TikiBob replied to Biltong's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
What's BCRAV? Thanks,. -
In line with the previous question, can someone explain to me the in's and out's of setting up a reverse slope defense? ie what terrain is necessary for it to work and what units would be best used in it. Thanks, Ken

So whatever happened with the idea for a joint game played vs some Vet player? With threads discussing the game as it goes? Sounds like a great idea! Ken -
mine clearing disaster...
TikiBob replied to RoughRoad's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
I think we definately need to experiment more and figure this one out... How to clear a minefield is obviously crucial to gameplay. Ken -
CMBB is quite "gamey" and Ruskies are way too good
TikiBob replied to Nikke's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Oooh, I'd duck if I were you.... I think you may find that a vast amount of people in here know vastly more than you about anything regarding WWII and everything regarding CMBB... Soooo, soon you may be proved wrong. Ken -
Life's just like a box of Peng Challenges

I am back! Yes, I will admit a sound thrashing by Mr. Spkr the abreviator. It certainly was a strong showcasing of his mighty skills. 3 virtually impenatrable matilda's vs my vast forces of Italian model cars fitted with BB guns. Yes no doubt that given similar forces he could certainly crush any of the dregs in the Cesspool. Sadly, I fear that only I, the innocent newbie, would fall victim to such a devious trap. However, Mr. Spkr has graciously honored my request for yet another game. This time he has given me a virtually indestructable force of plastic firetrucks and ambulances vs. a full size H2 Hummer. I feel much more evenly matched... noobie Teenyboob - Out -

couple questions... First, how would you rate the difficulty of the Billtong campaign? Is it geared for novice players or more like average and up?? Second, someone had said they were going to do a Java version of the rules that would handle it all for you. What ever happened with that? Thanks, Ken -

good question... -
Well it appears in this land of little boys and little girls of all shapes and sizes, one rises above the rest. Not much mind you, but enough to see over the severely sloped brows of all the other ingrates in here. I hereby accept the challenge of Mr. Spkr to play Desert Redux. No doubt there is some half-witted plan afoot in his mind, but I will take my lumps on my way to the top of this retched backwater dump. TikiBob out... I just got BB and I've been following this thread somewhat for the past few days. Basically is it done yet? It seems to be a work in progress but is it playable or just betatestable? And where is the up to date version? There seem to be changes every day. Can't wait to try it. Sounds Great! Thanks, Ken -
This is basically an excerpt from a discussion way back when regarding a AAR of Jagermeister, the advanced scenario's battle. Fixes for the Advanced tutorial in the manual. Scenario - Jagermeister as the Russians Task Force B is supposed to head all the way to the far left hill. Your tanks can, indeed, reach that by turn 10 with fast move. They may not look like it when they are crawling through those trees, but they can. Oddly enough, I would probably have sent my infantry on foot. They would get there a LOT sooner (I think) and could make sure all is clear for your IS-2s. As for the tank riding infantry, I sent 3 squads and the HQ. I left the other squad with the Coy CO. (4 squads and a leader would require 5 tanks while the tutorial only allows 4) Regarding TF A, that is easy... but if I play it again I would not put all my forces right there at the scattered woods & hut. I'd spread them out some along the back of the ridge all the way between the left side of the road & the hut. With the new supression model, if all your troops crest and descend in the same place then fire on one squad in the midst will affect everyone around too. There you need to make sure your SUs have local superiority so that your troops can advance over the crest without being slaughtered. TF B should hopefully be in position to attract the Panthers' attention. Also, the 6 or so remaining IS-2s I had were doing shoot & scoot or seek hulldown to the Tigers to take them out. That actually worked quite well, but I think I was lucky.

Don't know if this is possible at this point as this thread has turned into a series of bumps, but someone really needs to add the corrections to the advanced tutorial to the FAQ. Any newbie could really use that to be fixed. It's awfully confusing as is with the whole left/right thing mixed up. Thanks, Ken

gotta bump it at least once...

I found a couple of training scenarios on the Boots and Tracks website with accompanying AAR's. Were these originally posted with an article or something? The don't have any kind of a briefing and the AAR's would seem to be spoiler ridden. Any idea's? Thanks, Ken
