Speedy
No Syria because no Vichy French, unless they added them to the defense department version.

Well as stated, its not in the CMAK Australian Army Version (AAV) so obviously we don't get the Syrian campaign. Oh well, maybe in CMX2...
jrcar
Ozi_digger did you like the multimedia front end? The only real addition is the AA Bren gun, the rest is mainly changes to armour and support weapons and the addition of Greece as a playable theatre. Cheers Rob
flamingknives
AA Bren? As in on a tripod (whoops, I said it)? Or atop a tank?
jrcar
Yes on a Tripod, but not a Bren as a sustained fire machinegun on a tripod, different tripod. This AAMG Bren can shot at aircraft. Cheers Rob

Especially liked the situation maps for Crete that highlighted troop dispositions etc. I'll try and dig up a screenie of the Bren AAMG.
ozi_digger
Actually, disregard me posting a screenie. I didn't realise I'd need webspace. I can e-mail to someone who does though.

The ground mount sustained fire kit - which I presume was more common - could be changed from a ground mount to an AA mount within a minute or so. I wonder if we'll see Greece and the AA Bren as part of the patch for us paying customers not in the Australian Army? That would be a nice surprise for us. Yes you can mod the AAV version, it has all the same folders. Don't know if it is CMOS (or whatever) compatible but you could certainly do a 'cold' mod i.e. replace .bmps in folders with new ones. Tom's Greece Mod? First I've heard of it (which isn't surprising). Personally, I'm not going to start playing around with the AAV version with mods. It is just like CMAK but only up to 1943. Terrain is the same. No yanks. The 'highlight' map in the game bar shows Greece. No HUGE changes (not worth a patch in my book, I'd rather see CMX2 first).

It has been reconfigured for AA use. I don't see any twin Brens in the photos at AWM though...
jrcar
No neither did I, although the ORBAT indicated twin Brens. Maybe they were lost in Greece/Crete (all those photos are post Crete I think). Those pictures mainly talk about Light AA units, rather than the AA Pl in the Bn. I see what you mean by the ground mount. It appears most of the light AA units changed to captured Italian 20mm guns as soon as they could. Cheers Rob
JonS
NZ was using twin brens in the AA Pns of the inf bns as late as June/July 1942 (and quite possibly later).
Mace
Forget the twin brens....refer to this War Memorial photo for a 'bren gun variant' that is far more effective! jrcar
Mace that link doesn't work for me. Was it by any chance the Vickers on a Bren tripod Cheers Rob [ September 22, 2004, 03:42 PM: Message edited by: jrcar ]
v42below
I just read through this whole damn thread and I still don't have the answer to the questions asked in the beginning - will the work done for the Assie DoD be later incorporated into a patch for CMAK or not? I don't mind if the answer is "NO", I just want to know...
Pzman
No the Assie stuff will not be added, see the thread about patch preditions.
