If someone was new to the CM series this would be up their alley. It would hit a more mainstream audience better I think.
Someone who is in the know will appreciate all the retexturing.
The scenarios may be small but just think what it would look like if they were applied to larger maps.
@NPye I'd love to get my hands on this modpack, if we can figure out a way to send anything nowadays. Maybe we can set up a ftp server.
Ah, we're on the same wavelength. Posted about FGM in another thread but I'm not sure if Bootie has limits for huge uploads.

That was just an odd scenario. If it was triple the size and clear visibility then things would have played out very differently!
Thankyou my friend. We must look for a triple-sized scenario with clear visiblity .

What a load of 'rubble'! I'm sure I read something like that somewhere but can't see it now .
So the long term plan - will the mods and battles (to come) be uploaded perhaps to FGM so that downloading will not require a subscription to the 'huge side' of Dropbox? Not sure if FGM has any limitations on large uploads...

Yes very much like that but not necessarily scripted. Similarly to the AAR threads that Bil etc do whereby the opponent doesn't go into that thread, this would be the same except rather than someone showcasing how good they are, I would set out my thoughts and people could chip in with corrections / advice on the best way to proceed vs my plan if that makes sense?
I *also (Bil beat me to it)* think this is a great idea, will look out for it. Also I have played and lost to Artkin, so the best of luck .

I've found assigning artillery challenging at times (including now) so it's a good question. I'm sure some artillery experts will come along soon...

Good luck JM, and I hope you succeed. Let me know if I can test anything. Or even try to learn the AI programming in the editor .

CMFI. It has good variety of terrain, and is easier than hedgerow fighting for a noob as in CMBN. It runs the smoothest graphically IMO too.
That's a fair point, hedgerow fighting can be hell (did someone already say that ?). I'm playing a hedgerow H2H just now so enough said.
Graphically CMFI does however (in my experience) have the worst 'jaggy' shadows issue though, perhaps the lovely sunny climate combined with low sun at certain times of day?

Why I like or dislike each?
Well said Wim. And I'd add that the additional scenarios and campaigns by people like your good self (and content by people like @George MC of course ) make a big difference. And I don't mean to belittle the original content or the additional stuff for other titles.
For me, starting again I would go BN then RT if I was enjoying myself (which I would be).

Is there a better source for judging the sentiments of various regions of Ukraine towards belonging to either Ukraine or Russia than this?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1991_Ukrainian_independence_referendum#By_regionAlbeit from 1991. Some regions have been rather manipulated since then?

The usual rule of thumb is the time period or theatre that interests you most.
Agreed, I went for Red Thunder first as that is my usual thing (although I'd like the timeframe extended to early East Front as well). Then CMBN (possibily the best to start with for sheer content as said above). Then FI, then FB.
I play them all, but at the moment mostly BN as I have some lovely PBEM opponents, followed by RT.

Last time I overclocked was a long long while ago with this setup (including the improved cooling):
- Core2Duo E6750 2.66GHz OC@ 3.2GHz
- Arctic Freezer 7 Pro CPU cooler
- ASUS EN8800 GT 512MB OC@ 700Mhz / 2000MHz
- Thermaltake DuoOrb VGA cooler
Things have of course moved on a lot since then, but I had no issues whatsoever with that setup (in fact it's still in my loft, its place taken by a gaming laptop these days).

after this guy named John
I've found that what John (aka @BFCElvis) says is generally correct - isn't that right John ?
Certainly for me PBEM saves where the number at the end always increments have never failed except for one where I loaded up a preceding save by mistake and guess what, it wouldn't let me overwrite the incremented file number that it already had. This made sense to me.
For single player, can you call a save file the same name as a previous one? Not so sure about that, but I have always gone with the automatically incremented number system and it has not failed so far either. Do I end up with a lot of files? Yes - but they can easily be deleted once done with.
If I'm missing the point forgive me as I can't see the video either.

Its 15gb bud
Then I can accuse you of having a very large package .
Perhaps I'll forego the pleasure for now but I would like to give it a proper go at some point. Having said that I never finished your Stalingrad battle that I was trying - might resurrect that instead...

but only if you have a big dropbox
Having a big dropbox is not something I've ever been accused of. It seems my account is only 2.5GB and it would need a bit of a clearout. Might be doable in a couple of goes though?

Looks great Nigel, particualry the 'populated' areas with wrecks etc. I'm sure the music will go down well in certain quarters...
I'm thinking I need to fight a battle there to really enjoy (aka judge) it properly - is that a possibility yet?

Apologies if I've missed this earlier in the thread.

Hello and welcome. That's a good question as I think a lot of people (me included) want to play the KG Peiper campaign etc. and see if we can do better. Having tried that though it pretty quickly gets tough so it's not an easy assignment. I suspect playing as the US in the earlier battles is not easy either (for historical reasons if nothing else).
For what it's worth, my favourite battle so far in FB is 'A Muddy Affair' played by PBEM - quite the slog and (no bragging intended) an eventual victory as, yes you guessed it, the Germans. My opponent was not easy to beat though...

Age is just a number. So they say .
Wim, Dave and I are just starting Timmes Digs In if you want feedback on that one? I've read your notes carefully. Being the gentleman he is, he selected the one with the larger version of the German forces (Edit: for clarity that's me, he's 82nd through and through). I'd like a few more troops though and we could forget history and have a few Tigers on hand?

Warning. I strongly suspect that my last two scenarios - Le Motey and Amfreville - Strike Two will be difficult for the American player.
Well if I get to choose sides that's not a problem .
I've got to know Amfreville quite well already from 'Boots on the ground' , including odd quirks of where certain vehicles can and can't go.

I used to love this going back a few years - Grey Wolves?
As for CMBN you have done a great service Wim and at least a few of us are benefitting. As you know I have two of your battles under way as H2H, (one of which wasn't meant to be H2H) but I wouldn't mind another against you at some point if that's what you mean.

No, there's no separate "LOS Tool" in CMx2, not in any engine variant.
Hmmm, thought I read that there was once, perhaps in CMx1 then.
Anyway reading what I wrote again, I have of course played Engine 4 for more hours than I can imagine (no Steam counter to keep track though ).
