23rd Patrol Flotilla, Bong-Hai Imperial Navy, enters Wai-Bong Bay on the hunt for communist shipping:

Just a quick test of our 'Riverine' capabilities, on a map designed for the job.....Mostly to work out timings, as I've never scripted a scenario where all the vehicles are always swimming, so I have no idea how they will behave with the various AI movement orders.
For realism's sake all the AI movement will probably need to be Quick or Dash, to avoid the default stop/start behaviour (which AFAIK is not often seen in boats).
PS - I'm already running into issues with this scenario concept due to Battlefront's INSANE belief that Syria has not yet discovered radio communications.
@Battlefront.com.....It's about time this travesty was put right.
PPS - My assumption has always been that BF in turn made an assumption.....That NATO would jam the bejesus out of the Syrians.
Fair enough for CM:SF1, but in CM:SF2 we actually have ECM/Jamming, yet the Red forces generally have almost no radios to jam (and Uncon forces have no means of communicating at a distance whatsoever, which is hardly reminiscent of reality).
Let's make this clear, in CM, WWII Germans are better able to communicate than (fairly) modern Syrians.....That is just bloody silly IMHO, considering how poor/non-existent platoon level radios actually were in the Wehrmacht  and how common radios (or mobile phones) are today.

You've put the modpack into your (empty) mod folder to install it... to remove it you just have to move the modpack back out (I have a few folders I use to store modpacks & mods not being used).

For everyone else, a very busy work schedule & the various UK lockdowns are causing unavoidable delays with the content creation for the 'People's Beta' release.
My apologies, I really was hoping for a Christmas release & for awhile there I thought I might be able to get it done in time.
However, the one silver lining is that i've been able to build up quite a number of quick & minor modpack changes/refinements which, together, should help make the release a more enjoyable & immersive experience.
For instance, content creators might be interested in the expanded [burnt] tag...

If these lockdowns ever end & my work schedule returns to normal the 'People's Beta' should be quickly wrapped up... AFTER that I'll undoubtedly need a break from SE Asia & Afghanistan is looking a good bet for a quick conversion package for CMSF2.
I've become fairly adept at converting CMA scenario's (& even small campaigns) into CMSF2 as I find the mountainous terrain & (essentially) Red vs Red battles very useful to me... this week I've converted two more scenarios from @Fredrock1957's "Major Nosov's Brigade" for instance.
I'd probably like to hook up with (at the very least) @Zveroboy1 & yourself for such a project... there'd be far fewer tags that's for sure (Lowlands, Mountains, Snow & something to activate the 1980's* would be the primary tags & virtually all that work has already been done).
As for the Soviets, although their uniforms could be easily represented by an era specific tag, the voices would indeed be an issue.
For single player scenarios & campaigns, a voice tag a bit like our H&E [rvnaf] tag could be used to add flavour for the appropriate side (with regards FO voices & aircraft voices) however we would either need to make a "generic voice mod" (laughing, whistling, screams, equipment sounds etc) for the 80's OR we could just pretend that the Soviets merely provided air & arty support for a very well equipped DRA.

*The modern era would turn the Syrians into ANA, the 80's tag would turn the various Syrian branches into DRA & Soviet forces.

A feature to consider for engine upgrades is the command delay of CM1 being reinstated as an optional setting.

Yes, lets focus on Fire and Rubble, Engine Upgrades and other upcoming CM content. That is more interesting.

My post was meant to support your statement not to question it

Good article published by the US Army Medical Department:
    https://history.amedd.army.mil/booksdocs/wwii/woundblstcs/chapter11.htm
    On the WW2 US M1
"Some aspects of the value of the M1 helmet are discussed by Beebe and DeBakey in their book on battle casualties.4More recently, Norman Hitchman5 of the Army's Operations Research Office reviewed some of the World War II casualty statistics and reached some important and timely conclusions regarding the value of wearing a helmet in combat. The following observations resulted from this statistical analysis:
    1. Of all hits upon the helmet, 54 percent were defeated.
    2. For every 100 men wounded while wearing helmets, 9.6 men received wounds in the cranium. Without the helmet, it would be expected that 11.4 men would be wounded in the head.
    3. The M1 helmet prevented a number of incapacitating hits equal to 10 percent of the total hits on the body.
    4. The estimated savings in total battle casualties means that the helmet in World War II probably prevented wounds in more than 70,000 men. A significant proportion of these men would have been killed had the helmet not been worn.
    5. To get the same amount of saving by protecting other regions, body armor weighing more than twice as much as the helmet would have to be provided."

