Sequoia
Just wondering how common British soldiers in short trousers that one sees in photos actually was, and if they wore them in Sicily and the Italian mainland?
JonS
Sicily I think yes, Italy in the autumn I think yes, but not after that (i.e., not in the summer of 44 at Cassino). eg: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Canadians_Sicily1.jpg Edit: Despite what the photo shows, the choice of what uniform to wear generally wasn't up to the individual to chose. At regular intervals during the year (spring/autumn) unit standing orders would include a line to the effect "Summer dress will now be worn" or "battle dress will now be worn". Of course, those orders invariably came out several weeks after the weather had become too hot/cold/dry/wet for the other uniform to be comfortable ...
ASL Veteran
I'm pretty confident that the Canadians were wearing shorts in Sicily.
Childress
Brits in shorts? Quelle horreur! JonS in shorts, now that's worth seeing. Or so I've been told.
JonS
We've had a very good summer, so my legs do have a rather lovely tan. I should warn you, though, that I'm not a cyclist so they aren't shaven. "Hirsute" I think is the term.

JonS
Certainly does. Fishnets aren't too bad though.
Sequoia
Well it's obvious where I'm going with this: Will the CMFI Canadians and Brits be in shorts in Sicily?
ChrisND
Well it's obvious where I'm going with this: Will the CMFI Canadians and Brits be in shorts in Sicily? We are indeed working on Brits/Canadians with shorts during Sicily, although the artwork is still in progress. They will be an option you can select through the "Appearance" function.

LongLeftFlank
And at the other end of the clothing spectrum, now that snow is making an appearance, I assume winter clothing (e.g. greatcoats) will also become available. ISTR greatcoat clad ANA forces appearing in CMA. EDIT: Oops, question answered in another thread.
Erwin
Can we have shapely female partisans? Um... in various forms of uniform... or not...
Waycool
Would like to see a mix of shorts and trousers for the Brit and Canadian troops as illustrated in Jons link.
