  1. No I didn't find a filter function when using surname search but a absolute majority was from later part of ww2 (44-45).
  2. I don't know about if the names themselves represent a Jew but a quick search on the Volksbund.de:s Gräbersuche-Online show some of the number of fallen German soldiers with the names you mentioned Nussbaum = 160 Altschuler = 0 (but 697 Schuler) Other Yiddish names Salomon = 457 Levin = 57 Stern = 614 Just the names doesn't probably tell the whole story...
  3. "Floating trenches and moving fortifications in TCP/IP fixed." Wonderful news!
  4. Good point, history have taught us that some of the real tragedies in recent time don't have its causes found in the decisions made by rational minds.
  5. I really liked Fatal Decision: Anzio and the Battle for Rome by Carlo D´Este. Mainly from the US perspective.
  6. An MG 151/15 machine-gun on the outskirts of Königsberg in February 1945. Original Agfacolor photo.
  7. Antony P; Durning Bagration I would imagine that quite a few rear echelon personal in German divisions had to fight for their life as well as men on the HKL. That's why its interesting with the idea with "unusual" firearms in say straggler groups and LW troops etc, even if I don't think that captured weapons was quite as rare on the front line as you would suggest.
  8. Indeed, about 70 years:) but otherwise incorrect. The production of the MG 37(t) ended in 1942 but saw limited service in the Wehrmacht till the end of the war, mostly by Waffen SS and anti-partisan units. This post was about a wish/ long term request of adding more unusual weapons to CM. If the weapons shown was not usually seen in photos/footage it still doesn't mean the weren't used. And a wish is just a wish.
  9. Great post. I would also love to see the Czechoslovak machine gun ZB-54 which in German hands were known as MG 37(t).
  10. I support this view the fullest even if it’s maybe more applicable in the RT section. I have several of his books and they are written, edited and printed in the highest quality.
  11. Tanks firing (British Pathé) American tank destroyers being used as artillery somewhere on the westerns front winter 44/45.
  12. Nice! The Big Picture is a good documentary series with many surviving veterans.
  13. Thanks. I always thought that the weather in the morning of December 16 was anything but clear. Someting in line with this; "Dec 16 Very low clouds and fog patches. Visabilities poor. Light rain." from Weather Effects During The Battle Of The Bulge And The Normandy Invasion https://archive.org/details/WeatherEffects Or, "The weather conditions on 16 December 1944... Overcast; cloudy; penetrating cold; snow flurries, turning to rain; poor aerial observation with no aerial activity; ground soft; roads muddy and slick" from The Battle at St. Vith, Belgium, 17-23 December 1944: An Historical Example of Armor in the Defense: U.S. Army Armor School
  14. I really liked this mission as well. Small, frustrating, intense:). But for a more historical touch I would have liked at least overcast skies. I don't really know about the ground conditions but I think mud/wet instead of snow is more correct.
  15. I've seen this a lot in RT and BN when loading a saved game during a 2 player TCP/IP turn based game, often when my opponent have moved the fortifications during setup.
  16. I know about the QB but my favorite is the Player vs AI but also playable as H2H and dedicated H2H. IMO QB are a little too much chess and guy in candy store for my taste. And AI is AI for better or worse. I can only imagine the amount of work that must be put in a really good H2H, but you have managed that a few times yourself even if they weren't dedicated H2H scenarios. Sometimes it help just by adding a setup zone to the AI side and some briefing to have it worth a try as H2H. I really look forward to playing CMFB and I know in my heart there will be very enjoyable mission to be played H2H even if they are primarily designed as vs AI.
  17. Smoke 'em if you got 'em! 8th Air Force Air Attack (British Pathé) Some nice interdiction films from January 1945. Don't know if its from the Bulge exactly though.
  18. A further question; Dos any body know how many of the 25 are H2H and how many are vs AI?
  19. I’ve also read that he spoke fluent English but maybe he was asked to speak in German as not to confuse the audience:). On the anecdotal side, It is said in Bergströms The Ardennes, 1944-1945: that when the German infantry infiltrated between US outposts during the early hours on the first day of the offensive that they could tell that the men in the trenches were American by the sweet smell of their Virginia tobacco. The Germans had to do with the much harsher Turkish tobacco or Ersatz.
  20. Thanks! I always like to watch footage from the battles I play. Very nice find bodkin, I have never seen this before although I've seen some LIFE photos in color before. http://time.com/3628396/battle-of-the-bulge-rare-photos-from-hitlers-last-gamble/
  21. Some more wartime allied newsreels from the Bulge. This time its British material. Battle Report from Belgium (British Pathé) The Bulge - British Pressure (British Movietone) The Bulge Shrinking (British Movietone)
