  1. Good to see that ChatGPT is not (yet) very helpful, when it comes to being creative….
  2. „Gebirgsjäger Vorwärts“ definitively sounds good. Just strike out the „s“ at the end. Unlike „Hunter“, „Jäger“ has no specific plural in German. It‘s one Jäger or two Jäger or many Jäger….
  3. „Zäh wie Leder…“ just came to my mind. Though the origin is quite questionable…
  4. Hm, good question. „Gung ho“ translates indeed to something like „wild entschlossen“ or „übereifrig“. But that‘s useless as a scenario title. @Paper Tiger What do you want to express with your title? Are you looking for some kind of „unit motto“? I understand „Gung ho“ is very much a USMC typical phrase. Otherwise, offhand I would recommend something like „Vorwärts“ or „Attacke“ or „Zum Angriff“. BTW, in our context, I would translate „Vorwärts“ with „Advance!“
  5. How did a gaming friend in board game times say: Why seek the flanks, when you can break through the center? More seriously: - Somebody has to be in the center and cannot always remain passive. - Scale and perception: Performing a frontal attack in CM, does not mean that you are not part of a flanking attack in the larger picture. - Being in a frontal attack mission does not stop you from seeking the „local flank“.
  6. Yep, I always wonder if it is only wishful thinking, but as long as I feel it helps… Interesting , only today I watched a documentary about the impact of tokens on people performance. Statistically it seems to help, if you believe some token supports you.
  7. BF will most certainly not get involved in fixing building models. My suggestions would be: - post your question in the CMBN mod forum. - ask the scenario designer for help. You should find his name in the briefing. - try contact one of the building Modders directly and ask for help. Kieme comes to my mind, but search on the FGM site, for building mods and find out who the modders are. You most probably find the guys here, too. Otherwise: @BFCElvis or @kohlenklau may be able to provide more assistance. Cheers and good luck.
  8. That’s about the idea, which I had: Just give the AI a different context to come to a different solution. E.g., though some people would strongly disagree, I have the impression if a vehicle is bogged, it helps to give a “reverse” order, to get it free again.
  9. That‘s an issue of „scenario design carefulness“. I had it a few times, too, that I thought my guys would just need to dash across a street and take cover in the next building. Instead, they run down a narrow street, turn at the next corner, run back through gardens and enter the building through a back door. If still alive to do so… I am not a Designer or Modder, but the buildings consist of an „internal structure“ and the skin, which you see in the game. I.e., if you see a door in the skin, it does not necessarily mean, that there is one in the structure, too. I have the impression, sometimes designers do by purpose not provide a door in the structure. E.g. to simulate a closed door, which cannot be easily broken. In other cases, it seems, that such is just a design glitch. As so often in CM: That’s life, not everything is predictable. Sorry, to answer your question: You would have to change the building model and use a wall with openings, instead of a solid one.
  10. Did you try to move the HT a few meters back? Perhaps, that triggers the AI to „re-consider” the threat level and free the guy for other tasks.
  11. Sounds stupid enough, but I too thought about a manning issue. What’s the crew of your HT, without the HQ guys?
  12. Good point. An explosion which remains stationary for an hour may look a little odd. But why not try it? It’s not like we would be watching it all the time.
  13. Sorry, saw this too late. Yep, something like this could work very well.
  14. Sounds good and like you already put some thought in it. Probably more than I did. I just fired off some ideas that came to my mind. I’ll be happy to see your first results.
  15. Hmmmm, some general ideas: More adaptability. Horizons adapted to the context. Lush green fields are quite off for Battle of Berlin scenarios, as well as most FB scenarios. The “burning cities” were more meant as a joke, referring to “Fire and Rubble”. I doubt there were many battles actually near burning cities. Not too much detail. Usually, the horizon is quite far away in any case. A dog fight in the air would probably be just to black pixels. The burning convoy a black smear. Brings me back to bullet point one: Adapted to the scenario size may be worth to consider. I dare say, in most platoon, company sized scenarios, the horizon may be quite close. Just behind the barrel of the rifle…. In battalion sized scenarios it probably should be farther away. Which results in: Link horizons to the current zoom factor?
  16. Interesting ideas. I never really thought about the horizons. But indeed, there would a lot of room for more variety. I‘d say, especially CW cries for it. Though city skylines (damaged or not) would not hurt in the other games either.
  17. Thanks for coming back on that. Yep, the horizon mods for BN, FI and CW work without an issue. Same with @Falaise brilliant environment mod. Though I admit, I am using @Lucky Strike… Re other, more specific horizons: Perfect! Let them come. Just some thoughts re city horizons: First of all, the time frame: Show intact cities, or fire, or rubble? Second: Clear or hazy? I once had a short exchange re the CW horizons, which seem to be too hazy for me. I love the crystal clear BN horizons, but had to learn, that some prefer it more hazy. May be ok for the long distance, but in cities, I would prefer them clearer. What makes it more difficult to match the time frame.
  18. Hi Phil, if those are all of your faults, you are excused. I tried quickly: This version of your horizons works perfectly. Not only with Rites, but also with some other „winter scenarios“ which I tried. Well, I still lost my PBEM battle of Rites very badly (some say devastatingly), but I now believe this really is my fault. Re your „Goodies“: You may want to shuffle that stuff over to Bootie’s FGM. Thanks, mate.
  19. Thx, Phil. Strange enough, that I start to wonder now. Probably my recent PBEM of Rites of Spring was so frustrating, that I needed some excuse for my distraction.
  20. Thanks, Jacob. I’ll play with it little and let you guys know, if I find anything. Strange enough, that I worry about winter horizons now that summer finally arrived…
  21. @JM Stuff Hi Jacob, I finally tried the winter horizons in a game (CMRT Rites of Spring), and another one playing in Jan 45, but did not manage to see the winter horizons. Do they work with mod-tagged scenarios only? In support, I downloaded from FGM and installed the @kohlenklau winter mod. But that did not help much. Plus the version I found includes only some vehicle mods. Any ideas?
  22. Thanks, mate. I grabbed them already, but haven´t installed them yet. They are looking good so far, certainly better than my summer horizon behind snowy fields...
  23. Gents, is there a winter horizon mod for CMRT? I thought, that I saw it mentioned somewhere once, but don‘t find it in the mod depot.
  24. Then my insistence helped at least a little. Forget my previous question. I managed to activate all modules. Seems all is good now. Next question: How do I explain the bleary eyes to my boss tomorrow? But we‘ll cross that bridge when we get there… !-)
  25. Hi John, worked so far. Mods, scenario and campaigns collections are copied to Steam. But though I used my "Big Bundle Update" serial number to get my Steam key, it seems that Steam did not install the various modules. Do I have to get individual Steam keys for all of them? Sorry for question, but it´s too late for me to try tonight...
