  1. Gents, is there a winter horizon mod for CMRT? I thought, that I saw it mentioned somewhere once, but don‘t find it in the mod depot.
  2. Then my insistence helped at least a little. Forget my previous question. I managed to activate all modules. Seems all is good now. Next question: How do I explain the bleary eyes to my boss tomorrow? But we‘ll cross that bridge when we get there… !-)
  3. Hi John, worked so far. Mods, scenario and campaigns collections are copied to Steam. But though I used my "Big Bundle Update" serial number to get my Steam key, it seems that Steam did not install the various modules. Do I have to get individual Steam keys for all of them? Sorry for question, but it´s too late for me to try tonight...
  4. Ahhh, you believe I would have read to page 30…. Thanks, John. Helpful as always! I‘ll give it a try later tonight.
  5. That all worked well and the Steam version is installed, too. But how do I copy my mods, scenarios and saved games from the BFC version to Steam? Or play PBEM++ with the 4.04 BFC version? @BFCElvis?
  6. Maybe I am too much old school, but what‘s the problem? We „old“ guys had to muddle through many iterations of CM and managed to love the game. Plus, on a higher level: Is that not like real life? There is no „real life manual”. Try and error is a valid strategy. Different to RL, in a game it does not really matter if you fail. Hmmm, thinking further: It may even be a valuable experience to carry back from gaming to RL…
  7. Hi Stephane Thanks for the clarification. But don’t waste too much of your time on that.I just wondered about this Spiegel article, which is quite misleading. Well, more than that, outright wrong. It says “the Germans surrendered (or better „gave up“ or „left behind“) 15 Tigers, from which the French formed one complete unit….“ That did sound quite unbelievable to me.
  8. Hi Stephane Ah, so you mean the story with the 15 Tigers at St Nazaire is probably true? Interesting. I never heard about that.
  9. Linked is a story of the German magazine Der Spiegel about a repaired Tiger, which shall be displayed in the column of the next Liberation Parade in Paris. So far so good. But the paper also speaks about a unit, probably company, of captured Tigers, which was used by French forces during the liberation of St Nazaire. I never heard about such a tale. Did anybody else? @Falaise ??? https://www.spiegel.de/ausland/restaurierter-wehrmachtspanzer-soll-bei-franzoesischer-befreiungsparade-mitfahren-a-15d9a6b8-b383-42d6-8da8-811ca1e39fb8
  10. Ooops, I hope we did not forget to recommend the excellent Aris‘ mods to you. Otherwise: Thanks for the kind words.
  11. Then I would, indeed, go for the modules and “Scenario Depot” scenarios (AND mod’s! Those do add a lot to the game) first and leave VP and BP for later. BN plus modules and user made scenarios should keep you busy for a long time…
  12. 1) Yes. The VP came out after CMBN and the various modules. So, all new vehicles. 2) Yep, correct. 3) Yep, the CMBN base game includes only US and German forces. One other thought, since I don’t know where you stand purchase wise: If you did not buy the base game yet, rather buy the big bundle and leave the VP and Battle Pack for later.
  13. Yep, sure. I remember, i once mentioned the idea that even some early war scenarios could be created with the R35. Which should be good fun scenario creators. I was just saying, that questions like „Is it worth it?“ cannot be answered. The answer depends too much on people’s personal preferences. Thst I find something worthwhile, does not mean the next person feels the same.
  14. Worth it? Difficult question. The answer depends on too many hard and soft factors. Like „How important are 20 Dollars for you?“ The VP does not add too many new vehicles or items and there is unfortunately not too much user made content available. A handful of scenarios using the VP at best. On the other hand: It is great fun to see e.g. the „flail Sherman“ in action. Is it worth the few Dollars? I concluded for myself: Yes. But it’s yours to decide for yourself.
  15. I thought, I understand, but yet another question: How does it wok in praxis to play PBEM++ with the BFC version, say from outside Steam? Or do I still need to have my game registered with a Steam key and log in to Steam?
  16. @BFCElvis Stupid question: Do I need to play the Steam version with Steam key and all to use PBEM++, or can I play with the „standard BFC“ CMBN and this patch with oppo‘s who run CBMN on Steam?
  17. Hm, that should not be necessary. I would be surprised, if BFC would not be able and willing to give you access to your account and purchased game serial numbers. Ever considered to ask @BFCElvis ?
  18. As a general comment: I have the impression, the Forum lost substantially, due the loss of some old hands. But probably that’s just an overdue generation change.
  19. Sad news, indeed. I remember him as an always friendly and helpful guy. An exchange with him about SciFi-books really enriched my „reading life“.
  20. Gents, yesterday I saw in the news a short clip, where a Panzerhaubitze 2000 fired (in a certain “special military operation) with the turret turned aft. Is that SOP? I have never seen it before, but technically it seems to make sense to use the weight of the tank as “shock absorber”.
  21. Yep, just for the fun of it, I installed and fired up CMAK some months ago. But, indeed, not only the looks, also the game play is miles away from the current CM family. However, are you aware that @kohlenklau created some brilliant NA scenarios and mods? Based on Fortress Italy, if I am not mistaken.
  22. Yeah, indeed. The bad news is: There will certainly not be a one to one replacement of the old titles (I loved them, too). The good news is: A lot of the content has been covered in the existing CMx2 series, plus variousvmods recreating CMx1 theaters. E.g., if you like strange vehicles and thin armour, try the CMFI demo. But be aware: The look is quite different to the old games and the learning curve is steep. However, if you manage to digest the differences and to cope with some frustration, you will experience hundreds of satisfying gaming hours.
  23. Play the demos. They should give you a good impression about the looks and equipment for each game. Plus, you will see whether you like the games at all. I would assume you do, but one never knows. I, for example, had been quite happy with CMBN at the time. When CMSF came out, I was quite excited. But after playing the demo, I quickly found: Nope, not for me.
  24. Three dimensions? Like length, width and height? Does not sound too spectacular. I do that each time, when I look at a map with contour lines.
