  1. Python humour aside, this is a pretty important question that leaves me very very uncertain. I'm playing 4 games right now against a number of opponents. I *think* I'm being, if not clever, at least not totally idiotic in trying to conceal my units, to move them slowly and carefully. My trouble is, I have no idea just how effective I am at it. Sometimes I'm fired on, sometimes I'm not. It's hard to gauge whether that's because moving slow, hiding etc are working, or if they set fire arcs and I'm simply not in range, but clearly in plain sight. I fear making the same bad moves over and over, and not realizing that I'm standing in the open with a Megaphone and a bright yellow jumpsuit!
  2. ChappyCanuck, I have a Mac as well. Some alternatives to Powerpoint: Depending on when you bought your Mac you may have KeyNote, which is Apple's version of Powerpoint. Check it out in the Mac App Store. If you have to buy it it's $9.99. I've used it for presentations and it's not hard to use and can produce PDFs as well as Powerpoint files, in addition to the Keynote format. An alternative to Photoshop that you can get for the Mac, as well as iPad, is Pixelmator. Simpler to use than Photoshop (which I use myself as a photographer). Again, take a look. Macworld has a review as well if you do a search. If you have an iPad, like I do, you can take a look at Skitch (check the app store). I use it to mark up screenshots with text, arrows, circles around units, etc. Very handy. I'm showing a few of the features. It's quite easy to use. Here's an example:
  3. C'mon! You must have seen James Caan in Bridge too Far? He made it! Anyone can!
  4. This is sounding more and more like a Python sketch - How not to be seen Good tip though.
  5. My problem as well. Unless I have both of the shorter ones, I get uncertain of what I'm seeing. Which has in one battle caused me to move troops a fair distance only to realize...I can't hop over that!
  6. Ah sorry, I misunderstood. I am trying to find the map. I can't remember which one I used and it's slow going narrowing it down.
  7. Hi Ian, I believe the map in question is from the game, but I'll double check the provenance when I'm home. I appreciate your offer to help. I take it that there is a consistent method to fix this issue then? Would be handy for budding map makers to know what it is to avoid making defective maps.
  8. Sorry to jump in here but I wondered if the QB attacker-defender reversal bug can be brought to their attention once more?
  9. Yeah, it worked out in the end, but it's not the battle we intended to play. Is Battlefront aware of this issue? Have they given any indication if it can/will be looked into?
  10. Frenchy, I'm so green spring leaves look dark compared to me. PM Sent.
  11. That's interesting, if a bit of a hassle. I'll have to experiment.
  12. Work may pay the bills but it's otherwise highly overrated. Do I need to wear a blue tie?
  13. I'd certainly find that a reasonable solution. Just like my proposal that for tiny maps that both players agree to spend a set amount of points rather than the much greater amounts afforded by the game.
  14. Thanks for clearing that up. I'm used to the work I did in SPWW2 and SPMBT where these effects were documented, I assumed that there would be more clarity for the CM series. Not debating if there should be, just assumed there was.
  15. Wow, thanks, guys! That's a lot of useful info. George MC, thank you for uploading those files, that's very kind. Kohlenklau, your idea is helpful. I was going to resort to that if I really HAD to. PAK40 - thank for giving me and idea where to look.
  16. JonS, I wanted to say I really love your DAR. I put the PDF on my iPad before even considering using the editor simply for the pleasure of reading. You describe process and design analysis in an interesting way. I didn't immediately see the answers to my questions, but that's not for lack of appreciation for what you've done.
  17. Hmm. Ok. But I read somewhere that bogging chances increasewith a lot of rain. So, would that apply only to non hard/rocky terrain, is what's meant to ask.
  18. So...the gaps are human sized? Ugh... I could have sworn I tried that and got a vehicle sized gap. Must have clicked something wrong. Thanks, fellas
  19. Another question: How do I control where the man-sized holes in hedgerows appear? I'd like one in one specific square but not another but it appears random.
  20. My question is: I've read about marsh and some specific terrains having effects, but not for all so: Does hard or rocky terrain do sonething special compared to say, grass? Does it stay hard, and not become muddy when the conditions are rainy? I didn't see anything explained about this in the manual.
  21. I looked around for a general thread of map design technique questions but didn't see one, so I hope this isn't a duplication of an existing resource. The idea is to have a thread (perhaps if it's really Useful it could be stickied) where anyone can ask a question and get community replies on map-making.
  22. Darn, I'm always looking for some who won't totally slaughter me LOL
  23. Oh that would be awesome, thank you, please do!
