+1   Game software development is very hard - especially the AI part.
In addition, while it is wonderful that BF have a govt contract earning them well-deserved extra cash, my experience with the govt is that there are always time-consuming "mission creep/extra requirements" that the govt often expect you to do (often for no extra money).   That raises a concern that BF CM2 development for the commercial market (ie us) may be slowed even more.  Another issue is that if the govt work is lucrative it will be very hard to not have that become the primary work of BF, regardless of what their stated intentions may be.  Been there, done that.  Money is very tempting.

I'm still buzzing over CMRV. I would never have named Indian, South African and Free French forces as additions I would love to see, but I've been enjoying them immensely since the game came out.
What would I like BF to do next? Surprise me - I'm certain to love it

    Edit:
Also, I know as a community we've been over this ground time and time again, but -- we know BF is a small company, they work for months and years bringing out these amazing, detailed, realistic historical simulations, recently we've had SF2 and RV, which were both fantastic and took huge amounts of work, but almost as soon as a release comes out, members of the community start griping that it isn't enough and that they've been waiting too long for some other detailed and amazing theatre.
I just wish there were a bit more positivity in the community - we're all grown ups, aren't we? We realise that hard work is actually hard work...?

After my recent upset playing my bright and shiny new game CMSF2, I thought I'd make my first short video.  Talk about adding insult to injury.  I'd swear a shot took out one of my Challenger 2 tanks and then ripped through an APC and took it out too.  That is just...  sooo unfair!  I think it deserves a Mulligan do-over.  What do you guys think?

Never edited a video before (so please excuse the extreme clumsiness).
Playing the scenario "UK Battlegroup Attacks".  I just get done sending my recon unit exactly where the enemy reinforcements arrive.  Thinking myself relatively safe from that direction, I turn my armor to face an enemy I can see.  That's exactly when the Red reinforcements arrive...

    Hi all,
I have been visiting Tankograd - the Soviet/Russian armour blog (which goes into mind boggling detail): https://thesovietarmourblog.blogspot.com/
Serendipity strikes: I neglected to bookmark it, and have cleared my cache, so when I typed Tankograd in the browser bar, I got this:
TANKOGRAD PUBLISHING - JOCHEN VOLLERT PUBLISHING
It's a German military publishers https://www.tankograd.com/cms/website.php  site in both German and English.   Has distributors around the world.
    Here's the UK one: https://www.bookworldws.co.uk/product-category/military/tankograd/
    And the US: www.aberdeenbookstore.com    www.rzm.com
If you go to Outlets you can see the booksellers in many other countries. Loads of interesting stuff for modern, WW1 and WW2.
Now I'm under house arrest like an effin' political prisoner I have started obsessively buying military books again. I wonder if Nelson Mandela ended up furtively poring over the details of track arrangements on Challenger 1s and 2s. In the old days at least it was porn mags. I'm clearly going downmarket.

Lots of user made scenarios and a few campaigns for all CM2 titles.  There is a N. Africa mod with a few vehicles and one or two scenarios for N. Africa.

    Battlefront,
Could you create a poll to see what your customers would like to see next in a Battlefront release?  I've heard you guys mainly concentrate on topics that really appeal to you (which makes a lot of sense).  I would like to see if your customer's interests line up with any of your passions.
I, for one, would love to see a game centered on either the Arab-Israeli wars or Afrika Corps.

Really having fun with CMBS and CMSF2.  I have some really epic 1 minute movie clips! Slow and steady, eyes open, wins the race in both these games.
I know this won't be controversial at all, but which is the best of the WWII series?
BTW, I would pay good money for a Field of View button.  I think it is Graviteam Tactics games that has that.  A real life saver.

If you are playing on the lowest difficulty leverl, wich i belive is BASIC TRAINING, i don't think it will be easier to destroy the enemy but it will help you by limiting the fog of war on the enemy units...giving your units instant information-sharing...give you shorter delaytimes on things like artillery- and airsupport...improve your troops moral and supression recovery i belive...and a few other things...
It will not make it easier for friendly vehichles to be destroyed...
I would recomend that you study the manual and 'get out of' basis training as fast as possible...change to atleast VETERAN difficulty..
Othervise you're missing out on some of the gameplay features that are toned down on basic training...
Primarely fog of war and informationshantering
The game get's even better with those things in play 😎...

Note that CMBS is usually regarded as the hardest and most brutal title to master.   The WW2 titles are somewhat more forgiving as in CMSF.

Brutally true in BS.  If you're in LOS, you might be dead already and not know it until you click Go.
Recon, recon, recon. Go slow, give troops and platforms time to spot from the best cover available, etc.

@Probus I have all the early BF games. I didn't play them for years and came back recently to CMBS and now CMSF2.   I love these games: in a sort of insane masochistic way,  because the modern battlefield is very punishing. You can do everything right...and still be blown to pieces by missiles or tanks. I am glad you are enjoying the game. Do download player-made scenarios and mods - many of them are quite brilliant and surpass the (generally) high standard of the normal scenarios you get when you purchase the game.

Ok. It didn’t take long playing the demo until I decided it was well worth the price tag.

What a great game!  I’m really enjoying it. When you play on easy settings, does that make it easier to destroy enemy vehicles and easier for friendly vehicles be destroyed?  It seems pretty hard to show your face and survive.

This is probably a question you get all the time, but if I bought CMBS can I buy the Marines, NATO, and British units from CMSF2 and use them in CMBS since they use the same engine?  It specifically says the Afgan-Soviet game is incompatible.
Also, are there any CM games that have the Arab-Israeli Wars and/or OOB?

As the title says, I just ran across my Combat Mission games again.  I had the original Overlord and Barbarossa disks.  Wow!  Its come a long way!
I'm downloading the demo now, but it looks like Black Sea is probably the best for the conventional modern battlefield.
    Would that be true?
Kind of a steep price tag for an older title, but I'm willing to pay it if it is as good as it looks.
