I don't know, but it sounds like another reason to dump those weird Macs and get PCs with non-integrated video and audio cards. ------------------ All that sleeps, awakens... All that awakens, hungers... All that hungers, feeds...

Did you say your name was Troll? Granted the Attack-AI is not as good as the Defend-AI, but it doesnt do that bad of a job. Hint, replay the same battle over and over again. The AI will do something different each time. ------------------ All that sleeps, awakens... All that awakens, hungers... All that hungers, feeds... -
GRAPHICS packs........are they worth it.???
Maximus replied to JOCHEN PEIPER's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Any of the say winterized vehicle mods are no larger (file size) than the original files. The winterized vehicles and infantry uniforms are a must in my book. The weathered Allied tanks are a must too. Makes them look a lot better than the original ones. The only slowdowns will occur if the mod files are larger than the original ones. But are mainly due to large grass textures. ------------------ All that sleeps, awakens... All that awakens, hungers... All that hungers, feeds... -
Damn it! Locked up first time ever
Maximus replied to aka_tom_w's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
I've been getting lock-ups upon exiting the game. In other words when I hit "Exit" the game freezes either then or as the main screen disappears. But I attribute that to a memory leak or something similar. ------------------ All that sleeps, awakens... All that awakens, hungers... All that hungers, feeds... -
Why won't HT fire 75mm on it's own??
Maximus replied to Phoenix's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Well it's just like tanks. Sometimes they won't use their main gun until you order them to. You are using v1.05 aren't you? ------------------ All that sleeps, awakens... All that awakens, hungers... All that hungers, feeds... -
Very interesting, but.....NOT!!! Babra, are you talking about the new computer game of the same name? ------------------ Be sure and check out my texture mods on CMHQ. Dave "Ol' Blood & Maximus Butticus" Molinarolo

Well, just one note about the Brummbar. The reason for not putting it in was its shortest range was to long to include for CM's scale. More German halftrack varients would be cool. IIRC, Talonsoft's West Front had a few more varients in it. ------------------ Be sure and check out my texture mods on CMHQ. Dave "Ol' Blood & Maximus Butticus" Molinarolo

Oh com'on Tom, as a veteran member, and with all the talk surrounding this scenario, you really didn't know that the Villers-Boccage scenario was supposed to be played as Whittman? I find that hard to believe.

The length of battles, were they really this short?
Maximus replied to spcwrnglr's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Well, I've considered the thought once or twice before myself. But as you said, a lot of stuff happens in the fore-mentioned time frame. Then you gotta look at the size of the battlefields themselves. In most cases we're talking about fields that are within 1 km x 1km. So taking that into account, just how long would it take to traverse and fight across a battlefield of that size? Especially when you have to advance a good percentage of the way across the map before you make contact of the enemy? ------------------ Be sure and check out my texture mods on CMHQ. One thing in update still isn't workin..anyone else?
Maximus replied to Fox's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Yes, the tanks *still* do shoot at demolished buildings even after everybody dies in them or they all run out. Might have to try the reinstall technique. Just tried this in the Villers-Bocage: Tiger! scenario. Blew up one of those big light buildings and the tanks still fires a couple more shots at it until the turn ended. ------------------ Be sure and check out my texture mods on CMHQ. Survivor influenced UPDATE on CMHQ Wednesday Night!!!...
Maximus replied to a topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Where does the ideas for these shows come from? Socialist Great Britian If you ever watch game shows from around the world, especially from Europe, you'll see how dimented and raunchy some of them are. Game shows in the US are quite tame compared to others. So when some CBS executive got the idea to do a US version of a British show of the same theme, the US public got into the show for its suspense. And another reason.............................................................................................................................................................................. ............................................. Entertainment!!! Especially through the usually boring summer TV season. You have to understand capitalism and the US public sentiment/interests, I guess, to understand why certain types of media sell and which don't. For example, the genre called Canadian or British humor is not funny at all to the American public. Why?? It's because we can't relate to the topics that British people think are funny. Hence the theme of Americana. Trials and tribulations of life to the British psyche are different than those of the American psyche. ------------------ Be sure and check out my texture mods on CMHQ. Survivor influenced UPDATE on CMHQ Wednesday Night!!!...
Maximus replied to a topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
I still don't know why Rich got such a bad rap??? Being a former military man, and he knew how to play the game, he changed plans just like a commander on the battlefield would have to to adjust to changing situations. And for that he got chistized for being evil and deceitful. Huh? He played the game and won. Just like we all play the game and either win or get our asses kicked by the AI. ------------------ Be sure and check out my texture mods on CMHQ. Dave "Ol' Blood & Maximus Butticus" Molinarolo -
Survivor influenced UPDATE on CMHQ Wednesday Night!!!...
Maximus replied to a topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
I never saw a problem with Rich. I don't know where the public, or even the cast-a-ways for that matter, got the idea that he was evil. He's the only sorry SOB that went out and pulled in a tribe-full of Stingrays everyday or so. So I was pulling for him all along. Besides he reminded me of a friend of mine here locally to the tee, down to his voice, his attitude, (yes my friend is a former Marine), his looks (receding hair-line and beard). Except my friend isn't gay. What was Sue's problem? Damn! What bad rat did she eat before the final tribal council? ------------------ Be sure and check out my texture mods on CMHQ. I feel like a FNG all over again
Maximus replied to Doug Beman's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Yeah, there hasn't been any discussions that haven't been discussed a gazillion times before with us prior to the release. It's funny, I come here and I don't recognize hadly anybody, let alone most topic starters. Business really picked up after the Gold Demo v1.2 release. I've only come to this board when I'm utterly bored. I spent most of my time making winter textures for the German stuff and all the infantry uniforms. The patches mainly did a lot of AI tweaks. But the biggest change was the increased lethality of incoming fire when troops are out in the open. You can't charge across the open anymore without getting mowed down. Maximus replied to Wesreidau's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Well this sort of thing happened on the Steel Panthers: World at War Forum about when it was released and CM's Gold Demo came out back in May. What's funny is that one of the primary designers of SP:WaW, Wild Bill Wilder, is a major scenario contributor to CM. But what this all sounds like to me is that some people are frightened to try something new and innovative and worse yet, they're afraid that they'll like it and realize that they've wasted all their money on un-finished, lame-ass games. ------------------ Be sure and check out my texture mods on CMHQ. Here's a vote for 1939 to 1943 - West Front
Maximus replied to Jsherfy's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Well to avoid a beginner naitivity, I'll just cut to the chase. CM2 will be the Eastern Front 1941-1945. Tentative title being "Barbarossa & Beyond". It may also include the Winter War (Finnish-Russian War). CM3 will be the Mediterranean Theater including North Africa, Italy, Balkans. Someone had a preety good title for it, but I can't recall it. CM4 will be the Early War 1939-1940, tentative title is "Blitzkrieg". Includes Poland and Low Countries, France, and hopefully a Operation Sea Lion hypothetical situation. Each game will proceed after 12-18 months from the previous version. ------------------ Be sure and check out my texture mods on CMHQ. Dave "Ol' Blood & Maximus Butticus" Molinarolo
