CMRT Campaign: The Last Panzer (Work in Progress

Recommended Posts

I have been working on a new CMRT Campaign called The Last Panzer. It will depict actions of Panzer Division Muncheberg during April 1945. It is currently about 2/3rds done. It will cover actions in the Kustrin Corridor (4 battles), 2 days of the battle for Seelow Heights (2 battles), actions near the village of Muncheberg ( 1 battle) and 2 or 3 battles with in Berlin itself. All the maps are created by myself with the exception of one which credits will be given at the time of release. It will also feature snow environments using VM's winter mod created a while back, one which I felt was way underused and hope to showcase in this campaign. All mods tagged will be in the download.

Some of the core units involved in the campaign are:

Germans:

Pz Rg 29 Muncheberg

PzGr Rg 1 Muncheberg

PzGr Rg 2 Muncheberg

schwere PzJag Abt 682

11th SS PzGr Nord

Panzer Pioneer Kompanie

Pz Artillerie Rg

Soviets:

47th GD's RD

48th GD's RD

79th GD's Hvy Tank Rg

49th GD's Tank Rg

29th Recon Bn

50th GD's Hvy Tank Rg

1461st SU Rg

20th Tank Brg

295th RD

I have tried to recreate the situation of this time period as accurately as possible using the current tools available in CMRT. It will be mainly a defensive campaign but will also have counterattack operations as well as a few small unit encounters to add variety but still stick to the storyline. The main objective in most of it is to keep as many units intact for the final fights in the defense of Berlin. The final battle will probably be a escape scenario to try and get as many survivors across to the west though I am still working that one out lol. Just designing the Berlin maps will be daunting enough:o. Hopefully I will be able to finish this project out and when I do I will ask for some playtesting volunteers to give it a run through before release.

Anyhow just thought I would put this up to let you know whats in the works. When I can I will post some screenies.

Sounds great Mike (it was Mike, uhh, right?). We need more guys like you. Report to the clinic for cloning!

Funny you mention the Winter Mod. I am taking that from ground zero to an advanced level with expanded winter terrain, winter uniforms and whitewashed vehicles/guns for both sides. If you don't need all that, or just stay with VM's stuff, I understand. But just let me know if you are interested and we can PM back and forth. :D

Thanks. I have been following your work and it looks great. I am so far into this campaign I hate to change it up now plus I do want to show VM's work as I have not seen it in any scenarios thus far. However I am sure your efforts will be put to good use in some later projects. I also have been following your modding tutorial and it is some very good info. I have only done some minor modding myself so hopefully I will maybe learn some skills from your efforts.

Thanks again

Mike

Those look great. Congrats to the " winter" team. I may be able to work some of these in as tags as both of these "babies" are in the campaign. If not they can definately be used for later projects. The time frame depicted in this campaign was just following a brutal winter in Germany and it is just beginning to break into the spring thaw. So as the scenarios move forward I have used VM's winter terrain mod in to depict snow early but less and less as the campaign progresses. I tried to keep it as realistic as possible by adjusting his mod to depict this. Hopefully the players will have at least a feel for what the weather and conditions were during this time frame. We shall see. It may end up being a bust lol.

I really like the look of the Panther as it doesnt have the snow cammo which was probably the case at this point in the war as the Germans probably didnt give a rats butt what paint it had as long as it could move and shoot. But the snow picked up on the treads and wheels really looks good.

  • 3 weeks later...

The campaign is moving into it's final design phase with the second of two Berlin maps being built. I have begun to incorporate some of the Winter mod teams excellent work into the campaign as well. I hope when it's released it will give the player a realistic experience for this stage of the war. The two Berlin maps are not perfect but I did try and model them with old maps as accurate as possible. I had to use eastern Europe architecture due to the limits of the game engine but hopefully it will suffice.

Looks great. We already have T34 1942 early and T34-85-1943 whitewashed if You need them. Soon we will also have all ot the white roofs on Eastern Front. For complete Winter Mod, list as of today, look here: http://community.battlefront.com/topic/121301-cmrt-winter-mod-thinktank/?do=findComment&comment=1646920

If You need anything special for your scenarios PM me.

Thanks for using CMRT Winter Mod

Thanks guys. The Winter Mod really added alot to the early battles which had snow on the ground from late winter. The campaign time period will run from mid April, 1945 until the final battles in Berlin in May, 1945. Based on photographs during this time period I did not see vehicles with the snow camo so I have held off from using them. The snow on the tracks and wheels would work perfect for those early scenarios though. I have thought about fiddling with that in photoshop but it has taken almost a week to design the second Berlin map so just havent had the time. If any of you guys would like to work on those for me I would be glad to showcase them in the campaign.

I need the following vehicles with dusted tracks and wheels and a little mud (lol)

German

Tiger 1(mid and late)

Tiger 2

Panther G (mid and late) Panther A (mid)

Mk IV G and H

spw 251(c and d)

spw 251/3

spw 251/10 and 17

spw 251/9

Kublel wagon

Truck Opel Blitz

sdkfz flak 10/5

pak 40 75mm

stug IIIG mid

Tank Destroyer Nashorn (late)

Tank Destroyer JgPz IV (late)

Tank Destroyer Hertzer

Russian

T34/85 (early, mid and late)

T34/76(1942 ( early and late)

IS-1

IS-2 (mid and late)

Su-85 (late)

OT-34 (M1942)

ISU-152

Truck Gaz MM

I use Aris vehicle textures so if you want to use these as a base it may make it a bit easier. I know this is a big list so any help will be appreciated and it would be my honor to include these in the campaign with all credits given their due. Once I finish this last behemoth of a Berlin map I will put the final touches in and hopefully it will be ready to play test.

Thanks

Mike

Lol its all good guys.  It was wishful thinking. I will incorporate what I can to show off the excellent work you guys have done. This is a big campaign and hopefully the first of many to show case your mods.

If You need only snowy/dirty tracks and wheels, actually we got a lot of them :)

Problem is if the user already have Winter Mod installed and you tag vehicles with [snow] it will load whole whitewashed vehicles. As it is spring/snowy specific maybe to only tag tracks and wheels with, for example [springsnow] and you bundle them with scenario?
