  1. MAXM2 - may the rats giggle while they nibble your nipple
  2. Medlink - you can count me in. The Swiss system sounds a better bet. Also keep in mind that due to time differences (I'm in Africa) it's not always possible to send even 2 mails per day and with the PBEM setup as it is you have to send quite a bit more mails than the actual number of rounds (1 and a half times more? - not sure) So to finnish 25 rounds in 2 weeks will be nearly impossible. Don't get disheartened though - the answer is out there and I'm in whatever it is
  3. Is it designed for vs AI or Human? If its for AI, you can send it - I'm on holiday and my Mother in law's visiting, so anything to keep me happy in front of the PC
  4. I'm on holiday so I'll be able to reply once or twice a day, depending on time zone. Propose: One guy suggests the parameters and once both parties agree on those, the other chooses the side.
  5. Hi Agamemnon, Obviously I'm generalising. There are countries in Africa that is doing very well. Botswana & Mauritius comes to mind - both with +7% growth in GDP kept up for many years. Botswana is a great example where the theft of a handbag is virtually front page news, but... those are the exceptions. The fact is that Africa as a continent is at the bottom of the ladder - does'nt matter what criteria you use and there is a reason for it. I stuck my neck out by stating what I see as the reason for this and I would dearly like someone to come up with another explanation for our backwardness, but... I also believe it's esential for Africans to look to themselves for the reason and to stop pointing the finger elsewhere - while we put the blame on others we will never confront our own shortcommings and start addressing them.
  6. The problems of Africa comes down to various factors and I think the 3 most important ones listed in importance is 1)Stupidity 2) Laziness 3) Lack of morals. Harsh words maybe, but the truth I'm afraid and the sooner we Africans accept this the sooner we'll stop blaming everybody else and get our own act together...
  7. 1) rocket barrage - opponents Humber knocked out - words appear "abandoned" or whatever. Next plotting round Humber fine and shell crater (as well as at least one other crater) disappears. Good (and honourable) friend/enemy Mark acknowledges that this did happen and offers to withdraw humber. BTS if you guys don't know about this yet - we can supply the files if you need them. 2) this one is a maybe. My Nashorn (the AI) spots enemy squad and red spotting line appears cutting through the corner of an intervening house (quite substantially so - I would estimate about a meter in) It then fires about 4 or 5 times but all the shells explode in the intervening house, tying up the Nashorn and wasting half it's HE shells. NOTE - I viewed this on a "realistic" setting. File available. Otherwise - just one mayor complaint: I have'nt been able to get to bed before 2am since the CD arrived...
  8. Sergei - I don't speak German. I'm Afrikaans speaking which has germanic roots. But I'm trying to teach my kids (5 & 7 years old) english and I tell you - german must be easier. English is a hideously illogical language - Yea I know it's because of it's age, but it might not have been so bad to have any other language ruling the world. And knowing the germans, their language are bound to be a lot more logical and structured. Both Afrikaans and German also have a lot of beautifull "Aaargh" sounds Ag Jammer (Oh Sorry!) This should've gone under "CM gets another reward" [This message has been edited by Johan Brittz (edited 07-04-2000).]
  9. Tore the package open with my teeth and then had a heart attack - NO CD!!! Lost 3 fingernails ripping the plastick off the manual ---- AAAAAAHHHHH CD!!!!! Anybody else on the darkest continent suffer from this addiction?
  10. No CM in Africa yet - or is it because I'm the only one in Africa who bought? - Sob!!
  11. Hi Gary, Your mail is comming back undelivered - in case you want to know what happened to your panther
  12. Thanx guys - Exactly what I needed! This board is a real pleasure (must be that great games pull great people) Lick Lick...
  13. Been battling since day one with my limited knowledge - 1) Game freezes - getting by playing the AI using the autosave files, but when I save & later reload it freezes as soon as I go to view level 1 or 2. PBEM files received freeze the same way. 2) I've only got 2 colours (light & dark blue)for C&C; targeting & movement lines; and 3) the house transparency does'nt work. 2 & 3 not too serious, but 1) is a real problem - I would love to get back to PBEM. Tried everything that I could find on the board, that did'nt sound too complicated. Checked that I had the latest drivers for graphics card & mouse; loaded directx7a and then loaded drivers again in case. got a 366mhz with 64Ram; win98; onboard S3 Trio 3D graphics card with 8mb ram (yep - know it's the minimum requiered); MSMouse. Suspect that I'll have to invest in a card, but **** scared that I'm going to buy something that would'nt work either - seems that a hell of a lot of cards are giving problems? So I'm looking for a safe bet - as cheap as possible and widely available. Any suggestions guys/BTS?
  14. Have a look at this link: http://www.bbll.com/army/ch03.html (Chapter 3 Taking The Hill) it describes an average (but textbook) assault on prepared German defences by US platoons. One of the best descriptions I've seen yet. Basics: Scout/arty prep/joined by MG suppression/AT's against bunkers/SMOKE/scouts clear wire/assault - works for me as well. Site also contains some great down to earth descriptions of life as experienced by a "platoon leader" during Pattons advance accross France.
