Macisle
I was checking out a video link from the CM: Black Sea update thread and stumbled on this: http://www.military.com/video/combat-vehicles/combat-tanks/ukrainians-hotwire-ww2-tank/3630574236001/ I guess Ukrainian military museums don't do much deactivation prep work on their tanks before presenting them to the public!

Here, the insides: A bit of rust and some abadonned vodka bottles, but still working... Yes, these old IS-3 tanks were 100% fonctional (including main gun if I trust a friend). But good luck finding ammo ^^ He's gone... where?
Oddball_E8
Yeah, I think the general practice of the soviet union was pretty much to drive the gank up on the plinth and leave it there
Saferight
Here is some other WW2 era kit still being used there. Surprised by the amount of PTRS-41's the Donbas militia have.

Yeah, ammo availability was my first thought after learning that they got it running. Still, I would imagine that they can turn it into an MG platform at least. Thanks also for the T34 link, Saferight. Boy, that one looks fresh off the factory floor! Strange days, indeed. Subscribe to your favorite rebel group's video channel and support the team. Ya it seems like every group of rebels/freedom fighters/terrorists needs to have a webmaster and social media manager nowadays. The Russian separatists will soon get the hang of it though like their counterparts in the middle east. Guess you gotta win the info war and get donations right?

Some how I have gotten the feeling that big brother on the other side of the border is helping a lot with this Just like westerners are doing for the Ukraininan goverment. So far this conflict has been a prime example of the famous saying "Truth is the first victim of war" (or something like that)
nik mond
Do you figure that stg-44 is re-chambered for AK ammo, or still using the 7.92 kurz. I think there is only one factory that still makes that ammo.

I think there is only one factory that still makes that ammo. I believe that was at yanukovich's modest abode so im assuming that guy might have taken it from his private collection. He had a huge collection of weapons and ammo so it might be 7.92 kurz.

I just stick to the vice news coverage they seem very un biased about the conflict just showing the all round bs of the situation.

Yes, it's a Serbian company called Prvi Partizan: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prvi_Partizan They produce a lot of what are now considered "oddball" calibers of ammo, along with stuff that can be hard to find. I have a whole stack of their .303 ammo, which I use in my Lee-Enfields. Good stuff.

Aren't they (and about everything else) illegal in Brown's Nanny State? (Insert sarcasm here)
