  1. Using the works of several authors, especially @kohlenklau and my own modifications I am preparing my vision of Barbarossa. There are excellent equivalents of the Panzer III and IV, but no early StuG. @kohlenklau has proposed 2 versions of this vehicle: - the same armed as the original but hopelessly poorly armoured on a carrier base - as armoured as the original, but armed with a long-barrelled 75mm cannon with completely different ballistics and much too good anti-tank parameters, based on the StuG G. I think a good equivalent of the early StuG would be... StuH! The ballistic characteristics of the 105mm howitzer are very similar to the short-barreled 75mm cannon, which really was also a howitzer. The StuH has only 2 anti-tank cumulative shells but the power of the demolition shell is enough to destroy the T34 with a bit of luck - exactly like the early short StuG equipped with more anti-tank shells. The effect of the 105mm shell on infantry and buildings is about 2 times more powerful than the 75mm but the 75mm cannon is about 2 times more rapid firing which somehow compensates. I did a simple test of 10 T34 vs 10 StuH at 500m. Result 4 T34s destroyed at a loss of 1 StuH. I think the original early StuG with a short barreled 75mm cannon and dedicated anti-tank shells and good armour with good shape would have achieved a similar result. Using a carrier, this is completely impossible because the carriers will be destroyed outright. On the other hand, when using the long-barrelled StuG as a replacement, the T34s are practically completely annihilated, which is unrealistic when using the short-barrelled StuG. This means that ... StuH is perfect I impatiently and with great hope await the official release of a @kohlenklau hybrid simulating the T26! I think so, combining the IS1 hull with the T34/76 early turret would give a KV1-like vehicle. The IS1 could also remain as a host. The 85mm cannon is better than the 76.2mm but the vehicles on the German side are also slightly better armoured than their 1941 counterparts. Even better would be the turret of the Staghound armoured car! The shape resembles the KV turret really well! It would only need to be slightly enlarged in all directions and a longer barrel with a larger diameter added. It is very difficult to find organ donors for the BT7. The closest shape to the chassis is the Crusader AA from CMBN and the turret from the last Stuart version. Unfortunately the chassis has 5 wheels and the BT7 had 4. You can get by with that or try to remove one wheel.
  2. @kohlenklau It's perfect!!! The turret will also fit the BT5. I will look around for the chassis. I wonder if it is possible to use the Hetzer chassis to build the PZ.38.
  3. @Sgt.Squarehead This is a well-known mathematical problem. The solution is also perfectly known. civdiv is right although intuition suggests otherwise. But strict probability calculus is absolute. Don't forget that the knowledge of the person opening the curtains and knowing from the beginning what is behind each curtain also comes into play. This person opens one of them because he knows beforehand that it is empty.
  4. @kohlenklau Wonderful! You are Einstein of CM Blender modding!!! I think it will be very simple to develop bitmaps for this hybrid model. The chassis and hull from Semovente and the turret from Humber. I am already obliging myself to prepare a Finnish mod! By the way, I have a proposal for a simple but important enhancement of CMSF2 and the Afghan mod for this game. Well, the Afghan army (which no longer exists) got a lot of M1117 Guardian Armored Security Vehicle from the Americans. This vehicle does not exist in CMSF2. But there is a BRDM, very similar in terms of armament, off-road properties, etc. In turn, in CMBS there is the M1200 Armored Knight, which has the same hull as the M1117 but a different turret. In contrast, the turret you need is in CMSF2 in the AAV-7A1 amphibious vehicle. I think combining the M1200 hull from CMBS with the AAV-7A1 turret from CMSF2 in Blender will not be difficult. Subsequent conversion of 3d BRDM model to such hybrid is already trivial. And it will be an excellent enhancement of the game. The vehicle thus obtained can also be used in CMBS instead of Ukrainian BRDMs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afghan_National_Army#/media/File:130513-M-RO295-205.jpg
  5. @kohlenklau Chassis and part of the hull from the Italian Semovente 75/18 (CMFI). Turret - Humber IV armoured car (CMFI) If only hull - maybe Stuart III The hybrid will be very good also for polish 7TP tank and finnish Vickers
  6. @kohlenklauCould you send me the bitmaps? Maybe I could try to get a little dirty
  7. @kohlenklau super idea! super system of points!
