  1. "For Ladder play there will have to be some kind of time constraint options, otherwise people will just take forever and a day when losing" or getting whining about why they their ass kicked. ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  2. netscape "smart download". If you get bumped off line smart download will pick up where you left off ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  3. Well, I could understand one turn a day for a ladder game, but playing for fun..? "I mean I take my game seriously, but C'mon, if you played on a friday night, saturday night and sunday, you should be able to complete a full game. I can't understand how it would take all day to plot one friggin' move, when your playing for fun. That is the point of the game...right, fun?" One other way that hasn't been mentioned here is using AOL instant messenger or ICQ to transfer files instead of using regular email (AIM is much faster the ICQ by the way). With these I have been about to play many turns in one sitting and can play a game out over a weekend. When TCP/IP is out I fully expect to play an entire game in a few hours. As others folks have said it is not the time it takes to play a turn it's the sitting and waiting while you email it out then wait to get it back ect....and hope that you get a hammerhead opponant like Berli to make your life easier. ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  4. Don't get me started on the PBEM system again...but to answer your question...if each player sends 1 to 2 emails per day expect a 30 turn game to take 3 weeks to a month ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  5. Two words......Barry Manilow......hee hee just kidding.....boy I crack myself up sometimes. I am a hot steaming pile of wit. ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  6. I think Compassion is right Lizardboy. I use MANY different computers with no problem. Just when you click on "reply to post" or "post new topic" I have to type in my user name a password..I don't have to reregister. ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  7. Although I like to play the Presley angle it is really for Elvis Costello (my last name is Costello). Major Tom, I almost used a Bowie reference as he has equal status in my mind. Bauhaus, they did a killer version of Ziggy Stardust and the opening scene of "The Hunger" was incredible use of "Bella Lagosis Dead". ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  8. Yo Capt....did I miss something here? Where you going dude? If you're serious than I will miss ya being around Little Trooper. (Elvis misting up) ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  9. "CM2:To Moscow and back (almost)" or "CM2:How I got bitch slapped by the Reds on my winter vacation" ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  10. I would like a nice lawssuite at the 4 seasons please
  11. Jeese....ya walk away from the computer to grab a bite to eat and all hells breaks loose. I still have an hour of download time left. Oh well I guess I'll grab a bite to eat. DUH!!!!I already did..now what? ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  12. Mike-I agree with you 100%. Steve shouldn't waste a second on this if it delays the game for even a second. And Mark....it will go Gold when it is done (I have always wanted to say that) ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  13. Don't mock me folks. But last night I was having ISP problems (as you may have noticed Peter). So I dug out Starfleet Command at about 11pm ....turned it off at 4am. I was very wrapped up in a campain. ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  14. Yeah I too have been spending the day going through past questions. PeterNZ has sent an outline of things to cover and once we have gotten through all of Capt Maneris questions I figure we can move on to others. What I think should happen is they should be be funneled through Steve, Charles, Matt and Fionn for cleansing. But I want the list of FAQs to be so clean that Steve ,Charles, Matt and Fionn have to do very little changeing and spend alomost no time correcting. ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  15. I'd be willing to pitch in too (I'll email PeterNZ). But what I think would work best for BTS would be if this was an official FAQ on the Battlefront web site (no offense Matt and Fionn) because it should be thought of as coming right from the horses mouth (sorry Steve) and be available at they same place someone went to to order the game. What I would like is if Peter,Guachi and myself or whoever put the list together and had Steve or anyone else that had real knowledge look over what questions were used and how they were answered. This way no one whos time is already taxed would be bogged down (sorry SS) with the bulk of the work. ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  16. Boy, I hadn't seen the Captains name in awhile. Gotta hand it to you kid you are consistant (I just reset my computer system because of you so that today now IS the 31th). ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  17. You got the reference Kurtz ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  18. Or Philaelphia area? (Hell I am thinking of checking airfare to Chicago) ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  19. Just keep it away from Jeff till he comes down. OK? ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  20. Just keep it away from Jeff till he comes down. OK?
  21. Jeff...We're here for you man. We'll get you through this. First have a beer or two and some tequila to bring you down some. If you have any Jimi Hendrix in the house put it on NOW. Most importantly remain calm...you'll be fine. You are a loving and caring person and people love and care for you. You are not alone. Remember that you are valuble contributing member of society. And whatever you do, do NOT....I repeat DOT NOT...listen to Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbitt". ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC [This message has been edited by Elvis (edited 03-20-2000).]
  22. Schalken, I have had tons of problems accepting the format that BTS WILL be using. I understand it but have never been happy about it. PBEM would be more fun if with every email you got to plot and watch a movie. BTS has answered your question but I will try to expand upon it. The problem from what I understand with your PBEM system is that because the turns would have the movie part executed on the same computer then the owner of that computer MIGHT have the ability to alter the turn or otherwise mess with the files in a way that I could never come close to doing and thereby change the game to work in his (or her) favor. If one computer was the only computer doing the execution of turns then he (or she) would be the only one to tinker with the game. As I plan to play 99% of my games vs humans via TCP/IP when it is released the bottom line for me is moot. I hope I answered you question. ------------------ "Tryin to be so so bad is bad enough, don't make me laugh by talkin tough" EC
  23. It's just this type of cheap taunting that I take exception to. Stop it. It is silly.
  24. Fionn,Matt,Steve and Charles...I understand what the Rousemeister is saying very well. When I was reading the very first Alpha AAR I hung on every word and looked at the screenshots and they they looked a little dorky but the GAME sounds incredible. Then we got the Beta demo and all that stuff that looked dorky before became full of life. It didn't look dorky at all anymore. Then we see screen shots on CMHQ and they look great. They also look like just parts of the game that we haven't seen before but not THAT different. Just different stuff..if you know what I mean. Then I see the POD the other day with the church....It was like...WOW!!! this looks way way way different.Much of the sublty of differences in the PODs can be lost on someone who hasn't seen the game in action. So where you guys have seen the changes and differnt looks and maybe even come to take them for granted in some ways, we don't even fully realize the extent the updates in look or game play....and I am sure despite your efforts (I don't know how you guys find the time to do what you do) we will not understand completely until the game is in our grubby hands. I hope I didn't babble so much that my point was lost. Love, Elvisstillhavesomepissandvinegerinme
