BCR v2.0 were downloaded 397 times. I didn't reset it when I updated to v2.1 (wasn't possible with the cgi thingy I use), so it will keep counting from 397. Right now it's 404, that means 7 people have downloaded v2.1 so far. Simple, eh? ;)

Apache, you're right, something IS wrong with the counters. :/ When clicked, they all show 4 (at this time), which is the number of times BCR'42 v1.0 have been downloaded. But when I check the cgispy (the cgi host I use) admin page, it shows all three counters, with their different values. Odd. Now that I think of it, they have probably never showed correct numbers on my BCR page, I remember seeing they showed the same number for both BCR and BCRAV when I clicked the links. It seems only the last added file to monitor is being displayed on the download page. Crap.

It's only cosmetic though, the real numbers are being tracked, but they only show up on the admin page. The fault lays with the remote cgi host. I checked their forum, lots of questions from users but noone from cgispy seems to care to answer them. You get what you pay for, I guess...

Anyone know any other FREE download tracker/counter? I'll keep this one for the time being until something better pops up.

Downloads as of 24 Feb, 00:37 (my time):

BCR '41 v2.0 - 397

BCR '41 v2.1 - 10

BCR '42 v1.0 - 6

BCRAV v2.0 - 239

EDIT: I found something from downloadcounter.com (original, don't you think? smile.gif ). I'll try them now and see if that works better...

2nd EDIT: I added that counter from downloadcounter.com, it works much better, BUT... it has a pop-up ad. No porn (at least the three times I tried it, damn ;) ), but annoying as hell. If you can't live with it, say the word and I'll remove them. Just remember, I don't get a dime for this, it's the download-counter-people that has the ad, not I.

A question... I've been playing all this time and never thought to ask it - Im still in 41 ( dying to get to 42 )

and I've been fighting it out with my Waffen SS Panzer Grenadier kompanie. Now their companies are about the same pointage as regular wehrmacht companies, have the same makeup, and I buy the same armor. A question though, is this compatible with the rules or will it throw a wrench into the machinery somewhere?

Spot on Sublime. Same but different. BCRAV is just a variation, you forces are fixed (SS Arm Pz Grenadiers or Heer Infantry). Same theme but there are a lot of differences, and as Sublime points out, generally bigger force sizes (with all the gear that goes with them, I like 'gear' :D ). Try both.

No - If you were to go overboard with adding armor you will, but there's nothing preventing you from taking your Waffen co all the way to Berlin... ;)

Hi!

First of all, many thanks to Biltong and the BCR team - you're doing a wonderful job!

Now for my question: has anyone tried adapting the rules to allow a two-player campaign? My current PBEM opponent rightly noted that it would be great fun to play it as a PBEM campaign.

If one were to disregard the improbability of two battlegroups constantly clashing throughout the period, it would probably work?

Please feel free to rid me of dilusion if I'm totally out there. :)

Cheers!

I thought about volunterring to play the Allies in someone's campaign where he did all the setup and just sent me the PBEMs... I suspect that it might be too tough for the Axis as is though... Maybe, with an Allied handicap of 20% or so?

Thanks,

Al

I'm just having a look at this - it looks very promising.

SuperSulo, I found your program very useful, vith one small quibble: When you roll the same number, the display doesn't change. It sometimes makes me wonder if I didn't manage to activate the roll. A small indication of the roll would be helpful - making the number blink for a fraction of a second would be enough. No need for fancy animations ;)

And sorry if this has been mentioned before. I have not had time to go through all the pages of this thread.

I'm attempting to set up my first battle, but got a bit confused regarding the task force. Do I pick from the same TF all during the campaign, or do I define a new TF for each map (i.e. set up two QB's each time)? I'd rather not be stuck with a bunch of green Romanians for 6 months, let alone 4 years ;)

Also, while I realize that I don't have any attached units at start, it is not clear to me how I get them later. The explanation of parameter 56 isn't all that clear.

You set up 2 QB's each time.

You can also use the Peterk Variant for that rule:

1. Do not set up 2 Quick Battles. Buy whatever you want with your points in the given category as long as the rarity <= 20%.

Does that mean I have to keep track of how many points each unit cost when I buy my forces for the battle? Or do I buy them at the start of the next battle? If I have a Romanian taks force, do I then get Romanian attached units? That seems unlikely - attaching Romanians to a German company.

As you can see, there is a potential for improving the explanation of this smile.gif

I suggest you download the Player Guide... That's what it's for - explaining things for new guys ;)

Qoute from the guide:

"Task Force

You roll up points to buy a Task Force for each battle. Then you create a QB for the sole purpose of generating the Task Force Offerings automatically. Once the generated units appear on the map, record them on the Parameter Sheet and then discard the ‘battle’. The Task Force Offerings is generated automatically to provide variety and randomness to the Task Force for each battle. Later you will buy as many of these Task Force Offerings as you are allowed when you generate the Real Battle. The resultant Task Force is used to support the Battle Group for only that battle and you do not record the Task Force on the Battle Group Sheet."

Hope it helps ;)

First Off: Hats off to Biltong and gang...first rate job on the BCR!

Second: Along the same lines as HerrFlicks/BigAlMoho's comments, I'm discussing playing the Allied opponents against my regular tcp/ip opponent (a rehash of our CC2 campaign, 52 battles long) using BCR and am wondering if Biltong/Apache/Super etc. have any thoughts on handicaps that might be necessary to make it playable.

And sorry, but you KNEW someone was going to come out and try and make multiplayer your system designed to bring more "meat" to the single player experience, right? :D
