  1. That's great Rob, well done. If anything is amiss, post back here again.
  2. Well the Z folder could be re-built as I have the downloaded zip files elsewhere. Might be an opportunity to tidy it up, it surely needs it . The saved games less so, but apart from a handful of current games it's not the end of the world, plus of course PBEM opponents (and Dropbox) may have the recent saves. I'll look out for Rob's reply.
  3. On this item I was a bit lazy this time. I didn't move or copy my Z or my saved games. No problem though, they're still there.
  4. I also think that could the problem JM. I had to manually enter the location for the patch.
  5. So Rob, I think you acted quicker than I could write . Anyway, no worries, you saved the stuff that's unique to you (so to speak). If you start again I think the game install will be v4.00, to which you will need to apply the latest patch (covering 4.01 to 4.04). Someone please correct me if I'm worng. I suppose what I'm saying is be careful to install both the game and the patch to the same place. And then of course you can chuck your Z etc back in.
  6. Before drastic delete () can you find the Data folder, should look like this, with brz files all the way up to 404: If your folder has some but not all brz's I think it suggests the patch has gone to the wrong location.
  7. Hi Rob Where is you CMBN folder on your PC? Mine is on the D drive, but the patch installs to somewhere on C by default (of course it gives you the option to point it to the right place). Just saying in case your patch has ended up in the wrong place. Having said that I would have thought you would still be able to load the pre-patch version but who knows. As for the mods, I didn't do a thing with my Z folder, and it's still working fine.
  8. Just checking - you do know there's a Seelow Heights battle in Fire & Rubble? Not sure if the map will be similar or overlap with yours though. EDIT : Had a quick look at FR Seelow Heights, it's roughly 5000m by 2000m with a lot of open fields. The author is Jon Martina - I think this is @ASL Veteran?
  9. There are quite a lot of single player missions (including in particular a load from one guy on their forum who keeps releasing an updated scenrio pack) and quite a few campaigns. Is the AI any good? I can't really comment as I haven't got much further than the firing range. It did teach me the correct way to aim a Tiger's 88mm though . The other thing it made me think about was my old TrackIR head-tracker - this is supoorted but only with a later version than mine IIRC. And I think there's also VR beyond that. I can have a look if anyone wants confirmation.
  10. Yes I saw that but didn't pay it much attention and used the button as normal. What should it offer me for PBEM and single player?
  11. No worries, eager to hear more thoughts. I bought Il2 Tank Crew early on just to support it and have hardly played it, but I will if I can stop playing CM.
  12. Okay I've just played turn 102 of an existing PBEM. No problems whatsoever and the JuJu / @Ithikial_AU UI was fine (just as well as I can't play without it).
  13. Yes I would trust Harry's view to inform my own purchase or not. I'm in the not camp at the moment.
  14. Mine seems okay but just from quick look - I've been in CMFB instead.
  15. My patch seems to have worked fine, once I pointed it at the folder on my D drive where CMBN lives, instead of the patch suggestion of somewhere on the C drive. All seems okay, none of the problems above.
  16. Many thanks Nigel, downloaded in very quick fashion.
  17. I did this one a while ago with a similar end. Saved the Tiger of course .
  18. Okay a bit of editing there. Anyway Phil, you know I'm your biggest fan (but not in an Eminem way) and we both try for snippets of good news on early war stuff. Let's keep trying, you never know. I'm not expecting anything, so I won't be disappointed. In the meantime I'm engaging the Soviets again on the Eastern Front but it's 1945, what am I doing?
  19. Very well said Dr W. And I'd like to thank you too for your input to the game. Even if I lost most of the battles .
  20. Fair point, it's just that the reviewer compared them so I thought I'd mention it. I had a look for a demo but I don't think there is one?
  21. So his summary includes: I would argue it’s one of the most complex wargames at the tactical scale level, surpassed solely (only in some aspects) by the likes of Combat Mission and the Graviteam Tactics series. Coupled with the cartoon graphics I think we're probably better off with CM. Having said that he was very complimentary about Second Front's AI both on the offense and defense.

  23. I've read that a few times and it's good to hear. Is your love strong enough that it might translate into an early war EF expansion/title? I guess not, and I think I may also have read that before. As for the conversation about WW2 versus modern, my signature shows my current allegiance, but I'm increasingly tempted by the other side...
  24. Peerhaps a small typo here? Shoud it be 17 like the other mentions?
