  1. Yes as it's taking advantage of knowledge that a human player would not necessarily have. But what ya gonna do? It can't be as clever as people so you've got to give it something. Now if you need to advance your M1s down a street then 20 T90's appear directly behind that's bad design - but such a scenario wouldn't get played.
  2. I think you'd be better getting a 3.2G dual core rather than a 2.33G quad. Most games don't use dual, let alone quad. If you're editing movies you might get some use out of a quad. The PSU seems a little on the low side - mine is 850W. What motherboard is it? Apart from that it looks good. Except for Vista of course.
  3. I think the main thing is I fight as the Army with the vehicles and the Marines as infantry led. It makes a difference.
  4. Sounds good. Sounds like you're enjoying the game as well which is good to hear. Why not give the following squad a pause order? That's what I always do.
  5. Icons broken down by arm; AFV, infantry & support by type of contact; sound, pre-battle & previously sighted plus confidence (basically time * amount of initial spot) is what I've been voting for. Not that it's a democracy
  6. I've never been in the military either. Your guys will take cover as well as they can given the incoming fire and available cover. In woods they get behind trees, they line up along berms etc. As to firepower I agree - it would be nice. But then how do you calculate it? For a blue squad they have a Javalin, M16s, under-slung grenade launchers etc. All or none of which they could use. So the complexity of what is being simulated prevents simple solutions. I'd like to see it myself - hopefully for Normandy.
  7. You get so much HE in that scenario you end up king of the rubble.
  8. Jorges - welcome. Good to have you on the forum. As MikeyD explained, the main difference between LOS lines is when the line is grey it is sub-optimal. Generally that means less than the full squad have LOS to the enemy. Canada Guy - I think the main thing preventing your idea is that - to take being in woods for example - one guy could be behind a tree and have 100% cover & 100% concealment, one could be in long grass and have 5% cover & 80% concealment etc. Plus it's directional dependent so the guy behind the tree would get 0% & 0% from another angle. It's pretty much WYSIWYG. There is some abstraction but very little. So you're best just looking at the guy and judging for yourself.
  9. It depends who they're posted by. If they're by the Americans, they tend to wear a lot of new camelbacks, if they're by the Germans those nice boots. You know the type of thing.
  10. "Burnt by latex! That was one HOT male model!". "Claw handed man seen playing with toys - is nothing sacred!". "Rubber, toys, cleaning fluid - you couldn't make it up!" Sorry fella couldn't resist. Sounds nasty. I've had a plastic burn before and it hurts like hell. Look after them - and hey, with no finger prints maybe it's time to pursue that career in safe cracking you always wanted?
  11. Yeah the elevation thing has been known for some time. IIRC it was harder to deal with than you'd think. Maybe to do with what happens when the turret is at an angle? I can't remember. But it's certainly already known about.
  12. IIRC holed armour is used on the Leopard II. There was some talk of it being the standard in the early 80's but its performance vs HEAT isn't as good as other types. I can't remember where I heard this, and f/k is the expert and didn't mention it so make of it what you will.
  13. I got one for linking to a free giveaway page that was later changed to the normal site, which you could buy from. This was for a Linux utility
  14. But this is a Bic Crystal Ballpoint. Medium point. In black. Black never goes out of fashion.
  15. If you click my username you can send me a message. Or it's othermeans, My ISP is blueyonder which is a company in the UK. Spam - me hates it.
  16. Peter Panzer - yep, that looks plain wrong to me. You can email me through the forum software. Drusus - LOS checking is a major pull on the CPU. It speeds things up considerably by doing checks against the 8*8m grid before doing higher fidelity ones. And bear in mind; when LOS is established you don't have to do the reciprocal check.
  17. Welcome tOC. We have an ignore list now? Guys? We have an ignore list? ...Guys?
  18. I LOVE Pinetree's Iconed Bases mod. You can get a gridded terrain mod for SF too if you fancy it. Apart from that I can't help, sorry. Oh yeah - Oddballs sound mod has some admirers - see if you fancy it.
