TCP/IP is THE most important addition to the game for me. Peng spent last night at my home a we got to play our 1st hotseat game. It took about 4 hours and I figure that will be cut almost in half with the TCP/IP game and I won't have to have the bastard Peng in my house drinking all my beer....at least he brought bourbon with him so it wasn't a total waste. Schrullenhaft, Thank you again for your response. I understand that a hardware based modem should take care of this problem but there are tons of people playing this game with software based modems that aren't having this problem. Talk about frauds!!!!! SS_Berlichtingen has surrendered to me. At 1st when I saw the surrender so early in the game (what was it turn 7 or 8 out of 25) I had thought that maybe I was beating him worse than I thought I was. Then I clicked on the battlefield and he still had half the German army left. I guess he realised he had met his match and there was no sense carrying on. Nice showing Danno. Finally I feel I have gotten a foothold on that insufferable bastard Berli. I by no means feel I have the upper hand but the playing field is once again level. Moriarty has sent me the strangest looking scenerio I have seen to date. Have only done the set up (which was one of those where your units don't get to be placed anywhere but where they are when you open the game)so will keep you knuckleheads posted. sniper, I for one am very happy about the outcome of your game as I represent the Americans...I heard heard about a couple german slaughters and I think I may play the German set up later today to see how lopsided it is. From the AARs that are rolling in it seems much of the battle hinged on what was purchased even more perhaps than tactics. Hey Berli you hammerhead..oh no I started to go on a tirade about you goofing off and not sending me the game and before I clicked "post" I decided to check myself and realised I am the one who hadn't sent the file. I played it on Sunday but never sent it. I did the same thing to Simon...I must have been loaded or something. I can't remember if I was loaded because I was too loaded to remember. I can't believe I am posting to two TCP/IP threads in under an hour. And I also can't believe I am agreeing with SS_Pantyhose...But two things were mentioned in this thread that are important. 1)I play PBEM via file transfer pretty often which is much quicker than email but SS you are right. All that downtime waiting for the file would be better spent playing the game. 2)"I find I can't take the game seriously enough against the AI." NP said. I beat the AI so bad every game that it doesn't feel like a challange....it's still fun but I never worry about losing because I don't. Should I change the settings in premade scenerios? There is NO feature that is more important to me than TCP/IP. To me PBEM loses the immersion of the game. It is difficult to get back "into" a game after not seeing it for a day or two. I hope I didn't sound like I was complaining about newcomers...I also have followed this since I linked to it from Avalon Hill and it was called Computer Squad Leader...A) I would rather have a million newcomers and have the game in my hands than the old group and no game. I do not recall what my score is against Berli although I think a demo game I played against him was the best battle I have been involved in to date. At this early point (I haven't even seen the 1st turn movie yet) in our 1st PBEM game with the final version I feel as though I have already beaten his ass with a hickory branch. I have only done this in operations vs the AI so far and I haven't done anything but have total victories in 3 out of 3 operations. I have found myself becoming so pissed at units that wipe out my squads that if I capture them I kill them. I am a bad person. Am I now assured my own special place in hell. And most importantly does it effect my score in the game. ------------------ "To conquer death you only have to die" JC

Chris, I tried what you said. When I got to "advanced" there was no choice for v34 but there was a place for "extra settings" so I typed "+ms=v34" in the space and tried again. No luck. It might also help if I explained exactly when it happens. If I am online and open CM I then select anything (play multiplayer or play game" then go to load a game. I see the flags and the 3d loading message and then the game opens to a battlefield. When it opens to a battlefield is when it bumps me off. I agree that it is most likely modem related because it has happened with FOUR different ISPs. Any other suggestions folks? ------------------ "To conquer death you only have to die" JC
