Well, the 26th Infantry Division (and others) did run into trouble in early January. -

Losing? Losing??? I have Ian exactly where I want him! Lt. Lawrence is....er...was...a cool customer. He could handle the battle and still tell you what's happening. Someone's gotta do it! -
The name: with "Blitzkrieg" in it

It really hearkens to when I did Battle of La Ferme Dupont, where Lt. Warner and two others would explain things that may not be obvious to the reader, or explain what they are trying to do. What I definitely don't want to do is having any of these people I gave faces to simply repeat what you already know. If that's happening I'll have to watch for it more closely. -

Thanks, Baneman. Seems I have made Lt. Lawrence too much a narrator, eh? -

Gents, I may be a bit spotty over the next week. My wife's chemotherapy is complete and she has surgery tomorrow. While in theory we know what to expect, surprises happen so I may be busy (or just really mentally fried) over the next few days. If I'm slow in posting or replying this is why. Sorry if this is TMI. -

*Whispering* "Before there were Swiss Banks, there was the Bank of Liefrange. During a curious event in early 1945, some German and American soldiers collaborated to pilfer..." By the way, Lt. Blanchard is not speaking aloud to anyone but the reader, about his innermost worries. He's not the sort to bad mouth his CO. -

That's right, it's Ken's Bangalore Torpedo Moving Company! How did you know? -
I think there are many such situations in CM - just like real life. First the obvious - technological disparity: in CMBS the electronics are so superior for the US forces that frequently they see much further and more frequently in worse visibility conditions than their opponents. You also see that vehicle design and optics are a factor - German kit in WW2 is often going to have better vision blocks, better distribution of vision devices on vehicles, enabling them to see and shoot first. Second, the human factor - sometimes one unit is simply more situationally aware than another and sees it first. Sight is not simultaneous the moment LOS is achieved. I've had many instances where I have fired on an enemy that had no idea I was there, and the same has happened to me.
