  1. Without Mad Addy's "ideals" that force would never have existed. And which worthy tasks did you have in mind? Driving Musso out of Ethiopia in the service of the League of Nations? Defending China from Japanese invasion? Being offered to the Republic of Spain in it's hour of need?
  2. Hahaha.... I blame the poor spelling on my being distracted by the sinful pagan sport of football, and someone slipping Roman Catholic Trappist Ale into my goblet of puritan water.
  3. The typist of the previous post has been beheaded following a fair trail held before Parilament . It should have of course read "anything but invade Russia."
  4. Given the fact that mad Addy was hell bent on lebensraum he would have Given mad Addy's addiction to lebensraum he couldn't do anything but Russia. I've always felt that Germany lost the war the day they staged a victory parade in Berlin just after the fall of France. In the meantime mate, given recent events here in Limeyland keep an eye out for bedraggled emigres speaking a strange version of English washing up on the shores of Cape Cod.
  5. Just to update you mate. The BBC will being broadcasting extensive live coverage of the centenary events. Beginning on the evening of June 30th when vigils will be held both in Westminster and on The Somme itself. And then from early morning on July 1st all through the day.
  6. No problem mate... Given last week's murder of a Member of Parliament by a Neo-Nazi I think maybe any preparations for July 1st have not made the news this week. There were some ceremonies and TV documentaries about the Battle of Jutland, so I'm sure the Somme will be marked as well.
  7. No, we don't wind up for July 1st. The poppy is traditionally only worn around November 11th. Although in some towns and cities there are wreath laying ceremonies at other times of the year if a local regiment suffered particularly heavy casualties.
  8. Including the black and white pictures was a really nice touch.
  9. Depending on which camera angle I am using I often hear the "Ja!" before I see the "Penetration" on screen.
  10. The mods were available in the old repository. I'm not sure if they have been transferred to greenasjade. You get the Divisional Insignia for their vehicles, and shoulder flashes for both of the Infantry Regiments.
  11. it is a tough mission agreed. I've taken it on twice, the first time I scored a "Tactical Victory", whilst on my second attempt I managed a "Draw". I'm not sure why I didn't perform so well second time around. There is a video of this mission on youtube floating around, the maker secured a "Minor Victory". You might want to take a peek at it sometime.
  12. No one in their right mind would deny that rapes took place during WW2, or any other conflict for that matter. But that movie is about what happened to the people in that bunker. Therefore there is no reason to include rape scenes in the movie. And you have no evidence whatsoever to accuse Traudl Junge of being a liar. In fact it is an insult to her memory, and to the real victims of rape.
  13. I remember in CMBN in one of the British battles their Jeeps carried US small arms spare ammo. I'm not quite sure how it happened, perhaps the designer wasn't even aware of it, but I was a tad annoyed.
  14. I agree that the modders are already producing some great winter scenarios. The only things that let down a campaign like "The Last Panzer" which is set in eastern Germany in late winter/early spring '45, are the Russian shops and the onion domed churches.
  15. Part of the trouble with 2nd Pz is that their tanks were sometimes put under the command of other divisions e.g 12SS and Panzer Lehr. I think that they first saw action against the British on June 27th, although I am happy to be corrected on that if I'm wrong. 2nd Pz then remained in action against 2nd Army until almost the end of July before being shifted westwards.
  16. Not being able to re-organize our forces between missions is the one drawback in the current "core-unit" campaign system. But, short of a new game engine I don't see how it can be changed.
  17. BFC have stated in the past, that their plans for the Eastern Front are to take the game up to Berlin. Although there has been much "wish list" talk about the early years in the East, I wouldn't hold your breath on it if I was you. Of course, i'd love to be wrong.
  18. And there was me thinking that it was cockney rhyming slang... Oh well, you live and learn.
  19. I'm not sure. But, I think that this may have been fixed in the patch.
  20. Meanwhile in the rest of the Limey Army. Taffy is bending down to pull up some leeks. And Paddy is (feels tap of granddad's ghostly finger on my shoulder) shouting " ~#'%##£$% ~'@~##%%&% ing English Officers trying to get us all killed again".
  21. Oh, no! Don't say that. Someone will fire off an angry post to Steve and the boys along the lines of.... "How come in Warts 'n' all's copy of the game the Limey troops can eat sprouts, when they can't in the copy I've got?" Of course, you're right about the animation. It is similar to they way we see the hands of MMG and HMG crew hovering just above the trigger.
