Sure seems like this is the story we hear with each update on this patch...
    - Its more work than we expected
    - OOBs are hard
    - We keep finding stuff in testing
I'm really not sure what to think.  I go away for a while, play other games, come back and see what's going on...not much  I want the freaking patch done so we can start hoping on new modules.  Alas, I suspect we might be years away from modules for some games.  If I had a vote, which I don't, I'd say scrap everything after the patch and start CM3.

😂😂 😂😂 Be funny if it was not all so disappointing and unnecessary though Michael, i can't think of another active game developer, that i follow,  that treats its loyal customers with such disdain, its really saddening and so easily solvable.

I am now, to be honest, getting tad dispirited and impatient for the patches or news about their progress.

Your argument is less convincing when you subvert it in the sentence that follows immediately after. Artillery and somewhat realistic reactions to its fire have to be considered pretty core components of a game centered around military tactics. So there are in fact bugs that, more or less, break the game for those who are inclined towards playing it in a certain way intended by the developer.
But as said, I don't particularly care about the bugs themselves. In part because I don't even own the games that are affected by them*. Hell, if they'd been clearly labeled on the tin, I might've bought the CMFI bundle already. Sadly they aren't and my only saving grace from unexpected frustration was stumbling into this thread and asking what ailed the game. The general lack of transparency is, simply put, very offputting to me as a prospective customer. It seems to me like the kind of aloof attitude that not even AAA developers can very well afford these days.
I eagerly await the patches and for a few months to pass after their arrival. With this thread as a reference, it seems unwise to be sinking my claw-like toenails deeper into the product catalog much sooner than that.

(*Though I guess I've noticed some fairly minor wriggles in AI response to fire in CMSF:2. Like Canadians running away from the impact of their own LAW:s)

I dabbled in some uniform editing around the time I did my take on 'Snowy Uniforms' for CMFB. Before tackling snow I tried first to create 'muddy' uniforms and the .psd file I created was turning out some great results IMO. I never tried rain/wet effects though have thought about it.
What killed the 'muddy' uniforms idea was that the modtag [muddy] is hardcoded into the game but appears to only work for vehicle textures/models. It had no effect on infantry. Given weather specific mods like these you want it to be applied across the board based on what weather/ground conditions existing scenario files rather than the game looking for a specific modtag. Players aren't going to go through and manually apply the modtag to every scenario themselves. So there is little you could do as an outside modder. It would probably be the same with 'wet' effects like this, reliant on a lot of manual mod tagging of existing scenarios.
If BFC hardcoded in 'Muddy' and 'Rain' / 'Wet' modtags into the games similar to what they did with snow then the modders could be set loose to provide textures and alphas safe in knowing their work will actually show up in the game at the appropiate time.

I don't remember it being officially answered. And I don't think it's sufficient as is. I was under the impression that little fizzle we get for a minute or so was the precursor to them adding the full effect into the game (WAY back when). If you want a middle-ground compromise keep the effect we have now and give it a percentage chance of getting bigger depending on weather/ground conditions and quarantine it to the tile it starts in. There are plenty of solutions that could be made to combat the worn out argument that every player just wants to burn the map to the ground. I've always found that argument to be a cop out. The flame is there, they gave it a length of time, extend the length, extend the size, that would be enough for immersion. And don't anybody come at me with it not being visually realistic etc. because we still got guys that disappear into thin air when they are shot on/in vehicles, tires that don't role on AT guns, tanks that drive through each other, etc. so I think we can get away with bigger fire sticking to one tile.

Another view is to flip this around and ask why wouldn't they have been working on the patch this whole time?
It's been 2 years and 3 months now since they broke some pretty fundamental parts of their own game -- broken to the point that many people can barely enjoy the typical stock scenario. And not just one title broken, but all of them.
When the issues with v4 were first brought to light, I would have never believed that it'd still be almost literally years before we saw them fixed.
Perhaps Battlefront needs to start actually paying more testers and content creators, in order to get things moving along, instead of relying on the generosity of so many volunteers?
I've defended Battlefront and heaped praise on the game many times over the past 4 to 5 years, but at some point a customer's patience and good will just gets used up.
"Niche market" is no excuse for a fix to the underlying game engine to have taken this long.
