Liveload got a reaction from Artkin in Tal Malah
This scenario is based upon reports I have seen regarding the ongoing battles around Tal Malah.
Feedback is appreciated. I had to drop the tactical image from the file, as it made it too big to upload. This is my first attempt at a fully fleshed out scenario from scratch. Hope you enjoy!
Respectfully,
LL

Everything will be just fine...the big wigs gamed out a corona virus pandemic about a month before the real one happened. I'm sure they're all well prepared...

Liveload reacted to Lethaface in CMSF2 Syrian BMP C2 / radio issue.
In the screenshots provided, the Platoon HQ does have radio c2 with the Company HQ in a bmp. However, the Platoon's BMPs do have a radio, but don't have c2 with the platoon HQ. I tried moving the bmp within LOS, but c2 was only established when close unbuttoned visual c2. I think this shouldn't be happening, not sure if this is known already.

This bug really affects the Syrians badly. Many of their units are handicapped by it. Spec Ops, Airborne, Republican Gaurds, etc. It's pretty much halted development of my campaign as almost anything I try to do ends up with broken radios.

Yeah, I just had a play about with it. Definitely something weird going on.

No, not at all. Some screenshots are obviously in order to explain this better.

Going to the Deploy forces screen from within the editor shows the HQ already in the BMP, radio icon visible.
2nd Squad - Radio Icon Visible
3rd Squad - Radio Icon Visible
HQ moved out of BMP to the ground nearby - Radio Icon Visible

It was Panther A Mid and I was surprised it happened. Been playing CMx2 games for years now, first time I saw it happen. It was very pleasing to see RICHOCHET INTO Opening!
But, to conclude this PBEM session. Remember that part where I said tank company XO took over command. Well this was the company CO, a certain Captain Grammont. 😉
He died heroically, engaging enemy Panthers and buying time for M10's to take positions.
@Battlefront.com Sorry man! I tried my best... 😄

Yet another PBEM concluded.
I played as the US Army. My opponent decided to experiment with his armor, hence the lopsided results. My reaction was simple: Nyet, comrade. This is how you use armor.
Technically, I lost one and a half tank, cause one of my M 10 was penetrated by a Panther. These are the results.
Here are some more images.
This Panther was bogged down by harsh terrain, the crew was bailed out by an M 10 shot to the commanders cupola. Subsequently, it was engaged several more times, all ricochets, until one bounced from the turret armor right into the radio operator/machine-gunners opening. For good measure, another round was put into it, partially penetrating the turret.
This Panther was destroyed in an attempted flank charge (best I can gather from what I could see). Lower front hull penetration, followed by a partial penetration of the turret.
None of my units really stands out in unit kill count, it was a combined effort after all. But, my tank company XO is worth mentioning. Destroyed a tank, killed some infatry, took over command in the middle of the battle after the CO was killed. (in the background a destroyed Panzer IV)
Some images of clusters of destroyed enemy infantry.
Even the enemy KomBat was heavily wounded.
It is no surprise, cause this is the group that awaited and engaged them.
Crossing the street was also very dangerous.

Liveload got a reaction from JulianJ in Al Hawl Scenario a bit unbalanced
Very nice! I was hoping to make it more fun to play as Blue vs AI, sounds like we're on track! I plan on buffing the scenario a little more based on the feedback I've gotten thus far, as well.

Liveload reacted to JulianJ in Al Hawl Scenario a bit unbalanced
I just played the Al Hawl scenario - I was the US Forces.
It was a complete walkover and towards the end I was rather bored. So many Javelins.
I think it wouldn't be very good to play as H2H as whoever has the Syrians is in for a pasting.
What I did was race to good positions in the town at or overlooking the objectives then let the Red Side attack my fist with their faces. 🙂
What would improve it would be: reduce the number of Javelins the US forces have (I was even giving them to my platoon commanders, let the useless Ruperts do something for a change!). Remove the US air support, and allow the Syrians some artillery/mortars. That would make it harder for me to just occupy buildings and wait for something to come in range. I think the Syrians don't even have enough infantry as the americans outnumber them and are high quality troops.
Without so many Javelins it might necessitate trying to stalk the enemy armour at close range with AT4s: that would be more interesting and problematical. My troops fired off quite a few of these, and failed to knock anything out, so IMO this needs to be up close and fired at flanks or rear.

Liveload reacted to JulianJ in Al Hawl Scenario a bit unbalanced
Hi all,
@Liveloadhas reworked the scenario. I haven't played it all the way through but I just wanted to give it the thumbs up so far. I've had several nasty surprises! Not a cakewalk by any means.
LL's remix is here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/uozlq764am6vqw0/Al Hawl SF2 - Liveload Remix.btt?dl=0
I will do a proper review when I have finished but unfortunately due to RL events that may not be for a while.

Some screenshots from @Liveload @Aurelius revised Kabani scenario:
The hilly landscape provides not only nice scenery, but interesting tactical options as well Ideal terrain for the provided T-90SA and T-72 Turms-Ts, although enemy ATGM especially can ruin the party:
Recon:
Moving to firing positions
Ready to dominate:
Assault force moving up:
House to house fighting

Liveload got a reaction from Lethaface in 15cm Syrian Off Map Arty
Hi all,
As I've been working on creating my campaign, there's been a lot of testing going on to see what does and doesn't work. We ran into issues with Syrian heavy artillery and the over pressure it generates. Specifically, the M46 (which is the heaviest piece) does not have enough to trigger mines, so the SAA can only clear minefields with sappers (unless you give them US/NATO 15.5cm). Also the M46 doesn't have enough knockdown power to take down walls very efficiently.
I though these reasons would be decent ones to make a thread asking BFC to look into maybe adding 152mm as off map assets for the Syrians. The 2S3 would work since they had them in 2008 and they're still being used. I think CM:BS has later versions of the 2S3 modeled as off map assets. Would that not make it a super simple addition to SF2? Add it to the UK pack and I can guarantee at least two sales 😂.
Respectfully,
LL
PS, I'll update my Tal Malah thread soon with more stuff...I've been busy working away at it 😁

I enjoyed the initial version, it was properly hectic!
Happy to help out with testing of updated versions if you need another hand.....I'm kind of fond of MOUT battles.

Thanks guys! I really appreciate the support. 🙂
I've learned a lot since I laid the first tile down on Tal Malah. All of my maps are going to reflect this in the campaign, and stand alone once the campaign is done. Here's an in-progress shot from the west side of Kafr Nabudah in the meantime:
