  1. Thanks! This is a great quality sound mod! Are there a variant without the background explosions?
  2. Is TOT or its modern equivalent an option in Battlefront:s modern titles, CMSF or CMBS? I don’t have any of them but it would be interesting if they did. Then it would be “easy” to add that feature to a WW2 title as well. If not then I suspect it slips down a few knots on the priority list at BFC.
  3. Does anybody knows if the AP version of 7.92mm was the golden standard aboard German vehicles and tanks or this was an special ammunition, seldom used? That again raises the question of the different penetration qualities between the two round , maybe I'll go down to the test lab myself.
  4. And thats why I thought it would be an interesting feature in CMFB.
  5. I guess nobody knows if it’s going to be in CMFB.
  6. Hi! Dos anybody know if soldiers and MG can fire the 7.92mm AP round or if it’s just for vehicle use? And what’s the difference in penetration? Is the AP a translation of the German designation S.m.K. - Spitzgeschoß mit Kern? An example; Some Sd.Kfz 250 have both (7.92mm & 7.92mm AP) and use an MG42. But I’ve never seen any MG on foot or rifle squad use the AP form even if you can acquire them while on board. I guess an vehicle should have higher capabilities against other vehicles and that’s why they have the AP variant, but IMO even an “ON FOOT” asset should sometimes gain on using them.
  7. Yes, I was about to ask the same thing. Even if you fired a few other mission between the "Hill" target you should imo be able to use the same calculations again. If you moved the battery, of course its a whole new deal.
  8. Artillery I would like to have a function added to artillery in form of a Target Reference Point memory. As this; FO calls in a strike at a hill without a TRP. 10min later the shells splash down. After say 30minutes you want the FO to strike that hill again and this time there is a TRP on the hill. Conversation between FO and Arty staff. F0 ”I want a salvo at that damn hill again”’ Art: ”Roger, we already have the calculations for that target from the last fire mission so it will splash down much faster than before.” FO: “Perfect” Totally unrealistic, unhistorical?
  9. SPOILERS Just finished Sellow Day 1 and it was very fun. A massive armor assault against an defensive line upon a ridge. In the campaign so far I have been careful to save my panzers and in this mission it payed off big time. The first trench line where the objectives are I held with only some mg, PAK and infantry units as they are in full sight of the enemy down on the plain. My main defensive line was about 400m to the rear in height of the Sellow village. When the soviets reaches the crest they were massacred. My infantry took bloody casualties, arty did its part, but my panzers didn't loose a single vehicle. The Soviets quit the game and I won a total victory. I guess the next battle will be as hard or even harder...
  10. Thanks dragonwynn for the answer! I fully support and appreciate your efforts to model the desperate race for Berlin, the first mission really felt like Gotterdammerung and I hope the rest of the campaign will be as good as the first three missions. Fun to be an attacker as well as defender in the campaign.
  11. SPOLIERS! Played mission 3 The Farm the other night. It was really fun but when the soviet reinforcements arrived (about 24min before end) I was already in their zone of arrival. It was a massacre and I had to load a earlier save and then deploy my troops but It felt like cheating. Maybe deploy them earlier or at the Soviet map border?
  12. Hi! I just finished the first battle and I'm mighty impressed. Very atmospheric with the winter mods and I love the late war desperate setting. Beautiful map. Those Russian tankers really stormed forward and lost some 68 tanks and hundreds of infantry but It also cost a lot (20 tanks). But I managed a total victory by holding all the objectives.
  13. Sgt Joch: Interesting quote but I have some difficulties to see the different viewpoint you referred to. I think Mr Bergströms admiration of the 5.Fallschirmjäger-Division comes from the fact that the unit had very meagre resources to start with (as your quote clearly describes) and still had orders to play an important part in protecting the flank of the 5. Panzerarmee. That they managed to accomplish their mission after all is what surly gave rise to the authors admiration.

  15. This campaign sounds very interesting, from the setting, units involved to the day and night possibilities. The screenshots looks very atmospheric.
  16. Do anybody knows if Time On Target (TOT) is included/planned as an artillery option on the allied side. I read that it was a somewhat new feature used by US artillery (battalion, division and corps level) during the battle. TOT is where the artillery fire by many weapons is synchronized using a fire direction center (FDC) so that all the munitions arrive at the target at “precisely” the same time. For standard artillery the first few rounds is most effective when they catch the enemy in the open and unprepared. After the first salvo the enemy troops take cover and the effect is reduced dramatically. TOT could sometimes have an devastating effect and was more economical of ammunition.
  17. The Enemy Strikes American newsreel from March 1945 set in a sober tone for the homefront. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fu1AIiqARiQ The Battle of St. Vith U.S. Army documentary from 1965 narrated by actor Robert Taylor. Several American and German veterans of the battle describes their experiences including Rundstedt's Chief of Staff General Siegfried Westphal and General Bruce C Clake CCB 7th AD. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIb4dBEsin0 Kaiserbaracke Crossroads Unsorted German footage, some of which used in the Wochenschau Newsreel.
  18. No I'm sorry but it looked like it received some really hard hits and maybe an barrel explosion if he barrel is from the same tank.
  19. Thanks to you too BletchyGeek, and yes it’s clearly where Mr. Bergström has his background (Luftwaffe in particular and air warfare in general). This sometimes leads to the author to overemphasize the importance of their favorite “subject” is the same with those who writs exclusively about say the Special Forces or the importance of the breaking of the Enigma etc. Yes, I read it in original Swedish and cannot comment on the quality of the translated editions.
  20. Here is an interesting link to "all" allied tanks i the Bulge area.
