  1. Well, go yell at the Luftwaffe! I know what you mean. I'm playing in a little campaign now and my opponent got two (only two, I hope) ground-attack aircrafts. They came in early, loaded with bombs and utterly destroyed 5 trucks and 1 Kübelwagen I had parked in the rear, out of the way. Thank God (insert your deity here) they didn't attack my newly arrived panzers, all lined up along a road!! My opponent had a few choicy words about the target selection skills of his pilots! 2. Hi Dave! Welcome to the forum! First of all, the CM series are tactical battles, not grand strategy. Nor are the battle related (except for opperations, and they are simply somewhat larger battles IMHO). So no, you won't get any impressions about the progress of the war because there isn't any! I think that's the part you're missing. The symbols are just to show that "this is the last accurate reported spotting of enemy unit X". The map can range in size from 100x100 meters and up to 9 square km (if I remember correctly). If grand strategy is your forte, I'm not sure you'll be 100% happy with CMBB, but if you want to really get into the heat of a tactical battle, you can't get anything better!
  3. Blah blah blah! This is all wery good and true, but life's most fundemental question still haven't been answered: WTF is cmmos ??? Not to mention, WTF does WTF mean??????? Wild Togo Females? Hawk
  4. Thanks, I'll certainly take your input into consideration for the next program! Do you want to take part in CMMC2? If so I suggest you go to www.cmmc2.org and post a note on the forum there!
  5. Not quite sure what you mean. I entered "recoilless rifle" in Alta Vista and got more than 2900 hits. Here's a snip from one of them: "[recoilless rifle are] light enough to be carried by hand; these rifles are fast and accurate, with no recoil, ideal for infantry fighting. Recoil is avoided by letting part of the gases escape through the breech as the projectile goes forward." Was it something like that you wanted to know?
  6. Lol, you and me both, bro! Wesley Clark here too. And no, you're not the only one! Hmm, I'd rather be Buford though!
  7. Sorry if I was unclear! Cocat II is not suited for your purpose (i.e. use in another campaign)! There's too much data about the current map hardcoded into it. I'll now be starting work on a completely new program that will be designed specifically to be generic (i.e. load your own maps etc). However, that program will not be available for quite some time. If you don't want to wait for the new program, I can tweak the previous version of Cocat (Cocat 2.13 which you can find here) for you. I would need a map file from you, and some info about it. Hope that was clear!
  8. Glad you liked it! Unfortunately it's been designed specific for CMMC2 and it would be way to much work to convert it to another campaign. If you want to I can tweak the previous version (Cocat 2.13) for you. I've allready done that for 3 other campaigns. Or you can wait for the next program which will be designed to be generic.
  9. It was agreed upon that zoom was not neccessary. I'll start working on a more general tool now where you can load your own map (among other things).
  10. It's a graphical tool (PC only) to help run the CMMC2 (Combat Mission Meta Campaign 2). You can create units, place them on a map and move them around. You can also draw on the map (lines, polygons, shapes etc). All data can be saved and exhanged between users (players/GMs) using email.
  11. I don't know if this is of interest to anyone here, but in the off chance that it is I just though I should mention that the first official version of Cocat II (beta 6) is now available. It's a fairly big download (ca. 10 Mb), but it includes all the neccessary system files and the user guide. You can download it here: http://home.online.no/~paaar/cii_german.zip http://home.online.no/~paaar/cii_soviet.zip (only the names on the map differs in the two versions) If you don't have any clue what I'm talking about, you probably don't have any reason to download! Also, if this should have been posted somewhere else, I humbly appologize and ask the moderators to move it to a more suitable location. Regards, Hawk
  12. I'll be ordering a copy when they're ready. Your CS is simply the best! A Merry Christmas and my best whishes for the new year to all of you on BFC and everybody else on this board! Pål
  13. Yes. Well, almost... Odalen in Norway  Some of you Americans may even have ancestors from it.
  14. Or the French for "pretty food" or "good girls"...
  15. Oh no! What have I done?! Better not post the picture with the green plastic clay monster that ate AVFs!
  16. Huh?! Ok, I know you have the Rockies over there, but we do have the occasional hump here in Europe as well. Thanks for the update, though! I can't say I miss the waterfall effect much, so no worries from me.
  17. And by "most people" we are talking about Americans again, right? And no, I'm not out to start a flame war! It's just that even before CMBO came out, quite a few people questioned the wisdom of creating an Eastern Front game, using the same argument you use above. As good as all came from Americans, if I remember correctly. Africa and the rest of the Mediterranean area has a lot to offer in terms of varying terrain and hardware. Hell, it even has the odd GI Joe... (Operation Torch, anyone?) Give it a chance. I think it's a safe bet that BTS will deliver pure magic again!
  18. If I remember correctly, that crock was a mobile victory location, moved by the umpire based on certain rules unknow to us players (a.k.a. "whim").
  19. That's from a big AK47 clash we had. We also play a lot of 15mm WWII battles (using the Command Descision system) and have tried 6mm as well. We're a bunch of guys from late 20's to 40-something who gets together regularly and play a lot of war/strategy games, both board, miniature and computer. The fun of playing at my age is that one can afford more and better toys...
  20. Dang! I am almost completely unable to harvest red and black flaggs. What's the purpose of those? Red flags (and grey ones) usually give increased "victory %", but what do the other types do? More ammo? Upgrades? And where are the Fremen Light Infantry and Sardukar Heavy Inf???