    - Should be also obvious that the main purpose of a helmet was not to protect from direct good-angle impact penetration by rifle rounds or them to do wonders. "However, battle casualty survey studies during World Wars I and II and the Korean War have shown that the primary wounding agent among the WIA and the KIA casualties was the fragmentation-type weapon"
    - that helmets cover a small part of the body is evident but it should be obvious that the upper cranium is one of the most critical areas when it comes to incapacitation and/or death. It is also a good idea to think outside of a wargamer chair as everybody with a service record would point this out: what is a more-than-usual exposed body part when situated in a trench, foxhole or in a typical (prone) firing position? Exactly. Thus simply comparing helmet body % vs overall body % is lacking.
    - For the French Adrian helmet 60-70% reduction in shrapnel head injury are thrown around in articles. These are secondary/tertiary sources and I never saw the primary source so I am in doubt about this high numbers without sighting the ps, could be "Helmets and Body Armor in Modern Warfare" by Dean, Bashford (1920) but not confirmed. The soldiers were often subject to shrapnel projectiles coming from above, these numbers could be very situational.
    - it was stated in this thread that the true protection of WW2 steel helmets is in the dark and that is exactly the case and what a good researcher/expert would point out.
    - Being almost a decade involved with military professionals, studying at military schools, reading multiple, multilingual sources, witnessing shrapnel/fragmentation and the protection of similar fashioned gear first hand I can´t remember coming across an opinion stating WW2 helmet shrapnel protection did not matter too much as it would be self-evident.

Despite this it is not a really important discussion for me as I am currently fine with how the CM simulation behaves when it comes to frag/shrapnel and that headgear is to some extent incorporated is a fine extra.

I would like to see the source that states that a WW2 steel helmet doesn´t matter too much and only offer a slight reduction in injury when it comes to shrapnel protection.

A slight mix up between naming conventions used for roads in the modern games & the WW2 era.  That particular (CMBS) road has since been allocated for use within Bong-Hai's cities only.
The rest of Bong-Hai gets a mix of CMA & WW2 roads. This is the same village today...

And, finally for now. Some more movies I recorded with Nvidia of the same mission.

    SPOILERS:

    War is hell:
    And CV9035 BEAST:
PS Although usually the CV9035 spends about 40 rounds taking out a single BMP-2 (and continues to put in 17+ rounds after it's target is on fire, or continues to pepper infantry with KETF after they've been observed dying), in this clip it somehow takes out 2 T-72s and only expands minimal ammo (hitting it in side and lower hull, stopping after penetrations have achieved desired effect).

The well deck of the USS Wasp is the scene of determined, professionals preparing for a rescue mission.

A Stryker unit that had been training in the neighboring country also mounts up.

The call for assistance will be answered.

Well no Halloween release but, as any viewers of my channel are likely aware, the People's Militia campaign is ticking along well now.
Indeed I'm hopefully not too far from entering the (dreaded) briefing writing stage.
One of the scenarios was slated to be a simplistic conversion of the Will'o'Wisps scenario however I've dropped that conversion now (I'll probably just stick that in the single scenario content for 0.97) as I needed a more "brutal" scenario.
As such I've decided to use a heavily cropped & (eventually) edited experimental map by @Combatintman...

...  the original was massive but this portion will load much more easily.

The modpack itself has, for the most part, only seen rather subtle changes. An example of this is tailoring the geometric floating icons by @Vinnart for red vs red warfare during the Bong-Hai Civil War era & beyond...

This map is based off a CMA map ("The Hunt"), it is scheduled to be the location of the first mission of the "People's Militia" campaign (an armed robbery at night)...

... I'll probably end up adding more tree's.
