  1. After some head scratching (I ain't no math grog either) and contemplation of the importance of what was a notional precentage from Steve anyway, I feel obliged to return to the above calculation . Steve said '99.9999% of the world's population would find Combat Mission "not fun"' That means 0.0001% would find it fun. 0.0001% of 7.8 billion is 7800. The % makes all the difference, well 2 zeros difference to be precise. @Lethaface I think your version misses the % as it calculates the number out of 100 and then mulitiplies by the 7.8 billion? Of course being a notional figure it matters not, so apologies to those who may have fallen into a deep sleep whilst reading this.
  2. Yes there was an 'update' and the board was down for a short while. Not sure what it did though... Ahh, thanks akd - the ubiqitous 3 dots arrives at the forum, plus a few visual changes.
  3. @Lucky_Strike Have to add to the above comments that this is great work. Thanks and looking forward to further developments . I saw the comment on eyesight during lockdown and sympathise. In my case I think sitting at the kitchen table in front of a laptop every day for months has not helped .
  4. Thanks everyone. Have been away in deepest darkest Devon for a week on a campsite with no electric (). As I have an Nvidia card I tried the Nvidia game overlay (not Shadowplay but came with the card nevertheless). Here's an attempt in RT with Winter Mod on (but not on the panzers however): Caption of course would have been "Hauptsturmfuhrer, I don't like this yellow snow." Anyway it's a start, might need to see if I can tweak settings or use movie mode, whatever that is .
  5. Haha, yes indeed. Thanks for the effort from you and Ithikial on this, very entertaining. Also thanks for the open discussion of issues, which I'm sure will be resolved before we get our grubby hands on F&R.
  6. I hope you're wrong about that Steve as it means only 7800 people might buy CM games, unless of course they are torturing themselves with things they don't find fun . You do of course have certain corporate customers who may not be allowed to admit to having fun. More seriously (but not much more), I'm happy to be one of the 0.0001% that finds CM fun. But as a fairly recent arrival it's more than just fun for me at the moment, more of an obsession...
  7. Bit of a late reply here, and hope you got it sorted already, but just a thought, have you got the other expansions metioned in the notes for the battle pack, copied below? Battle Pack 1 for CMBN requires all three previous expansions (Commonwealth Forces, Market Garden, and Vehicle Pack) for full functionality of the content.
  8. Hi @Grey Fox, thanks (and welcome? ). Will give it a try. I do have Nvidia so can do, thanks.
  9. Thanks, thought so but it's been many years since I used anything like Fraps - PrintScreen always worked in recent times. Anyway, will wait for more advice from the said forumites.
  10. I've searched with no success, so... When I try to take a screenshot via Print Screen (Win 10) all I get is the game loading screen. How do I capture the wonder of what is actually on my screen? Do I need to use something like FRAPS?
  11. There's nothing quite like opening a wargame box and sifting through the contents. Even if you have to earn it first, but as you say it can be enhanced by having to wait. Enjoy it and let us know how you get on with the games
  12. Which ones were the first 3? I may have lost the plot in all of the posts . Initial thoughts on what you got?
  13. My last edit disappeared, so... the paper was posted by GeorgeMC on the CMRT board in 2019.
  14. As if having another birthday this week wasn't enough, you have reminded me again of my advancing years - I actually like having manuals for these games . Having said that, I come here if I want answers to a lot of questions which come up. Oh, and I played the demo for my first CM game (RT) without reading the manual, that was interesting but I still bought the game just afterwards.
  15. Thanks John, appreciate it. And it's great to be here. Might have to get a Kindle version of the Zamulin book, looks well worth an English tenner . A question - does it agree with the recently posted (perhaps by you?) Kursk aerial photography paper which I managed to get a copy of? That paper was a turnaround of major proportions for me, even though I could hardly make out what was in the aerial photographs on my laptop and had to take the author's word for it.
  16. @StieliAlpha I think this post from @IanL answers your question?
  17. Your picture made me laugh, my Panther looked the same, lost both its main gun and its tracks but thanks to the infantry survived to hopefully fight another day.
  18. You obviously like a challenge, well done and respect! I might put in several KTs instead .
  19. As a Brit, I always (well okay not always) play as the Germans. Isn't that the correct way to do it? Works for me anyway...
  20. Sorry to hear that, but very glad you're okay. You and all contributers did a great job. I've just been playing a winter QB and the visuals and sound are fantastic. But yes, +1 to the 'any the day now'
  21. +1 to that. I'm a Slitherine customer and a very long term Steam user. I have no issues with either. Combat Mission is however the best of its type by a long way, so I hope this works out well and feeds more money to BFC for development and of course their general good . Nice to have such active involvement from Steve and everyone else on the forum as well, hope that continues.
  22. As per the old question from the back of the car, 'are we there yet'?
  23. Thanks John. Agreed trawling thorugh the list of 'forgotten' films was a little odd, having watched several of them many times (Cross of Iron for example). Anyway the photos were great, as were the following Kursk photos, although they're a bit better known than the Canadian photos.
