Pre-orders for Fire and Rubble are now open!!
chuckdyke replied to BFCElvis's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
Yes, with WW 2 you play real scenarios and I like it better than playing hypothetical scenarios. Playing either Soviets or Germans in WW 2 they had good people in both armies. Alexei Alexbaiov was my uncle by marriage. He couldn't return to his country even for a holiday. His sin he was once a POW. -

Yes, and in 'Cold War' they demonstrate the game. Battle for Normandy as an example has the Road to Nijmegen module which is buggy you can't really complete the campaign fair and square. Heuman Lock Bridge among a few others. I am afraid the way they handle this module it will have its fair share of bugs too. Kudos to @Bil Hardenberger to demonstrate the game Cold War to us. It sets a new standard. -
It is the Generic C2 system with which we play the game. In your case the Surveillance, Target Acquisition, System by passes some protocols possibly. The Javelin by default shoots only at AFV's but we as the player can override it. We see one of our Abrams blissfully unaware entering the area covered by a Kornet observed by a scout team. Your javelin team is also unaware, but he has a visual on the building. We can play for God and take out the Kornet with our Javelin. Naturally the unaware Abrams pauses his move by pure coincidence too. Our game at the most last 2 hours in 4 hours' time a massive armored counterattack will come their way. But we don't worry about it we achieved our major or total victory. Our challenge is to make the game a true military simulator.

Sherman 76 comes also in 2 variants. Easy 8 is for me No1. It is more integrated in the C2 structure or the decision-making process on a tactical level. But that's the purpose of this forum to respectfully disagree. The Russian 85 mm has I imagine a better HE round this is offset if the Sherman HQ unit has a Priest to back his formation up. In Korea the Easy 8-76 mm was effective as an T34/85 killer. -
Some Minefield and Assault Tactics Findings

It has a similar role as the hand grenade. In the case of the flamethrower, the warning: "Fire in the hole!" must be taken literally. Funny enough it seems to apply only with explosives. -

It is pairing. Bunkers with HMG's inside yes, a few IS2 will take care of them. Panthers counter attack the IS2's can defend themselves for a while. Better pair the Panthers with company of T34/85 (quantity is a quality). -

I play fine on all the maps I have in my scenarios. Since I am not a scenario editor or a Beta Tester, I take their word for it. I don't have any Mods and I don't know or that makes a difference.

In psychology it is called stimuli generalization. If you tell your wife there goes an 'APC' you know (subconsciously) that you must explain what an APC is. Like my sister who at best regards the armed forces as a necessarily evil.

I went to the computershop I always visit. Here is the PC I bought 8 years ago and I want to run this Photo program and these games on my new PC. He fixed the old PC which I connect now to my TV and the New PC runs everything I asked for. I know next to nothing about 'gaming computers.' 16 Gig Ram and the games are installed on a 500 GB SSD drive. Give your specs to somebody who knows what he is doing. All my CM Games run smoothly.

First in RL infantry the closest Camera position is No1. You go in an AFV position No2 Go to the top floor of an apartment No3. HQ use a map Position No5 to No 9 to give orders to units with C2 connection. I don't claim the game has to be played this way. Me and my human opponent agree to it because we agreed the game as it comes falls short. You can also make a clickfest on No4 camera setting and ignore the C2. As long as you enjoy the game.

Using Battalion level formations? There are no rooms in Combat Mission for house clearing cover and concealment is very much generic. The reason I bought Combat Mission it simulates Company and Battalion level engagements. Arma3 is at the most platoon level, I may have another look at the game. Got sick and tired of the sniper standing right up on the roof of a building, about 8 years ago. CM is not perfect but with micromanagement your units can behave realistically. Shooting a .357 magnum in Call of Duty. I can tell you it is not very realistic, I owned one for 20 years with a mouse you can't simulate any firearm realistically. Let's us not play silly buggers we can play up to battalion level engagements preferably against a human player. Hotseat is my preferred level of gameplay. Graphics comes last on my wish list. I like to see buildings with rooms and cellars than we must play on platoon level it with the present graphics.

Show me the game with the graphics of Call of Duty which could function as a military simulator. I would buy it tomorrow.

It is entirely up to you how you play the game. RTS on the lowest setting and you don't need Intel. The fresh contact of private Jones doesn't get passed on higher up when he dies. To make the game into a tactical simulator is a challenge for the individual player. Just playing on Iron doesn't stop you from 'Borg Spotting'. Between turns or by not selecting any units when it plays. The AI has the situational awareness of an ant and that's why you need to playback numerous times. I spot as private Jones the HQ of the enemy 10 seconds before he dies. Nothing stops you as a player to order a Helicopter Strike on the HQ. The moment you do that the game stops being a tactical simulator and becomes a PC game. At least tomorrow I play on Hotseat with an individual who shares my views.

The computer is only capable of so much. Better graphics like Call of Duty compromises the integrity of the game. If a unit doesn't have a contact icon, we don't shoot at it. God's view I don't use unless I have air support in the game. Camera 3 depends on the location of the unit eg buildings elevated terrain. Tactical integrity depends on the users. If I know a game with the graphics of call of duty with the integrity as a tactical simulator, we will buy it. Replays doesn't compromise the integrity you must literally put yourself in the shoes of every individual. Private Jones spotted something. We need to know what transpired between Private Jones and his unit commander. So we know what the contact Icon is with the Company HQ 2 turns later. This game let you customize as you see fit. Happy gaming.

Your Most Frustrating Game in SF2?
chuckdyke replied to chuckdyke's topic in CM Shock Force 2 Maps and Mods
Recon is the tactic, and the snipers were the key. 1 Sniper was more effective than the Leopard 2. One AA Vehicle 7 Syrians the reason I didn't have a Total victory. Heavy shelling after he spotted the AA Vehicle. I took two out that way yes, the buildings the AA Vehicle was hiding behind changed into rubble. Thought that was permitted. Snipers share their intel with the C2 of their platoon the designated scouts are slower to share intel. The Leopard 2's were behind the snipers too, so they received their intel. Syrians had only Sagger ATGM's and recoilless rifles. Cost me one immobilized Marder. Thanks for the tip not to play as Syrian. If you don't destroy buildings, the attrition rate would be unacceptable in my view. I used the Leopards to mask the activities of my snipers. Checking the Leopards ammunition, it is not suitable for MOUT operations. This goes for most of the games in CM. The Marders were sufficient during the MOUT operations their best defense against ATGM's is their speed. -
