  1. For me conceptually, the biggest difference between the WWII titles and CMCW or the other modern titles is lethality. Everything can kill everything (except US AT weapons vs T-64 or T-72 in '79) with one shot, AT weapons are ubiquitous, everyone has an assault rifle, and artillery is even more deadly than in WWII with VT fuses and ICM. The margin for error in modern titles is much less than in the WWII series and the tempo is faster. H
  2. I want BOAR for all the cool OG heavy metal they bring. Germans would be my 2nd choice for the next module. H
  3. Giving yourself more artillery (or any other asset) is just a quick trip to the scenario editor away. H
  4. From what I remember from that scenario the Soviet attack is a diversion/secondary effort. The artillery and air support is being used for the main event elsewhere. H
  5. Now I've seen everything. Plt. commander has a M16 but he transitioned to his pistol and shot down the Soviet crewman with it at close range. H
  6. I keep seeing references to the ‘new module’ that’s being worked on but haven’t seen any details. Who knows (or wants to speculate) what and when? H
  7. In ‘79 any Sov ATGM or RPG will take out any of my tanks. Even if they hit none of the US AT weapons is a high probability of a kill on the frontal arc of T64 or T72. H
  8. The way I internalize it is that the 4 tank platoons are designed to be split into pairs for mutual support. The 3 tank platoons are intended to be used together as part of a tank company. Where I'd send a pair of western tanks I'll send a 3 tank platoon of Soviet tanks. Same general principals apply but the level you're operating at is different. The Soviet 4 tank platoons can be split down into pairs for supporting mech infantry companies. H
  9. I have never seen this before. BMP1 rolling, they hating, they see my M113 hiding behind a building (in ambush with the leader unbuttoned) and not only are the passengers firing on the AT team in the building on the left, the passengers on the other side acquire and shoot down my M113 TC before he can engage with his M2... H
  10. You get an elevator? I should be so lucky… Just a 5 story walk up, both ways. H
  11. I’m afraid I don’t understand the context of your question. H
  12. I don't care if I lose the current scenario, I got a kill against a T64 from the front WITH A DRAGON! I had a flank shot ambush all planned out but the pesky tank had plans of their own, which I ruined! H
  13. My recollection is that the patch introduced the M113 thermal bug. H
  14. Same bug or related to the one where all the M113s have thermal sight spotting capability? That one made me give up on playing the Soviets until it's fixed. H
  15. Need to file a bug report on that AK picture. They kick the empties out about 10 meters to the front right. H
  16. This and don't forget artillery. With the Soviets it's almost more of how does the armor support the artillery plan than vice versa. H
  17. Vladimir, your tank is the worst performing to norms so you're the designated active IR tank. The remainder of the platoon will fire on the American muzzle flashes and ATGM launch signatures. Comrades, you have your orders! H
  18. CMCW in '79 is like fighting the Germans in late WWII. Except this time the Americans don't have superior numbers on their side while fighting tanks that are pretty immune to frontal hits. Even early TOWs don't reliably kill T64s/72s. H
  19. This. I've been searching the TO&E for seeing eye dogs for my M60A1 unbuttoned TCs when fighting at night. Alas, they die to T62s w/o ever seeing what killed them. H
  20. Tube artillery cluster munitions (USA) don’t do a very good job of tank killing. They are much more effective at destroying BMPs and BTRs, and they do make the tanks button up and degrade subsystems. OTOH, in the direct fire realm, Mk19s take a lot of rounds (side hits) to kill a tank but they do seem to blind them pretty quick. H
  21. I dunno, it's typical Soviet life. When you have ration coupons for meat, the store does't have meat. When the store has meat, you're out of meat coupons... Welcome to the future, New Soviet Man! H
  22. I'd like breaching capabilities and would love to see an easier to implement vehicle prepared position as well that doesn't need the map editor. H
