Just to put things in perspective a bit: According to "The Military Balance 2016" there were only 421 M777A1/A2 in service with the US Army and the reserves. The Marines had 501. Himars is a different story: 830 ATACMS capable M270(/A1)'s, and 375 M142's in the Army. Germany only had 99 Pzh 2000, with Italy coming runner up with 68. For Russia and Ukraine here are some numbers. Russia: MBT 2,700: 1,300 T-72B/BA; 600 T-72B3; 450 T-80BV/U; 350 T-90/T-90A; (17,500 in store: 2,800 T-55; 2,500 T-62; 2,000 T-64A/B; 7,000 T-72/T-72A/B; 3,000 T-80B/BV/U; 200 T-90) AIFV 5,400: 500 BMP-1; 3,000 BMP-2; 500 BMP-3; 700 BRM1K; 100 BTR-80A; 600 BTR-82A/AM; (8,500 in store: 7,000 BMP-1; 1,500 BMP-2) Ukraine: MBT 788: 710 T-64/T-64BV/BM; 70 T-72; 8 T-80BV; (10 T-84 Oplot; 150 T-80; 530 T-72; 640 T-64; 20 T-55 all in store) ARTY 1,862 SP 541+: 122mm 247 2S1; 152mm 288: 235 2S3; 18 2S5; 35 2S19; 203mm 6+ 2S7 (up to 90 in store)

Is Red Thunder secretly the best CMx2 WW2 game?
Artkin replied to Sunbather's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
Steam is definitely a little slower, and that's why I always play my official Battlefront copies. You definitely know what's up, I just remember being unable to play with a full MEU in real time mode on one of the H&E maps. My game was pretty locked up. But that map also had a ton of those older trees, so I guess they don't perform as well. I know BFC acknowledged trees and were looking for a solution for them not too long ago. How about Fortress Italy and then Cold War? Fortress Italy runs so slow in comparison as well -
Any negative to moving exhausted units?
Artkin replied to dkchapuis's topic in Combat Mission - General Discussion
Exhausted units are such drama queens I swear. Their accuracy shouldnt be affected. I have never noticed anything like that before -

that tree trunk appears to be moving on the right at like 1:13 before getting run over
-
Did that guy get ran over at 1:10?

The Orshanets series of maps from CMRT work really well in CMBS if you want to blow some crossing btgs up
-
True, but either way the btr made the effort to target the building in 4 locations where there were 4 things. I wasnt looking at tracers, but at where the impact points were. @KGBoy the btr engaged the windowd and doors, not the walls. It targetted 1 window, then the next, then the next, then it targetted the door.

Got it, thanks I use Pale Moon and it doesn't do that for me. Good browser.

It just seems everything was facing the opposite direction
-
A M1A2 company is 14 tanks, no? Thats nearly double
-
So the Ukrainians waited for them to cross before annihilating them? That's an incredible amount of destruction
-
Thanks for those graphics, they're pretty useful even outside of this conflict.

Bug? Quick battles - October 1944 Soviet Army no Infantry gun formations, but it is in specialist teams.

Been gone over a decade, what did I miss???
Artkin replied to Jussi Köhler's topic in Combat Mission - General Discussion
Here it is again, happening to my opponent this time. The closest troops I have to them are directly forward, and to the left of the screenshot. The fleeing germans ran left - into my firing line. Two HMG squads under small arms and mortar fire No more Germans. All gone. -
how do i download a new game
Artkin replied to Stephen K Smith's topic in Combat Mission - General Discussion
I wonder how you guys do that. Is that just a feature of opengl? You can "archive" some code which "extracts" into much larger amounts of data? Like - the files for the new content was "generated" instead of being uploaded. I don't know much of anything about code but I assume this is how it works. -
For sure, but the one minor inconvenience of running a laptop and playing CM is that CM loves high frequency CPUs. That AMD comes at 3.7Ghz. All of my chips are always ran somewhere around 5Ghz... It makes a substantial difference in fps. You don't buy a laptop intending to overclock it in the first place though. It will be very fast either way.

That pc for $1300 is a steal lol take it. For 32gb ram - my arma 3 will max my 16gb kit out right now. CM won't. On Arma 3 - it's nothing special unless you find your way to a good community like Global Operations, or 15th MEU if you prefer a more hardcore approach. If you don't find your way into a community - Arma 3 is a dead game.
