  1. God no. I'm with Gary Larson on this - accordions are the tools of the Devil.
  2. I'm still curious about that big one, second from the bottom right.
  3. Draft 2. Starting to achieve my "Flat" look. I like the simple vertical division between sections, using a 2-pixel gutter, with a single pixel gutter for horizontal divisions. There's a light-grey "header bar" for each section. I put it in to give some relief for the flat dark grey of the main body, and used the same grey for outline the unit weapon details sections. Not 100% certain about the header idea..might reduce it a pixel or two... The red of the support roster is just temporary. The support panel has been tidied up since this post, with the wepons details panel top edge now lining up with the "Point Target' button's top edge. Its not showing up in my screen shots, but the command buttons do have a full rollover-down light-lighter colour scheme. It's fully apparent in-game. I've finally killed off the support button butting up above the main ui top edge. Made the support icons larger and more interesting - the arty is a proper 155 SPG, the air is a SU-24 dropping bombs, the UAV's distinctive inverted tail fins are visible. Areas red-ringed are still WIP...
  4. I dunno, I'm always up for bloody hard battles. Give UKR a light, infantry screening force, essentially a tripwire. Give them ONLY UKR, but heavy, reinforcement, with some serious (but only late game) US Air. Give RUS about 8+ platoons of 155 and some air. Crack troops and tanks, and also some elite sniper/recon squads already across the river (as Spetsnaz). A full/ half battalion as reserve. That could be a hell of a game.
  5. Sedoku is a common from of suicide amongst the non-mathematically inclined.. .
  6. NOTEs: 1. This is a scenario, "First Clash", about 5 mins in 2. I haven't personally observed (granted,I haven't been paying attention) if the BMP-3M fires its ATGMs in quick battles. 3. I have not checked any other BMPs. Ukrainian BTR-4Es do fire their ATGMs, and very effectively too.
  7. Hi All, Who can id these man portable systems for me?
  8. It's not an ambush if you're in their frontal fire arc.. :-)
  9. I personally advance in unknown territory with a striking battalion on the march: 1 advance Mech Inf Co, with 2 platoons, 1 down. Engineers/sappers and ATGM as augmentation. 1-2 reinf Armor platoon 2 Mech Inf Co abreast behind, to outflank enemy defenses/attacks or counter enemy out flanking of my forward elements. Reserve Armor and MI platoons. These will be my ekite/crack Inf, for max effect. I scale this arrangement down to squad-platoon-MBT quite easily. It's not the most inventive, but it allows accordianing of my 2nd and 3rd lines in and out of contact, and protects flanks quite well. It's working against Abbasid - so far... But he's gone all squirrelly and hidden..
  10. Hezbollah had kornets, no? Markedly better than the primary UKR ATGM, as I understand it? How prevalent is Corsar in UKR service?
  11. Correct, yes I meant their repurposed/converted merkava (2s?). As you mention, absolutely yes, its a workable solution due to the short operational distance, part if the IDFs longterm ficus on attrition as opposed to maneuver war. I wonder, if they did suddenly have go switch to large scale maneuver, would they have a serious problem with mech Inf flexibility. Their current IFVs are very survivable, but perhaps less flexible. Contrast that with the older, current Russian IFVs that are flexible but brittle. I guess the Bradley hits a reasonable sweet spot?
  12. Tell that to the Israelis. They seem pretty happy with their merkavas with troop bays. Granted, those are very much urban oriented, but still.
  13. It would be nice to halve some mountainous terrain to fight in. The dnieper plain gets a little...plain...
  14. Or a **** load of ruskie Arty. And planes. If I MUST cross this River, then I'd demand some serious FS.
  15. Fraps is your best bet. It's a real pity re no replays, especially with such a tactical, accurate game.
  16. M1 kills with t 72, flank in shots mainly, I should clarify.
  17. Now I've seen it all. A T90 circle jerk ...
  18. I'm working on a new version of my minimalist interface, principally for the Game UI. This could probably be described as Modern, where v1 was minimalist. It stays a bit closer to the original (and for me, flawed) arrangement of the in game UI while staying still very simple, but less stark than version 1. I'm going for a smooth top surface with button recess and *maybe* some embossing. Ill probably recess stuff like the equipment, similar to how it is now, and "float" a lot of the soldier/unit info.
  19. Anecdotal note, as I did not record the game, but I just had a battle as UKR v. RUS. Oplot, elite, hit a T90A FOUR TIMES, at about 600m distance, same direction, within about 10mins. Front to front. T90 finally shot back, nailed it. I checked the T90A later, all four hits were either front glace or turret. Now, I know the 90 is a tough tank, but a sabot, 4000m/s round didn't go through like butter at 600m??! Whats the max close range for Era to stay effective? Because this blew my mind. I've taken out Abrams at that distance, with T72s.
  20. I know that map. Dunno if I'd call it huge, tbh. But it's great for a solid,no dicking around, urban knife fight. It has some excellent ambush positions, but once you play it you learn those points pretty quick. It can be repetitive in terms of what's possible.
  21. Going to try a light-heavy format with my next UKR game, using a heavy Arty and air presence with cheap infantry attacks - ie similar to the early stages of the war. My bro in law will be Russian, probably quite conventional, so it'll be interesting to see just how much damage I can do.
