  1. Not quite, I am afraid. But I use this „educational“ argument, too, when I explain why I play war games to others.
  2. Nice idea. E.g., Korea has been proposed many times. Spanish Civil War and Middle East Wars should be good topics, too, but it obviously is a question of sales prospects vs resources for BFC. In general: CM is a very much tank focussed game system. As all systems, it works best in the environment for which it is designed. So, CM is probably not very useful for a „pre-tank” time frame. Imagine a 1960’s garage trying to repair your brand new Ferrari. They would probably not be very successful.
  3. Hm, trying to incorporate the Moskva in the next BS module?
  4. Unfortunately only in the first 15 minutes or so. Compared to the beginning, I was disappointed by the rest. I remember some harsh discussions back then, when I dared to utter that criticism….
  5. Yup, I‘ll try to sort the pic‘s and load the to the Dropbox next weekend.
  6. Yep, Brittany was pretty good, too. The country side not exactly as we expected, the temperatures could have been a little higher, but all in all: Pretty good. I was surprised, how much WW2 relicts are left. Like bunkers on the beaches or forts in the cliffs. And we have not even been in Brest or St Nazaire. Next time we‘ll have to visit the ships cemetery near Brest: https://goo.gl/maps/FnGkPPLrCB9in6eH8
  7. “Happy” may be a wrong word here, but otherwise, yes. I‘ll upload a collection to my Dropbox and PM a link to you. However, as so often: Photos alone just don‘t convey enough. Most impressive were Stephane’s explanations and comments, which really brought the slaughter alive. Without them, the pic‘s just show the nice rural countryside, which the battlefield nowadays is.
  8. @Falaise: Hi Stephane, once again: Thanks for taking me around at Mont Ormel. That was a great day and very much appreciated, indeed!
  9. And it will be even better, when we go to Normandy in May.
  10. Many guys already said so: „Try the Demos!“ before you jump at the games. The demos are not really up to date, but (not knowing CMx2) you won‘t notice the difference to the latest version. CMx2 is indeed quite different from CMx1 and you will have to face quite a steep learning curve. But if you manage the transition, a „whole new world“ awaits you. And, trust us, it is manageable. I started with CMBO back in 1999, too, almost gave up after the first CMSF demo, but I am still here, playing all the WW2 titles, plus a little CM Cold War.
  11. I have never seen or heard anything like this. Very rarely I have PBEM issues and those can normally be solved by back-tracking and starting over from the last working file. That said, it is probably the best advice to contact the usually very helpful BFC customer service by calling @BFCElvis
  12. Perfect! Enough space for my long question. Thanks for replying so quickly!
  13. Hi @Falaise I tried to PM you, but received the message that “you can’t receive messages”. When you read this, please drop me a line. Thx and cheers!
  14. You are welcome! The biggest issue was to find a working streaming site and get a halfways decent screen shot.
  15. @chuckdyke and @Sgt.Squarehead It took a while, but finally! Yep, Chuck´s guess was right. My screen pic´ is not very clear, but telling from the "luggage compartments", what I noted really was an AMX. It looks surprisingly similar to the Wasp, though.
  16. Hmmmm, but it works on my iPhone. Ok, something to watch tomorrow night.
  17. Good idea. Tried that yesterday already with little luck. I am using Norton VPN and set it to location Germany, but I am still blocked.
  18. @chuckdyke and @Sgt.Squarehead: Seems I have to wait until I am in Germany next time. They won‘t let me stream the docu from Switzerland. In case anybody want to try: The Wasp (?) appeared in NTV‘s „Wir sind Geschichte“ Season 1, Part 3 „Der Nahostkonflikt“ somewhere in the last 10 minutes or so.
  19. Yep, I read that in a magazine, too. Sounds pretty optimistic to me and like somebody just wanted to release a new paper for his reference list. All ideas not essentially wrong, but given his 6 month time frame not very realistic ideas either. Unless anybody intends to start building „anti asteroid missiles“ and impenetrable deep sea bunkers tomorrow. Which I strongly doubt.
  20. Thanks, guys. Your input helped a lot! I guess, I‘ll keep my fingers of TS, as I never really came into playing Vassal and this sounds too similar.
  21. I.e., like VASSAL, the different modules have no „in-built“ rule set, but to play you still need to get a copy of the game rules elsewhere?
  22. Does anybody know, what exactly the Tabletop Simulator is? What is the difference to Vassal? On a quick first glance, I have seen some interesting modules, like „Fulda Gap“, which might be a good operational overlay for CMCW.
  23. That one could be. I can‘t remember the gun shield, but otherwise it comes close. I‘ll try to find the docu in the Mediathek of the TV station and take a screen shot.
  24. Looking at the pic’s: Yep, sure. Especially the long barrel of the AMX 13 rules it out. Plus, the docu showed a battery firing as artillery, which is not an AMX 13 job. But you are right. On those pic‘s the two look quite similar.
