The PzII Luchs is in the game

The panzer Is, 2s were left in normandy as training tanks and were originally used in 1940 to invade france, poland and then used in italy and mostly the eastern front.

I believe there should be panzer I's in the normandy game because even though they were training tanks the axis had to have put them (the training tanks) to use against the allies. They had to use whatever they had in the area.

It should be noted, that the Luchs was not really a PzII. Or better a late, quite advanced version.

"PzII" stands more for a family of light tanks, which evolved over the years. The Luchs had not very much in common with the early PzII.

I just had one in a 1944 BN scenario. But it quickly met the fate of obsolete light tanks. RIP...

send pz1 or 2 against some troops armored cars,  jeeps or half tracks and you would see that it wasn't obsolete.

Yeah, in my case, there were some Sherman's around, too. I sent the Luchs forward for scouting. Basically to clear infantry. Which it duly did, until it caught a 76mm round... The following King Tiger paid back in heavy coin.

I didn't know that there were any PZ1s still in Normandy by '44. Do you know the names of the units that had them at the time of the invasion?

IIRC they even had some of the latest, very rare model, with the high velocity autocannon.

edit:

The Ausf.C was a completely revised version of the previous Panzers. The hull, suspensions, track system, turret, propulsion, armor and armament were all new. It was given 30 mm (1.18 in) of armor, torsion-bar suspension, interleaved road wheels and a 7.92 mm (0.31 in) EW 141 antitank rifle. These tanks were assigned to the LVIII Panzer Reserve Corps, which fought in France in 1944. The Ausf.C was built in limited numbers (40 standard and 6 prototypes) by Krauss-Maffei and Daimler-Benz.

Also used in North Africa for some recon and convoy escort. Too fragile to stand up to any British gun armed tank though.

If I had to hazard a guess (I don't really TBH, I could just look in Spielberger), I'd imagine this vehicle and the Pz.I Ausf F may have been inspired by the British Matilda Infantry Tanks which gave the Germans a bit of a scare at Arras in 1940:
