If they are told to double down and "re-establish" naval presence with a proper "fleet" on station, then UKR could hit the docks once they're on location (as the AA/AD will be much reduced). Slam the docks repeatedly, especially the dockside warehouses and drydock facilities during day time., ideally just before a storm (to interfere with damage control and ships leaving). Do this repeatedly, over several days, during day time - kill off the key personnel directing repairs. The Drydocks are absolute priorities, as they must be repaired and the specialists who can do that properly are few in number. 
Ruining the docks is also a great way to really **** with the BSF morale.

Every indicator I can see indicates that Russia's planning was for a short war. There's nor reason to suspect they stockpiled chips.

He ain't no Ivan-lovin' troll. Personally I'm not convinced by many of Erwin's arguments, I find Steve et al's more compelling (which speaks to your note about not adjusting his worldview) but even so, he's just saying what even I posted about way yonder back - Russia isn't done. 
There's still a lot of fight left in them and UKR victory is absolutely not a predetermined thing. It's likely, maybe even very likely, but its sure as heck not certain.
Heck, even Zelensky is saying it - "not every Russian soldier runs away, not every tank is abandoned- (etc)".
I think he could come up with better reasons, or at least better counter-counters to his reasons, but he's no appeaser.

Book on this sort of operational thought…tough one as most of this is my stuff and frankly I can’t remember who I stole it from.  If you want to get into it I read stuff like:
Azar Gat - “A History of Military Thought” and “War in Human Civilization”
The famous “Makers of Modern Strategy” edited by Peter Paret.  These are the classics.  “Unrestricted Warfare” “Russian Hybrid Warfare” by Fridman and “The Strategy of Subversion” by Bkackstone (an old Cold War book).  These are really good works on null and negative decision spaces.
But if you really want to up your game read Dune by Herbert, Foundation series by Asimov and The Expanse series by Corey.  Non-fiction is the well documented lies we tell ourselves, fiction is the truth we can only bare to speak through lies.
As for some of it, well I guess it is a book I have yet to write to be honest, just the ramblings of a homeless man on a wargaming forum street corner.

That approach would cross a red line which would mean all out war with Russia. NATO and the world would not be able to accept it so I seriously hope they don't but hey Putler is beyond sane at the moment and maybe he does not care about the world his daughters and grandchildren will live in?
I think and hope there might be enough in the Russian military to understand that their children and grandchildren will suffer if they cross this line.
Humans are hardwired to procreate and ultimately that like other animals is the main desire to ensure their offspring survive and prosper.

You do understand that this war is not abstract, right? There is a "tomorrow", and an "after the war"?
Seeding any country, let alone your own, with either FASCAM or any other cluster munition is a terrible idea.
That's probably why Ukraine has signed and ratified the Ottawa Treaty.

I, long ago, while being a peace keeper in Bosnia in '93 where I had front row seats to ethnic cleansing and had my mind and soul seared during the six months of hell myself and other Canadian peace keepers went through, came to a realization - we are fundamentally savages.  Intellectually as a species, we evolved to put a man on the moon and do all sorts of uplifting things.  But the savage in each and everyone of us is still there and we had far too many wars where the savage in each of us is stirred and we do terrible things to to other human beings - The holocaust, Stalin's atrocities to his own people and other ethnic groups, Rwanda, Bosnia, Cambodia, Sudan, Yemen, Ethopia.... etc.  All that in the last hundred years - never mind that this savagery had gone on for thousands of years.
We have no better angels.  We are not enlightened people, evolving out of our savage tribal roots.  We are savages with the trappings of a technological society.  We have guns, missiles and tanks instead of spears, clubs and bows.
Just pointing out what sometimes is getting missed.   What is happening in Ukraine is normal human interaction of the worst type.  If we grew out of our savage origins, humanity would have given up war and atrocities as a form of social interaction long ago.    

Well Clausewitz kinda left these parts out.  War is personal and worse it strips off all the veneer of civilization pretty quickly.  Military discipline is not just about keeping people from running away, it is just as much about ensuring they can still see which way is up. 

Why did they do it?  Because they can.  And in the end we are all scared monkeys that are equal parts kind as we are cruel.  You de-humanize your adversary hard enough and it is a slippery slope right to this sort of stuff.

Why don't YOU stop your nonsense, instead of trying to show how enlighted you are and accuse people of being racist, who just love their country and have a hard time to control their anger because it's being bombed to rubble. People like you make me sick to the stomach.

@Haiduk, @kraze Agreed. What is being done to your country and your people is vile and evil. Your anger and hatred towards your enemies is justified. All the " be nice to each other" crap can wait until the war is over. Be safe and keep your heads down guys.