  8. @kohlenklau I was thinking the same thing. Combining a magazine from a ppsh with everything else from an Italian beretta would already give a satisfactory effect.
  9. @kohlenklau We can see birch logs but where are the beautiful Finnish girls???
  10. Sotka is ready to use https://www.dropbox.com/s/rbod6boqjt2flhc/t-34 m1942 early [finn].zip?dl=0 https://imgur.com/gallery/cBkL4zd Also as Sturmi https://www.dropbox.com/s/pz20k14s8cjqbzs/stug-iiig-early [finn].zip?dl=0 https://i.imgur.com/rykgjz5.jpg
  11. @kohlenklau Great news! I am putting the finishing touches to the mods Exhaust traces etc. I will make them available in the near future. @JM Stuff I have read your message and I fully agree with it. I will have some questions for you in the near future regarding 3D models. @Lucky_Strike Thank you for information! Very very useful!
  12. Are you ready for the winter in Finland? https://imgur.com/a/yUTDL3w

  14. Dirty and muddy T34 https://imgur.com/a/dQNk1D3 And now, due to another wave of family and work duties, a few days break in modding. I'm still going to prepare T70 (as Finnish T26 and Vickers) and BA64 (3D model swapped from SdKfz 221, as Finnish BA20). Well maybe still Panzer IIIG (swapped 3D model with Stuart V) as Finnish T-50 and IS-1 as captured Finnish KW1. Both made mods I will make available in Dropbox. A few scenarios using this equipment would be useful...

  16. @Erwin I would love to see these pictures. I modeled the pictures from the internet from Parola. But my modding skills are not like other masters e.g. Aris. The point is, that in game Finnish equipment should not scare with German or Soviet painting, but at least roughly similar to real Finnish camouflage. I think I have achieved this goal? @kohlenklau I like Finns and your mod, so in my free time I decided to extend it a bit I expanded Crete mod too I will slowly get down to Romanians and Hungarians as well. I also have Polish tankette from September 1939 https://imgur.com/a/RN98Jmf
  17. Are you ready for... a major update of Finland mod??? https://imgur.com/J3Jllfk
  18. @kohlenklau I use both the Warsaw Uprising mod and the Finland and Hungary mod, which by the way I developed a bit for myself. But I am a poor scenario maker. I play with battles on a reinforced platoon level. Anyway, these mods are used by me and I get a lot of pleasure from it. I think the fastest way to expand mods is to include scenarios that are not created from scratch but are reworkings of existing ones or using adapted QB maps. Currently I'm slowly working on something like that for my mod Poles in Afghanistan and Iraq - First turn, first blood! for CMSF2. Mod is basically ready but I don't want to release it without scenarios. That's why I'm making scenarios based on matching QB maps and I'm reworking some scenarios from CMA and CMSF2. I can't imagine working on the September 1939 mod without you And JM Such a mod would, by the way, be closely connected to the mods: Norway 1940 France 1940 Greece and Yugoslavia 1941 Barbarossa 1941 On the German side in CMFI we have basically everything we need. On the Allied side, French infantry with Italian additions can handle Poles, Norwegians, Greeks and Russians. Italian armor and 47mm cannon (very popular in most of Central and Southern Europe), early Stuart (as Polish 7TP and Russian T-26/BT and replacement for British fast tanks from the beginning of the war), American 37mm cannon (as Polish Bofors) and light 75mm howitzer (replacement for popular 75mm infantry guns from WWI) and R35 will take care of most Allied equipment problems. Barbarossa would bring the T34, but we had the early Shermans, which differed little in parameters from the T34. Let's do it gentlemen!
  19. @kohlenklau Actually, September 1939 will be relatively easy and quite plausible to do in CMFI. I have been thinking about it for a long time. French infantry as Poles in 1939, Italian tankettes and R35s as Polish, early Stuart as 7TP, American 37mm as Polish Bofors. No problem at all with German troops and equipment. The only thing missing is the Polish UR anti-tank rifle.
  20. Thank you kohlenklau. It is stable... We are handling it somehow Free time is scarce but I have started to look here. Insurgent mod is great although I will suggest some minor improvements
  21. It doesn't just have to be eye candy. The winter map can be prepared accordingly, e.g. using terrain where the army will move as in deep snow, i.e. marshy terrain, sand, etc. I was thinking about something like this for CMSFII.
