beardiebloke
That's great news but I'm going to be on holiday on the 27th. Any chance you could push the date back a month?
Pvt. Ryan
Can those who pre-order download the game a little earlier? Yes? Ok, I expect it to be available by July 4, then! Oh, will there be any preview parties as with CMBB and CMAK?

Cpl Steiner
Really great news! The new training tutorial campaign (if true) sounds like it will be worth waiting for as well. I have a feeling I will need to unlearn a lot of tactics from the previous three titles before I can play CM:SF effectively! Counting the days...
Cpl Steiner
P.S. - will the game available direct from Battlefront be exactly the same as the one from Paradox. If so, which purchase method would benefit BFC the most. I want every penny I spend to help BFC to make the next modules and games.

Sixxkiller
Steiner, Dont you want them to eat too? And what about porn? Do they not get porn? MikeyD
"will the game available direct from Battlefront be exactly the same as the one from Paradox(?)" No Nazi insignia to worry about in this theater so that should make European distribution MUCH simpler for 'em. Logic says buying direct and direct download from BFC would put the most money into their pocket. We should probably surf on over to ToW or Drop Team to figure out how they're doing game registration these days.

But let's remember that Paradox is a Swedish company. Remember the Danish Jyllands Posten cartoon scandal and how the boycotts affected the sales of the Dane-Swedish dairy company Arla in Middle East? I have it from a reliable source that in the Paradox version Syrians are replaced by Care Bears.

grunt_GI
Great news...ditto to the earlier questions.. 1. Should we buy direct from Battlefront to avoid the middle man? 2. How has it playtested on an Intel Imac with Bootcamp and Windows XP? 3. Please give us a bone about plans for a OS X version...not that I wouldn't feed my addiction by buying the PC if I have to wait another year for a native OS X version...more profit for BFC

Originally posted by Battlefront.com: FYI, CM:SF is running on a dual core Power Book Pro under XP without problems. Initially there was a huge problem, but it turned out to be a bug in Windows having to do with power management (for laptops) and dual core setups. The gist of it is high demands on the processors (from 3D intensive games, for example) ran into conflicts with power conservation concerns. There is a patch for this but I don't think Microsoft wants many people to know about it. Why? Because it basically disabled power management, which means millions of laptop owners would see their batteries run down very quickly even when using non-intensive applications. It's the kind of engineering fix we have come to expect from Microsoft Anyway, it works and works well! Steve From here Originally posted by grunt_GI: 3. Please give us a bone about plans for a OS X version...not that I wouldn't feed my addiction by buying the PC if I have to wait another year for a native OS X version...more profit for BFC Originally posted by Battlefront.com: This new development is great! CM:SF is slated to run on OSX regardless of the chip set, but now we are more sure that we can make something that will run equally well on PowerPC and Intel chips. We were holding off from starting on a MacOS version until we were reasonably sure that Apple wasn't going to deal us another last minute "gotcha" like they did with RAVE support under OSX. Unfortunately, due to problems with compilers on the Mac and the uncertainty of the new Intel Macs, we held off making anything for OSX thus far. Because of where we are in development we aren't going to stop and port to the Mac right now. What we will instead do is continue to make the game and then evaluate our porting options when it is nearly finished. It might mean no simultaneous release. We don't know yet. But a release for MacOS is certain to happen no matter what. Worst case a few months after the PC version. Steve From here
FaxisAxis
 what! I wasn't expecting an announcement this soon and when you said there will be an annoucement soon I thought it'd be in a couple months. July 27! no really and I though if we were lucky we'd see it released spring of next year or at the earliest late fall of this year. Man this is a surprise and an official release date to boot. Is it safe to... oh, what the heck WAH-HOO!! I didn't think we'd ever see an official explicit release date let alone and implied release date.
grunt_GI
jeffsmith, Thanks for the post, that answers my questions...mostly..I assume that buying direct from BFC will be the best for Moon and the guys...good news about playing on Bootcamp...I hope the BFC guys at least throw us a bone after July 27 about when the OS X will come out so I know if I need to play the demo for a few months or just take the plunge and buy the PC version to keep myself satisfied...
jeffsmith
I Definitely want to support BFC in Continuing Development for the Mac but at the same time I REALLY DON'T want to wait to play CMSF & buying BOTH versions is a bit cost prohibitive for me
patboy
Good news, when I'll come back from vacations July 27 I'll get this awaited game, may be with a little more chance could we try the demo around June 27 one month before the official release date ? Danny Chung
Thank Christ for that! Congratulations to BFC all the same. I haven't played CM since my early version iMac packed up in October 2004 and I got the new version which wouldn't support CMBO and CMBB. I couldn't be bothered to piss about with tweaking the computer to allow me to run CMBB. I would definitely buy if BFC release a native OS X version. Buying an Intel Mac just to play a Windows version CMSF would be just a waste of money. Still, with the release of CMSF, you know what this means. That's right lads, full steam ahead for the next planned release, the World War 2 CM!
