Eichmann2
LT Mike, Good to see mate, but you are so lucky having internet access on operations, thanks to our socialist government we Brits are lucky to get paper mail whilst in Iraq/Afghan etc! Best wishes
dan/california
also look at LT. Mike - he mentioned found it in some dude hous this thing will cost more then 900 for most of us and its just a found for him not that im jealous or anyhting... Well you have to eat military food for a 15 month deployment before you feel to jealous. Hang in there Lt Mike and remember Patton's little bit of wisdom about about making sure it is the other guy that has the privilege of dying for his country, or sect, or tribe or whatever. By the way, are you out of Fort Lewis? I would be more than happy to buy you a beverage or three when you get back, if so. I live just outside the base.
Dogface
Yeah IIRC he is out of Ft. Lewis. And Mike, I will gladly buy the second round (even if you are an officer.)

Sixxkiller
And how about "Wedding Thursdays?" They really get into the spirit of marriage in Iraq... AK-47 style. In Afghanistan its the same except depending on the household we may let them keep a pistol along with the AK. Just depended on the vibe you got from the house. You should not comment about things which you have no knowledge of, whatsoever. do you have of these rules posted somewhere on the internet ? im sure its a GREAT read - WHAT KIND a "rule" is that ? who "ruled" it? is that Iraq's constitutional right to keep arms? if that is i dont think its valid as their constitution being "remodeled" - maybe i shouldnt speak of the "things i have no knowledge of" but i'm learning and willing to look like an idiot if i learn something, so far on the topic i've only seen HUNDREDS of videos- footage of journalists - family houses raided at night kalashnikov found and males detained - i do have little knowledge on the "one kalashnikov" rule matter but from history i remember there was NEVER ANY RULES in warfare - anyone could get killed or robbed or detained by superior enemy... and why one kalash not 2 what if theres 2 brothers live there - seems like if this one kalashnikov rule nowhere on the paper its not even LEGAL and justified - my objective point of narrow view . P.s kinda make no sense to me why just single rifle ? most of americans own a whole arsenal of rifles... also look at LT. Splinty
The rule is as Angryson stated: 1 Kalashnikov per household. I have searched houses over here and found that one AK we held on to the weapon until we were finished and then handed it back to the owner and said "have a nice day".

Battlefront.com
Thanks for the pic Mike! I saw some pics of the initial OIF haul of funky stuff, including WWII US tanks (M36 Jackson IIRC) and just about every long arm made in the last 200 years! Some of the early Iraqi Army guys were armed with what looked to be MG42s (not MG3). Angryson... going back ALREADY? Seems like you just got back. Lee
Cool weapon find. Our soldiers have a right to bring back any small arms they find as war trophies, they are the ones putting their necks on the line out there, they've earned those weapons on the battlefield. These socialist politician idiots should shut their mouths and quit interfering in the affairs of better men.
Battlefront.com
Now I'm REALLY confused... Britain is run by Socialists AND the United States is run by Socialists? So you mean all those people calling Blair and Bush Fascists for waging wars of agression, torturing people without trials, circumventing their constitutional authority, and generally behaving like gits are really doo-goody lefties in disguise have it all wrong?!? Boy, did I pick the wrong day to stop sniffing glue! The world just doesn't make any sene. MikeyD
Blair would've been a perfectly respectible British Liberal politician (the preferred type to my own lefty sensibilities) except the poor guy fell in with bad company. I rather liked him during the first half of his term. Then came the U.S. 2000 elections (cue the theme to 'West Side Story' as the 'Jets' gang dances onstage). Goodbye Tony. Let's not forget before 2003 he had already made his mark by helping bring about an end to the intractable 'Irish problem' - at least that small corner of your legacy remains untarnished.

Just ask the ghost of Mao. In any event, I'm glad to hear that Iraqis are allowed one gun. Pales in comparison to the bunch cluttering my safe, but it's a good start
Primarch
Theres a difference between democratic socialists and communists and those who use Oligarchys and Dictatorships.(unfortantly that has yet to tested outside of sweden and other "socailist" countries) and also its not 1 but one per male. In large households that might come closer to the number in your safe.
Battlefront.com
acrashb, Socialists do that stuff to. Just ask the ghost of Mao.Ah... a bit different. Communism is a flavor of Socialism. An extreme one that isn't very different from Fascism. The two ends of the political spectrum are actually next to each other. NDSP (Nazi Party) has an "S" for Socialism, after all In any event, I'm glad to hear that Iraqis are allowed one gun. Pales in comparison to the bunch cluttering my safe, but it's a good start Heh... me too. Last time I checked my state has the highest per capita gun ownership in the USA. Fortunately, when our gun owners do something illegal with their firearms it is usually against deer, not people. Good deal for the people, but I think the deer wouldn't be all that pleased if they understood the laws supposedly protecting them! MikeyD
"Last time I checked my state has the highest per capita gun ownership in the USA." That statistic helped in large part by my brother-in-law's gun collection! I may be a proud lefty Massachusetts resident but it was still great fun test-firing my Maine brother-in-laws Webley revolver out behind the barn. That sucker has quite a kick!

Two adult males in one house, they had two AKs, we took one.

Was it returned to its owner or will LT be mailing it to me?
