    Still working on this map and testing things out. Yes the tool is excellent. Takes a while to make adjustments on all of the terrain, buildings, and flavor objects though. Also I wish 18+ square KM maps didn't crash out of memory on my system after testing against the AI for a bunch of turns. I am really liking this opelkadet mod.

    Well I've managed to get the dgm2cm tool to work. 
    I can get satellite elevation data from anywhere in the world and apply it to CM now. 
    If anyone would like to know how to do this process then I can help you. It's actually super simple.

    Yes it works brilliantly. I just produced a huge 6400x2576 map and it is gorgeous.  I will need to go in and edit the buildings, fences and hedges, flavor objects, and many other details, but the basic map does get generated saving massive amounts of work.  It took about 4 hours to render the elevation and about 10 hours to render the rest over night. The only issue is maybe my xyz data was corrupted because the bottom of the generated map did not match the rest of the map and I had to trim it off by about 350 meters.  I will re-download the xyz data and try it again. I would post a photo but forum says I have no space. Excellent tool.

    Just mark the area you are interested in on the map and click "Einzelkachel (Info + Download)"

    Was hoping for some bones, but thanks for the news, good or bad the clarity is appreciated.. Speaking of clarity... when Slitherine said they put a stop to CM:Pro in October (?) I didn't expect them to mean April of 2023. They should have said "Putting a stop". This audience is not your typical gaming audience by any measure.
    I hope to see new items for the CMBS module. It's obvious that Ukraine and Russia deserve a thorough expansion and fleshing out before even getting to the airborne. Thankfully the air units dont seem to have nearly as much kit as the regular Russian army. Considering how long this has been withheld it would be nice to incorporate lessons from the current conflict. I'm not talking about drones, that doesn't really make the game interesting or fun. I hope to see armor fleshed out along with missing ends like the NSV. Surprisingly now I find merit using T-90M in my games considering that it's been deployed. It would be cool to see other goodies that belong.
    Engine 5 is anticipated, I have made a bunch of scenarios on the regiment level that could use a FPS boost. I hope it will be somewhat substantial, and I hope we will have access to larger maps. I don't understand why the Rad-full 2 map at 5.7 x 5.7km can exist but we can't push past 4 x 4 km in the editor. Stuff like that would be appreciated especially seeing how well CMCW takes these maps at great fps.
    I am also looking forward to patches tackling the various bugs that have come up. I understand you don't play these games anymore but we do, and there are issues that need attention. The Panzer III 50mm shorty in CMRT is absolutely horrible.
    I guess we won't expect anything before April.

    Would love to see Engine 5 and CMBS expanded, my favorite CM game for a while.  Mainly, I still want larger functioning maps, 6x6km or bigger?  Maybe more building, fence, and flavor object variety: cell towers, electrical structures, chain link and corrugated metal fences, a few civilian vehicles...  Maybe some kind of command post structure.  Any gfx improvements are welcome.  More rubble and debris and maybe a little more fire and smoke.  Ability for troops to ride on top of vehicles like other CM titles would be nice. In the editor it would be nice to have a way to import parts of different maps into other maps like one used to be able to do in the old days.  It is very difficult and time consuming to make a good huge maps completely from scratch.  Looking forward to that new CMBS module and curious about the professional version and what that may have that the general game doesn't.  More Russian rocket artillery?  MLRS?

    Certainly a fair question.  For CMBS I love Kieme's CMBS reworked USA faces mod - great mixture of diverse US troops.  I'll add that the CMCW US troops look good also.

    Yoooo can we get PCU and ECWCS for CMBS? I have a huge Wild Things collection.... In multicam and in Coyote.. all 7 layers of PCU.

    I told about fights on tactical level and not only Russians, but separs too. Neither Putin, nor Poroshenko didn't give orders to company commanders. Russian capability to sustain high casualties in modern warfare is mostly a myth. Despite Russian propaganda works on full, private Vanya in 1941 and private Vanya in 2021 is two different persons. Average modern Vanya have (or will have) comfort appartment, gadgets, social networks, TV, night club parties, girls, entertaiments,  trips to all-inclusive Egypt and Turkey. He has a lot to lose. Like all modern people in all countries. Because of the war now is more "remote", without Verden-type battles.
    In Aug 2014 near Dzerkalne Russian VDV - elite of their troops were shocked, when their half-platoon cought fire from UKR gun and lost own BMD. When they later were engaged by UKR recons, they just surrendered w/o fight - that was the same paratropers, "lost during maneuvers", which showed on TV. 
    When in Jan 2015 PMC Vagner detachment, where the "dogs of war" were mostly enlisted, in the force about two companies with tanks and light armor suddenly stumbled upon UKR platoon strongpoint, they withdrew after several their vehicles were hit, though they had full advantage in the force and could overran it.  
    Russians in this war fought tough, but when they encountered strong and organized resistance, they couldn't do much more. All determines with moral and motivation of personnel and quality of low- and mid-level commanders, if we speak about tactical level. 
    No, this is second battle for Georgiivka near Luhansk. When UKR troops assaulted Savur-Mohyla it defended by platoon-size separs forces. During one of assault attempt, their spotters set the wall of fire on the way of about two UKR battaliones, which advanced to assault. MLRS, several Russian batteres out of the border and mortar battery from nearby village forced UKR troops to make evasive maneuvers and partilly forced them to scatter. And again, both sides had only several killed, for several hours, but assault was foiled. 
    CM has a situative task - to win the one battle. But if you will have next tasks after this battle, like in real war, you will think about how you will complete its and with what forces. Because there is no relatively quick reinforcement for substitution of losses, like in WWII.

    The economy argument is poor, as it as a rule uses nominal GDP statistic, which, due to the weak ruble, does not represent the real size of Russian economy accurately. Same applies to military spending figures, CNA published a paper to that end, after they adjusted for PPP and imports Russia had ~1/4 of US spending (and greater than any of the Europeans), China had ~3/4.
    As to the regionality of Russian power - due to the Russian geographic position we have either direct influences in many of the key regions (Arctic, Europe, Middle East, Central Asia, Far East) and some indirect influence elsewhere (ie Russian operations in South America and Africa).
    So while Russia is not the deamon behind all world ills (we don't have the capacity or will to be that) it is still globally relevant, if weaker power.

    Not that I've discovered on my rig (water cooled i9-9990 @ 3.6Ghz, water cooled RTX-2080Ti, 32gb RAM, monster cache, dedicated .5tb system SSD, 2tb SSD, 4tb SATA), a 4km x 4km 'Delta' style map crashed CM:FI pretty promptly.....But it should run Cyberpunk 2077 nicely (eventually)!

    1. Larger Maps - say at least 6km x 10km or larger even though I know most computer systems cant handle that - some can like mine.  Needed for longer range engagements, recon, and modern weapons.  I prefer battalion level scenarios though I know that's not the express purpose of the game.
    2. Modern Warfare - Upgrade of CMBS [or] Integration of CMSF2 with Russians, upgraded equipment (with APS), and Euro Terrain.  Or a new CM modern warfare game altogether on Euro/Asian terrain.  What about Chinese?
    3. More dynamic fire and smoke graphics for burning vehicles, buildings, and terrain.
    4. Fuel levels and refueling.
    5. Troops riding on armored vehicles in Modern warfare.
    6. Greater ability to extend battles by importing previous battle outcome into a new battle on the same map.
