oh yeah, that could be it...
I don't see where @Amb said he's using the animated text mod?
The comment 'the patches seem like they were designed for another title' is a clue. If you click on 'patches' on the CMFB purchase page, the only patches shown are for Engine 3 and seem to be those for CMBN, not CMFB. If however you go directly to the patches page from the main menu you get the option of a patch for Engine 4, plus older Engine 3 patches for CMFB (but not CMBN this time).
@BFCElvis you might want to check this?
@Amb if you purchased CMFB Engine 4 you only need the Engine 4 patch v203 on the patches page.

I recently bought the game and had to download and install all the patches for CMFB to play
A recent CMFB purchase would be Engine 4 right? For that there is only one patch v2.03. That's what I did with my install last year.
Or am I misunderstanding what you said?

I swear one of my Panthers did it once in the Red Thunder demo
You mean 'Pop smoke'? Various German tanks have this in-game, saved my bacon (well Panther actually) in Barkmann's Corner Re-visited recently. Or do you mean you were surprised the TacAI did it?

Not a stupid question at all.
for me...under local disk C then Program Files (x86) then Battlefront then Combat Mission Red Thunder then Data you create a subfolder z (or maybe already there, I forget) and THAT is where you put the mods. Some people organize the z folder a certain way, I just shove it all in there and therefore I sometimes have issues, but I got a lot going on, you should be ok.
Also Phil, thought I'd mention that the battles themselves (the .btt files) go in the C:\Users\Username\Documents\Battlefront\Combat Mission\Red Thunder\Game Files\Scenarios folder so slightly different to the mods.

Timmy, land at Pflugerville, hold the bridges, resistance is expected to be Hitler youth and old men
Great movie Phil, even if the German vehicles don't look anything like they should .
So they still have Hitler Youth in Pflugerville? They must also be getting on a bit now. Anyway if by Hitler Youth they meant 12th SS HJ I would not have been encouraged by that. I guess they didn't mean that. In reality they came up against the 9th and 10th SS I think?

If I do get over there Phil, it would be great to meet up. Let's see...

Here again about capabilities of crews in steel boxes to spot incoming ATGMs to react on them or immediately open fire at the launcher. UKR Stugna-P crew fired a missile directly in front of driving BMP
To be fair I'd say that was a good shot, well executed. Not much chance for the target to react. But why were they barrel-assing down the road on their own in the first place?

Yes, brother-in-law and his family. Somewhere called Pflugerville (say what?) after a while in McAllen. But he's not into CM so I might not be visiting him .

So can I come and try the sauna instead? I'll bring some home-grown Habaneros and we can share a hot pizza in your dining room .
Seriously Phil take your time and do your priority things as you see them. Not having an in-game KV1 is not really your fault after all.
And yes I saw mention of the Barbarossa map, love it!
-
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Phil ( @kohlenklau ) has done lots of great stuff, including the early war stuff as described above. Highly recommend them. And he's a nice guy .
So can I play with that KV1 yet Phil? Please...
-
Thanks for a timely reminder Wim. While I've played much of Phil's / @kohlenklau's fine work (even against the master himself), I have yet to try the FINN scenarios. I think he's labouring with a KV1 mod just now...

I really did LOL. As for the video, a definite WTF moment...

No disagreement from me. I wish you well and hope it works for you.
And yes, I've also been there with the latest and greatest releases of various games which ended up not being played for more than an hour or two. Particularly on Steam, where I think I read that over a third of purchases have never even been installed by the purchaser, so perhaps part of bundles or whatever but that's a lot of wasted money.

LOL it does a bit... Anyway, welcome (although you've been around a lot longer than me).
I have a few other PBEMs going plus testing for some excellent scenario designers, so for now I'll say I hope some others will come along to take you on. If they don't, I'd be happy to do so in a few days' time. I can check back or PM me if you prefer to focus my attention .
And I would not expect that I'd get an easy win against an experienced player, or anyone else for that matter .

I never played CM1 at all, but it looks *coughs loudly* similar to CM2. I wonder how many folk still play CM1, can't imagine many are buying it from GOG or wherever in preference to CM2. That being the case you may be limiting your target audience rather severely?
On the main subject of tutorials, I played the demo Monster Mash for what was to become my first CM title Red Thunder without having seen a tutorial. Didn't have a clue to start with but it forced me to learn quite quickly. When I got the game, I did the tutorial, and sure enough it taught me a lot of the things I had done wrong in the demo. But not everything. Later on, rather belatedly, I realised that some crazy fools had posted loads of useful Youtube videos and some of them are excellent learning tools.

Also this recent thread looks like it ended up with the same suggestion / result.
Described as a fix (near the end of the thread), but I wouldn't know.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-europe-61461805 has a number of worrying elements in today's updates from Mariupol.
Specifically the Russian court case to declare the Azov Battalion a terrorist organisation, the refusal to confirm that the people extracted to Russia will be treated as POWs and not war criminals, and "Vyacheslav Volodin, speaker of the Russian State Duma, said those evacuated should not be subject to exchange and should instead be brought to justice"
I fear it's inevitable that the defenders of Azovstal are going to be tortured and likely murdered following show trials with predetermined outcomes
I hope not but I think we probably all thought about this. If it does happen, it will not do Russia any good in the long term.

I have heard mention by folk on the street in the UK that we should not be spending so much money in Ukraine and we should be helping the cost of living crisis at home
Where I am in the UK I have not heard folk on the street mentioning this, but to be honest I don't tend to hang around listening .
What I have seen is an increase in numbers of blue and yellow flags outside houses. Of course what happens in one area may not represent wider regions.

Very nice George . Hope the family stuff is okay...

Just walked by the TV as Eurovision and Ukraine's entry was playing. The singer gave a shout out to Azovstal and Mariupol.
Respect is due .
