  1. If it gets that bad we'd just re-start nuclear testing and get a load of dust in the atmosphere. Nukes. Is there anything they can't do?
  2. Hopefully this stays the right side of the NDA: you will LOVE Challengers.
  3. I honestly think the best thing for the world would be for everyone to move to a nuclear/hydrogen economy. Even if it meant building large reactors in existing open cast mines and putting a roof over them. Nuclear power can be dangerous. But everything is dangerous - it just needs to be managed.
  4. Hey Cpl Steiner - I've got a perfectly good Asus 450W PSU. Built for a quiet case so it's a good one. Come pick it up from Wavertree gardens (by The Rocket) and you're welcome to it.
  5. Oops - looks like I overstated the PSU. It's a corsair 620.
  6. I got this: http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?QuickLinx=4MM7 I'm running CM:SF right now at 39C and 42C for each core. It's in this case: http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?QuickLinx=3SPW and is almost silent - the (quiet) case fan is right by the heat sink so I don't really need extra CPU cooling. I've actually co-opted the CPU fan as axillary cooling for the video card, as I've got a GF8800GTS which runs very hot - I've seen 84C when full out with my last mobo. I fitted a new mobo (see other thread on GF page ) and it's got scalable cooling - dynamic energy saver they call it. http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?QuickLinx=54HW but I don't think the fans I've got are variable speed. However, I've had no problems since I fitted it so I'm quite hopeful. I actually bought it in October and only now got round to fitting it - how crap am I?
  7. Seriously; I'd go for the E860. When you're running on one core you'll be faster. Running on 2 you'll be faster still and when do you run on 4? Never is when. I got this heatsink and run it without the fan - don't need it: http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?QuickLinx=3XYD It's big though so you do need space. I have a Corsair PSU - very quiet: http://hothardware.com/News/Corsair-Launches-New-850-Watt-Power-Supply-/ I went for the best I could get because I tend to move them from PC to PC as I build a new one. This should last me years. Recommended. Get all that and put it in a quiet case and you'll be laughing. I had to train the Mrs to check the keyboard light to made sure it was on as she kept thinking it was off when the screen blanked it's that quiet.
  8. Peter, while I see the point of what you're saying - and I don't disagree - you could achieve what you want with a waypoint with a target command on it, a tiny reverse and advance and a "target light" on the final waypoint. I do remember the arguments when 1.10 was out to more tightly restrict the firing of weapons to the target command. Maybe given that people made those arguments, and you can still do what you want with waypoints, it should stay how it is? At least it's more predictable.
  9. No. He's a sceptic because scientific principles of transparency have not been met and base data has been amended. I'm agnostic on the issue - it just seems to me to be taken as proved when really I think it isn't. I think that due to the base data, most of which is supplied by Hansen, has been altered: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/11/19/nasa_giss_cockup_catalog/ http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/08/15/goddard_arctic_ice_mystery/ http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/06/05/goddard_nasa_thermometer/ And yes, I get all my opinions from The Register. What's wrong with that?
  10. I'm a sceptic now, says ex-NASA climate boss.
  11. Well OK...the whole story is I swapped out a mobo because I screwed the first one direct to the case and it didn't like it. Whistled a bit and started to smell until I thought "Eh? What are these spacer screws for.". Surprised it worked at all - but it did. The new one seems slightly more stable. Go figure.
  12. I worked in Israel for a while. There were 2 types of beer. You'd drink one and think, "the other type has GOT to be better.". Drink that and think, "the other type has GOT to be better.". Ad, as they say, nauseum.
  13. In 40 minutes. Nothing is on fire. No beeps. Started straight away. All lights and fans are working. I must be thinking of something REALLY bad to do to me.
  14. I think that's a decent analogy. CM1 was like the book, CM2 is like the movie. Some people will never like the movie but most people will never read the book.
  15. As an aside, what I've heard is the NCOs ranks are on their arms to symbolise the muscles moving weapons while officers are on their shoulders, to symbolise the weight of command.
  16. I agree that CM2 has set itself a very high bar to achieve. I also don't think that it's met it yet. But the main point is that this standard is what gamers expect now. CM1 wouldn't get played if it was released now - even if a Bren tripod was included. Therefore CM2 must try and attain it - and I think it's on the right path. Things are much, much better. And I think they'll get better still.
  17. Ahhh the 8800GT runs very very hot. Mine now, just running a browser (with SF open but minimised) us 79 degrees - and that's with the fan at full speed. Probably that if it's so enclosed.
  18. I wish it were but I think we'll have to wait longer than the British mod.
  19. Didn't 90% of tax used to be corporate tax now 90% is personal? Or sumfink? You need to get your own lobbyists guys.
  20. I think of them as somewhat mobile bases. Seems to work. Might bring them up later to dislodge stubborn infantry but not until I feel safe. Thinner eggshells with bigger hammers really.
  21. Is he in the bottom 5 worst presidents ever? Bottom 3? The worst? I don't know enough 'Mercan history to know but judging by the fact you're still around as a nation there can't have been many as bad.
  22. Sod the game save your eyes. I have a Formac 21 inch and it's teh roxor.
  23. Correct: extra Syrian units will NOT be included in the British module. Except maybe a truck, I think Steve said.
