack. I set up my Stugs, set up reserves and my FO's which as of yet have to call some arty down. For about 2 turns I wait and nothing. So I decide to sent 2 squads up toward and beyond the swampleft of the city. I spot 2 shermans. My troops knock those out quick. But Troops follow and lots of them. So I withdraw and get ready for what I am thinking small desperate counter attack to break out. (little side note, by taking the town so fast I pretty much cut off all the American units) But it soon turns out the troops attacking the town is a huge force. My stugs keep firing and firing and my troops keep moving the Charging Americans. Seemed like the Ostfront here. I call down my arty 150mm and all the 81mm, to no avail. The Americans suffer heavy casualties but keep chaging. I throw in my reserve but they last for only a little while. I ask for a ceae fire a few turns later. Final result, AXIS MAJOR VISCTORY!!! I held the town! I have some screeinies I might post of the AAR and of the Americans charging. The Americans charging is breth taking, there is hundred of them!!! Good work....author!!! Whoare you??!! Anyway I got a AAR screenshot of you want to see it.
9. I always give the AI a +3 bonus any time I play. I find very easy at regular so I max it out for a bigger challange.
10.
quote:
Originally posted by panzerwerfer42: Is that really possible?

ROFL!
11. Tero, I partially do agree with you on the fact that terrain reconnaisance is important. It can make a difference between a good defense and a bad retreat. I am reading a book right now "Deadly Combat: a German soldeirs memoir's of the eastern front" In this book the soldiers becomes an officer and he explains how when they changed possitions, he and a group of men scouted fro the enemy but also checked the terrain and looked for any good LOS possitions as where to place MGs. They cleared underbrush and cut down trees to make better view. So yes terrain reconnaisance was a part of the German army and I am sure it was part of every army. Terrain is very important, so it would make sense to know ahead of time, before an attack what kind of ground you will be attacing over. But, being in a country 4 years don't mean ****. I could live in a country 4 years and not know anything about except the city i live in. Sure the Germans attacked through it, but terrain does change. So being in a country 4 years, does not mean someone will know every little tree and clump of dirt there is. And Germanboy and tero, lighten up. You are taking this and everything alse way to seriously.
12. I would guess if you are on the same side you'll have a little bit of info on where your neighboring company is. Sure there sometimes might be lost radio contact or something, but I would guess ost of the time you would be able to tell where your neighboring friendly company/battalion is.
13. Aslo try the Tournament house http://www.tournamenthouse.com/CM/ And CMHQ's chat! http://www.combatmission.com and click on Chat! Hope that helps!
14. My 2 year old brother loves watching me play. He sits on my lap and waves to the TC's in the tanks. He also says "bye, bye" to them while waving. Ofcousre it's not to healthy for a 2 year old but a few min of this aint going to hurt him. It's funny to see his expression when the TC he is waving to get blown apart. He says "man, be be (as in hurt)". Plus he also says "bum bum" anytime he sees a tank. If we play out side or something the only way to get him inside the house with out screaming and dragging him in, is to tell him I'll show him "bum, bum" (as in tanks, CM). He suddenly rushes to the door and to my room waiting for me to show him so cool tanks and explosions.
15. Nvidia's GeForce 3 baby, yea!!!! Right now I have a GeForce 256 32mb card. Works like a charm for CM and Max Payne. GeForce 3 is still way to expensive, give it 6 months and it will be down to at least 250. The only time I will upgrady my video card is when the game start lagging. And Running Max Payne at max Detail hasn't caused my any problems. So I don't need to upgrade yet. Remember this is the GeForce 256, the first Geforce in it's series. Good cards!
16. Way to weird, two "commisars" talking to each other.
17. I am with triumvir on this. Altough CM is a wonderfull game. Some of the have been out for severla years and were revolutionary, Half life comes in mind. I also would of ranked Half life as #1. You can't judge games you never played, I played at least half of those games if not more and all are very good. Half life, still play it, Civ2 still play that now and then, Dues ex absolutly the best FPS/RPg game ever. Starcraft, the Koreans have starcraft characters on their cereal boxes, chip bags, TV shows, billboards and so on. The sims, million of people play that game, good for all ages and ver enjoyable. DoomI and II made FPS games. I can keep goin but won't you people should get the picture. Most of you never played anything alse other than wargames, some of us have. Remember this is ONLY 50 games there hundered-thousands of games out there. CM is very lucky to be up there, VERY lucky!! Congrats though!!!

19. Hey, Glad to see your back. Now if you don't mind me aksing, what surgery did you have? As I am going to have surgery next month also. Not a serious one, but I had this surgery 3 times in a row. Once every year for the past 3. It's getting quite frustrating. Anyway welcome back!
20. Try some of my scenarios on my site. Some of those are huge. Try "One of those days". It's a fairly big scenario, I am sure you'll enjoye that one!
21. Russellmz, I have finnished the scenario and let me say it was awesome! Nice and small, medium size! SPOILER * * * * * * * * * Well I started with a VG company 4 Pz-IV, Stuh42, 2 Puma's, 2 251/1 HT's and 2 Nashorn's! I split my main force, not in hlaf though. I sent a platoon a STUH and a Puma to the east set up zone. The rest(2/3) of my force remained at their original starting possition. My main attack would come from the South West toward the village, while the second attack force from the South east would act as a distraction. I possitioned the Nashorns on overwatch, ofcourse ont he 1st turn, on of the Nashorns bought one from a chafee. My 4 PZ-IV moved in for the kill and took it out. My 2 platoon attack force on attacked the village. One platoon attack straight from a westren direction the other from a south west direction. The green sqauds pannicked right away. But my PZ-IV's (all 4 of them) saved the by moving into the village and blowing half the town to rubble. I took the town suffering medium casualties, I was down to hlaf strenght. All of a sudden a Jumbo shows up, and takes out a Puma. Not good. I see some inf. along side the jombo, counter-attack force. More AFV's show up, a chaffe and another Jumbo. So I lay a trap. I send one Puma on a small ridge and tell it back off. So the Jumbos try to get a better shot and expose themselfs. Ofcourse all of my PZ-IV's open up, but all the rounds bounce of the Jumbo's but one took out the chaffe. In the procces one PZ-IV gets nailed too. Seeing as the 75mm guns have no affect against the Jumbo's front I send in the Nashorn. At the same time, I send all 3 shreck teams to flank and try to get a shot. At 143m a shreck hits and penatrates to no affect. Finnaly the Nashorn scores a hot and kill one Jumbo. Not before the Jumbo gets off a shot and dmages the Nashorns gun. But a second later it is killed by a 50cal. So one last Jumbo agaisnt 3 PZ-IVs, no problem. BUT a freakin sniper kills all my TC's. So all my AFVs I have left (3 PZ-IV's Puma, Stuh42) have no TC's. So I try to lure the Jumbo in and kill it. So it moves in and the Stuh fires a shot and misses and backs off. In the proccs gets bogged and imobolized later, GREAT! Finnally a PZ-IV manages to kill the sucker. Fearing another attack, I move 2 half sqauds up, about 150-200m forward, to act as combat outposts. Of course my idiotic bomber fly's by, drops bombs and kills an entire platoon. I was pissed. After that I had about one half stength platoon and another platoon down to 15 men. Not good. So I just go on the defensive in the town and await further attacks. A minor attack does come but is reppeled by my troops easily. The rest of the time I just wait. Final outcome, Axis Minor victory. At the start all was well, I took the village in 10min (10 turns). But the Jumbos got the better of me. And the Bomber (which was on my side) killed an entire platoon. Good scenario looking forward to the rest of them. Very good map, good force mix up. Good job!
